i wanted to go with a 60's pinup look so the car clothes and hairstyle are reminiscent of the 60's
and i used a sepia filter to give it a touch of age

Nice. Your work continues to improve. Heed DW's sage advice! Learn to lose the nostril penlight effect too. Good job.

 Re: car hop
Here is something I put together in about 5 mins.
The only difference from what you did and what I did:
I used the Genesis model and clothing rather than Aiko 3.

I used and environment sphere just for a quick background.

I added a basic direct light with a deep shadow with Intensity and softness set to 50% each.

I assume you use 3Dlight as your rendering engine, so, basic default rendering of 3Delight.

There are poke throughs but the primary focus is the surface settings of the car and windshield for the effectiveness.

Listed below are the ONLY surface settings I changed on the car to get the reflection

Car Surface - Diffuse Color (128-128- 128)(A medium grey)
Reflection Color (128-0-0)(A Dark Red)
Reflection Strength 100%

Windshield - Diffuese (255-255-255)(White)
Opacity Strength 65%
Reflection color - (192-192-192)(A light bluish white)
Reflection Strength 100%

As you can see, the Enviroment Sphere helps in the overall reflections in the image.

Hope this helps.

Other than the elfin ears I like this . The filter works well here. I doubt this was rendered separate otherwise there would be no issue with her thumb. Perhaps he just didn't up the reflection on the car and didn't adjust the cast shadow element of his lights

 Re: car hop
The lighting and filters work on this. I am seeing a bit of poke through/ "Phasing" of her thumb into the hood of the car. Also when you rendered, did you do separate renders of the car and the girl and post work them in? Reason I ask is I would think she would have a reflection in the car,and I do not see her shadow being cast on the car from the direction of the lighting.
