Thanks very much for the kind words, my friend! I know my pics can seem quite random
they actually make sense on a more personal level. I think I heard this song as a teen and thought "yeah, that'd make a cool pic" and then many years later, I was showing some of my early 3D work to old friends who hadn't seen it when one, for some odd reason, asked if I was familiar with this song. I told him I was and he asked if I could do a pic of it. I was really giving it some serious thought right then and there, going over details in my head before I finally looked at him and said no. I told him there was no way I could ever do any "snow dog" till I figured out fur and I was a long way off from that! Even that was several years ago. Fast forward to now: Daz has a "music lyrics" render challenge, I remember this long forgotten friend challenge and I'm trying to get a handle on doing hair and fur so I figured this would be a good opportunity.
It was cool working from lyrics with characters who had not already been visually defined. In addition to characters, I also tried to include various elements from within the song like torchlight, cavern and gate although the lyrics are really just a framework for the lengthy instrumental describing the battle anyway.
Anyway, while I have been venturing away from usual superhero themes of late, fear not!
I am back to my old self, looking forward to this next one: an old obscure 70's Marvel superhero who seems to be enjoying a renewed interest lately... of course, I'll be doing that 70's version.
