Influence Map: Comics That Made Movies pijon 2018/6/20 9:43 1735 6
I'm sure I could have filled this up with just the Marvel movies but I wanted to include others as well. My credits are spread pretty randomly in the Influence Map so I've included a list below more specific to who did each comic although that's a little dicey too as in some instances, I've credited the character's creators while in others, I've credited those whose story got adapted into the films. Not all of these films were great but the comics were and that's what I'm paying tribute to.
Hellboy - Mike Mignola The Crow - J. O'Barr Judge Dredd - John Wagner, Carlos Esquerra The Punisher - Gerry Conway, John Romita Sr. Watchmen - Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons Blade - Marv Wolfman, Gene Colan The Spirit - Will Eisner Spider-Man - Stan Lee, Steve Ditko Batman - Bob Kane, Bill Finger Snowpiercer - Jacques Lob, Jean-Marc Rochette Sin City - Frank Miller Jonah Hex - John Albano, Tony DeZungia Kick-Ass - Mark Millar, John Romita Jr. Thor - Stan Lee, Jack Kirby Heavy Metal - various artists (movie in part based on stories by Dan O'Bannon and Moebius, Rich Corben and Bernie Wrightson) Swamp Thing - Len Wein, Bernie Wrightson Superman - Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster Ghost Rider - Roy Thomas, Mike Ploog V for Vendetta - Alan Moore, David Lloyd Wanted - Mark Millar, J.G. Jones Road to Perdition - Max Allan Collins, Richard Piers Rayner 30 Days of Night - Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith Captain America - Joe Simon, Jack Kirby Wonder Woman - Charles Moulton, H.G. Peters Black Panther - Don McGregor, Rich Buckler Daredevil - Frank Miller Old Man Logan - Mark Millar, Steve McNiven

Re: Influence Map: Comics That Made Movies Awesome concept...and I actually like the audience viewing the comic covers without the movie posters. Comics made movies is perfect as seen as a movie of comics. Now, just for my other 2 cents...here's 3 of my favorite, badly made, comic movies...

Re: Influence Map: Comics That Made Movies Thanks so much, Ozzy! As to your nitpick, I get what you're saying. In fact, I had considered going that route when I was planning this. Things like having to explain which movie version is my favorite is definitely one of the reasons I avoided that route! Still, I chose this path by both intention and design. As I'd mentioned in my comments, I am paying tribute to the comics, not the movies. It's the comics that influenced me. Comics so good, people invested millions to turn them into movies! In a majority of the instances, I still find the comics more well done. We can look at The Spirit as an example. Will Eisner's comic is one of the best and most groundbreaking comics ever made. In a time when masked men in suits were literally a dime a dozen, Spirit still shown so brightly that it had many others were trying to emulate it's magic. The movie on the other hand, is one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever seen! There will be no celebrating that!! Besides, if I wanted to make this about the movies, I'd have called it something like "Films Based on Comics".
