The new Supergirl movie would be killer if done on a more serious note. The first one, from the 80's was not that bad, had it only been cast with better actors, and had better dialogue. This is my rendition of the new movie poster. And as striking as this girl looks in the shot, I would definetly see this movie. The actress is Elisabeth Harnois. As simple as this pic is, I think it is one of my personal best. I hope you enjoy it.
Good choice of model. I also like the subdued lighting of the picture and her over the shoulder look. I don't sense innocence in her expression, but rather confidence, even if she isn't jumping front and center and saying 'look at me'. Which is an interesting perspective on how Kara might behave, at least in a movie that makes a serious attempt at drama.
To your point, a new Supergirl movie should be as serious an attempt to portray the character as Superman Returns was. Unfortunately, Kara's not the universal icon that Superman is, so its going to be hard for Hollywood to play her story as dramatically. As 'straight up' if you will.
What we need is someone with the stature and acting credentials of a Charlize Theron. Someone who can forget cute and pretty (even if she is) and play a damatic role. Unfortunately, Charlize would have to portray a grown up Supergirl, and I don't think many people are ready for that.
If only Superman Returns had been a runaway success... as it is, a sequal to Returns is going to be hard enough to get funded, let alone a full-blown movie about his cousin. But we can all hope. And beat the drum, hoping Hollywood will listen. Shadar
