New Orleans turned out to be a very exciting place for Conifer.  During the day, the locals were very friendly, even in spite of her odd appearance, or maybe because of it; for she met many an odd folk down in the French Quarter.  And the food!  It was no wonder to her that Louisiana was in the top five fattest states in America.  Conifer was raised on a private island off the coast of Maine, and though well traveled, has settled on the fact that New Orleans has become her favorite city.  Not just because of the friendly people or the food; but also because she works off all her daytime calories by night.  Here only two weeks, and she's already bagged eight vampires, a man (and woman and child) eating werewolf, and no less than fourteen voodoo zombies.  She fought a strong Hellion (demon) to a stale mate, and had to leave him get away as she licked her wounds.  There was no doubt; she loved this city!

 Re: Taken Amiss
The vampires were actually the hardest to hunt, as they were very well orginaized and had a network of both 'mundanes' (normal folk) and otherwise, keeping an eye out for such as her. Clever tactics and timing were her best weapons agaisnt New Orleans vampires. Those eight vampires she slew were hard to isolate, so she had no choice but to kill the humans that were protecting them as well. This didn't sit well with her conscience, as she knew not all vampire thralls were vampire lovers or actually employees, but some were being used against their will; charmed as it were. So it was with some measure of surprise to find a vampire without it's bodyguards. A woman coming out of a dark alley, dress torn, bloody lip, nearly ran into her. When asked what happened, all she said was "That monster attacked me! Tried to kill me! But...she...it; Please, don't go in there!" and conintued to run off down the sidewalk. Her darksight serving her well, she came upon a female vampire draining what looked like a street junkie. The red headed vampire dropped the bloodless man on the filthy alley floor like he was an empty fastfood container, looked up at Conifer, smiled and said "Bonsoir mon ami, how can I help you?" After a seconds hesitation, all her hunter instincts kicked in high gear. But this vampire was different, more powerful. Now it was clear why she went about the night un-escorted by human guard dogs. She didn't need any protection. The fight took them through back alleys and over roof tops. After twenty minutes of alternate chasing and fighting, Conifer realized the vampire was holding back, perhaps leading her some where. This was the vampire's home turf. Was she being lead into a trap? Did they want her alive for questioning? Conifer knew she had to gain control of the fight. She swung her bo staff/cross in a wide arch with her left hand. The vampire dove backwards into a flip and landed on her feet, dodging the blow, but Conifer used the wide swing to distract while her right hand threw a silver spike. Some vapires were 'alergic' to silver, some werent; some alergic to crosses, some not. In this case the red headed vampire was definitly alergic to silver. She screamed, her hand catching the spike before it went deep enough to pierce her heart. She pulled it free from the smoking wound it left and threw it back at the hunter. But Conifer was already over the side of the roof they were on. Diving as if into a pool of water, six stories down to the street, she tucked and rolled through several somersaults before coming smoothly to her feet, and taking careful aim at the pursuing vampire with her holy water dart gun. Her timing was perfect; the dart would hit her target just as she touched down. But the air between them suddenly compressed, then exploded outward, as if a giant, invisible balloon was popped. The holy water dart pinged off what appeared to be a metallic Jack O'Lantern pastie. The orange metal pastie was attached to the left breast of a female Hellion. Her skin was paler than the vampire's, her hair orange with black horns on the top of her head. Conifer wasnt ready for the Hellion's magical entrance, neither was she ready for her speed and strength. In the next blink of an eye, Conifer's was lifted off her feet by her throat, and her gun was ripped out of her hand.

A truce was called and roughly five minutes later, Ye Olde Original Dungeon night club on Toulouse St in the French Quarter, had three more customers. The bartender served them with a warm welcome, and actually complimenting the three women on their appearance. Conifer counted no less than three real vampires leave in a big hurry. The funny part was they didn't even glance her way; they were terrified of the red headed vampire and the orange headed Hellion. Over drinks, (the bartender insisted all their drinks were on the house) Conifer had the most interesting conversation in her life. The rest, as they say, is history.
