Mystic was a comic by CrossGen, which has since gone under. Hopefully someone will pick up some of those titles.
She was able to call upon various schools of magic, so the glyphs are to symbolize some of that, I reckon.

Re: Mystic Well done as far as it goes, but I think it's time for you to bring some tone variation to your work. Try laying down your flat tones on separate layers to begin with, select then (the ants chasing each other) and then lay some gradations into the selection. In this case it would have added some depth and interest to the cape, background, ect.
