An ambitious first try! It takes a lot of guts to try fur first time out. I think you have the makings of a fine Maniper! (You get buku bonus points with me for naming the model.)

Shadows and highlights were a little daunting to me at first, but they turn out to be surprisingly easy. I like to start off with new Manipers by finding a common ground, and we have an excellent one here, Black Alchemy's Start to Finish photomanip tutorial. (It's a Zip file, the pages are jpegs) Read it, if you have questions PM me or ask anyone around here, and tell me what you think.

Or better yet, show me.

Not bad for a first attempt, if you're using photoshop 6, try to find the eye candy filters, in there you'll find a fur filter, that you can use to immprove this one.
