I haven't figured out how to effectively use the masking tool yet. I'm sure it is basic, but I only use Quick Mask, multiple layers and the Pen Tool (PS CS). Is it better (more efficient) to use Vector Masks? Should I spend the time to learn this technique?

You improve with every post. I note that you are using a thin dark line as edges and I like this. I think it would have been more effective to do the mask this way too. Maybe you intended to do that but forgot.
