Re: Dead Girl (30 manips in 30 days part 17) By DarkBlade I love Dead Girl... she was one of my favourite X-Statix chars. I did a manip of her that I'm still very, very proud of... This is a great pic of her! A very nice recolour. I always enjoy the clean, smooth (and sexy!) look of your images... wonderful. I do have some suggestions... as always... first, the main thing I have with this pic is the hair... it totally lacks life (and even for a pic of Dead Girl, that's bad  ). It looks to me like you just desaturated and adjusted the levels to grey it... what's better is to take the dodge tool, set it to shadows with a relatively low exposure and a smallish brush, and then go in and lighten the hair by hand... more time consuming, but I think you'll find it's worth the effort. A couple other points (really minor ones) ...I'd bring out the shadows of her skin a bit more (burn tool)... it looks pretty faded. Also, you might want to add some subtle seams or wrinkles to her costume, just to make it clear it *is* a costume. I mean, I'm familiar with the character, but if you're not... then you end up with DW's question. It's not a major thing, but it would slightly improve the pic IMO. Never mind me though, this is another fine entry into a great series. Rock on! |
