Another commissioned color job, this time of Jubilee. She's intended to be appx 20-years-old, and colored more vibrantly than my usual pallette.

Original line art had no shading, etc, as per the usual for the artist.

Thank you, and thank you for noticing! With these last few images, the artist I'm collaborating with uses very dark, very bold strokes when inking, and on the colored images I felt it was somewhat overpowering.

So I color as per normal, and then create a new layer overtop set to "Lighten" blend mode. I use color select to pick the appropriate base color for each area, and then dial it down to a darker tone so that it only affects the black ink areas.

Simple, and I had -hoped- it would help create a finished look with the image, as sometimes with bold lines it begins to edge into coloring-book feel, color laid between the black lines. So thank you!

I wanted to comment on the coloring style you used. I like your use of lines that are a darker version of the color they are associated with, such as the darker lines accenting her flesh areas, the outline of the belt, glasses, etc. This gives a drawing a much different feel than just using black ink everywhere.

I have never liked this character, but you've given her a glowing new look that actually has me rethinking my opinion of her. This version is grown up and lovely.

Very good colors, Ms. MacTaggert. Nice to see Jubes grew up into quite a fine specimen.
