Finally replaced my computer that died last Summer and this is my first try at a Doctor Octopus.  Going to take a bit to learn good tentacle technique!

Thanks to Joe Quick for the great Spidey Mask, and inLite Studio for the Spidey suit!.

[My apologies...I didn't mean to get this bumped up on the render list, I just wanted to correct a spelling mistake in the credits...sorry, noting to see here...move along...  ]

Re: Doc Ock : Times are Good
Thanks all for the constructive criticism. I agree that the filtering didn't quite hit the "watercolorish" look I strive for in my Heromorph renders. It's interesting the comment about why I had Doc Ock's arms coming from the back instead of the sides...I was really going more from memory of 70's comics. Looking back at images, I think it fair to say many had them drawn as coming from the back, but I agree that I expect the "real" Doc Ock would be correctly portrayed with side exit points.

Rather than rework this image I will move them to the side for the next one. I like the Black Cat in peril theme, as I think the three of these characters were a high water mark in the old Spidey books [and BC was just so damn hot!]

I have to agree about the filter here...doesn't do the image justice.

Same with cat's foot glow...

However, I REALLY like the set up of this piece!
The character posing is awesome!
The camera angle is great!
The costume textures are fantastic on Ock!
The lighting and background is superb!
You can feel the drama in the image!

You should repost without filtering, this would be incredible!

Great job on the set up, keep 'em coming!

not bad. but as much as I liked this in the thumbnail too many things bug me about it when i open it. I think the filter you used either in render or Photoshop just doesn't work with this partcular image. It makes what are obviously cool tentacles look hairy. I'm curious to why you attached Ock's arms to his back rather than his sides...and lastly why is Black cat's foot glowing? i know I sound like a major nitpicker but these things just take away from what appears to be a great composition.

Good to see you back, man. Yeah, I imagine all those tentacle segments can get tricky but this is very cool! Good stuff!
