So I actually feel like posting one of my drawings here. It's probably the only one I'll post. But here's what I wrote about it on Deviant.
****
I've been seeing lots of artists do a gray background under their lines, and then shade them. I've always thought this was cool but never got to trying it.
I love Jean Grey (The Phoenix) she's my favorite comic book character of all time. So I wanted to test the gray shading with her. I've had this picture of Angelica Bridges that reminds me of Jean. So I used that as a reference. There is a lot more here than the original pose that Angelica is doing. It really took a life of it's own. I'm going to try out the color masking thing with this tomorrow. It's late now.

But let me know what you think. I personally think my art is getting a more professional look to it. That's often my goal. Don't worry I love to improve and try new stuff so I'm not saying I'm done learning. I'm saying it is getting to what I think I want my art to look like professionally.

Anyway, this is a big fav for me. Can't wait to do more.
The eyes remind me of my hero and one of my favorite artists character eyes (AH!) that makes me want to jump up and down with joy. He's so cool, but It's still my style. Which I'm not really sure what that looks like. lol

Jean Grey the Phoenix is property of Marvel comics. This is fan art and a dedication to the character.

Beautiful! Monochrome sketch work can have so much more depth than using colors if the pencil is in the right hands. This is stunning!

UN-B-LIEVABLE!
I am a huge fan of sketch art, and an even bigger fan of Phoenix!
Angelica Bridges is a perfect choice for model, and you've managed to get a little "Stacy Sanchez" thing goin' on as well!
The lines are beautiful, as are those eyes, but my favorite parts are the
auras. They highlight a simple gray scale drawing and turn this work into something extraordinary!
An almost smokey atmosphere with these highlights gives a feel of a Phoenix Rising, or rather Phoenix's Power Rising to full potential.
Her calm, almost serene expression suggests she is comfortable and in complete control of this awesome power. This is Jean at her best on all levels!
Nicely done here!
