Ya know, I'd pretty much given up on the idea of thinkin' of anything for Pirate Month Challenge but I guess you never know when inspiration will strike so I very much rushed this one out in two days (it's rare for me to spend less than two weeks on a piece these days) before the month ended. I've been trying to play with new techniques lately and here's one for ya: 3D shading of 2D drawings. I googled up a few drawings of Popeye characters, did some modest manips and gave them flat colors. I then used those pictures as textures placed on 3D models. Well, I wouldn't say it's good or anything but it is different.
wow! Thanks everybody, this was a little different for me, I didn't really expect such a favorable reaction (then again, who doesn't love Popeye ) Volt: I should mention this was done in Bryce and the techniques are specific to that program. The models are original, created in bryce using "organic modeling" with symmetrical lattices specifically to be used for each character.
