Shauna Thomas was born to an upper-middle-class family in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.  As a child, she discovered that she had super powers, such as super strength and invulnerability.  Because of this, she had dreams of using her powers to become a superheroine.  To that end, she attended the University of Iowa and obtained degrees in electronics and military science.  Later, she joined the prestigious Andromeda Modeling Agency run by Doree van Jantzen.
She spent ten years as a model, and in that time made clever investments with the money she made, amassing a fortune of $7 million.  Having become disillusioned with the modeling business, she quit the agency and moved to a small farm outside Ames, Iowa, which she bought and turned into her headquarters and training compound.  With her operation firmly established, she adopted the code-name Titaness and performed various good deeds.

During her career as Titaness, she took on a 16-year-old runaway teenager named Samantha Martin and trained her as her partner.  Since Samantha was a tomboy, that became her code-name.  Titaness and Tomboy have worked on various missions, including the rescue of three Andromeda models from a villainess called Purple Sage.
First appearance: Titaness #1 (Mansion Comics, 1996)
