Acclaimed British actor Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69. The beloved star, who made the transition from the stage to the big screen in the 1980s, passed away in London after a battle with cancer, his representative confirmed to the Guardian. Film audiences first met Rickman in 1988 with the debut of Die Hard, and spent the following decades catching him in everything from dramas to romantic-comedies to celebrated adaptations. The late star had many greatest on-screen roles.

I think his other two most notable roles were as villains: Most famously, as Hans Gruber in Die Hard also as the Sherriff of Nottingham against Cosner in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves He did some fun offbeat roles too, like The angel Metatron in the Jay and Silent Bob adventure, Dogma also Alexander Dane (AKA Professor Lazurus) in Galaxy Quest.

Uhhh...ok. So much for his "male theory". A great actor; an odd tribute although gender benders seem to be making a comeback around here lately so I suppose it's nice to see a little humor for a change in a memorial tribute.
