This is Nova the herald of Galactus. The base is olympic diver Erin Quinn turned upside-down. I inverted the light and dark and used various photoshop effects on her skin. Everything else is from scratch.

Great job! You got the true essence of Nova. True that she's a being with flame powers, but hers should never be confused with the likes of the Human Torch. While his flame is powered by Oxygen hers is powered by Cosmic energy which definately would present a different look to the naked eye. Not many who have done Nova have thought of that. Perhaps that was your thinking prior to doing this pic, perhaps not. At any rate...FANTASTIC!!!!

Here is more or less how I did the flames in photoshop:
Select the area of the figure and expand it a few pixels.
In a new layer, use Render Clouds to fill it with orange and yellow clouds. Use a variety of distort filters like ripple, twirl and wave. Basically just keep messing with it until it looks like fire. Put this layer behind the figure. Make a duplicate layer with 10% opacity and put it on top of the figure. This makes it look engulfed in flame.

I'm glad you all liked it.

Freshmutt, this is great! Your best post here ever! (Well, there is She-Hulk, but...)
I really like how you made the back of her head disappear where the flames are, just like in some of the comics. How did you do the flames? Completely different from my Binary, for sure.

I see what BadDog was talking about with the trailing flames. If we ever get upload ability, I will have to update mine.
