O.k. now you might wanna call weird or something, but is there some equation that dictates that a super heroines' breasts must be disproportionate to her body. Many times I have found that these said heroes have boobs which are twice the size of their head. Jean grey on many occasion must rely on her telekinesis just to keep those babies from dragging her down. The fact that a lot of these ladies are meant to be built like athletes is contradicted by the fact that every time they run there is the potential for them to knock themselves out, who needs enemies when when they can get a concussion just from jumping on the spot. I mean wouldn't it be nice just for a change to have a heroine that struggles to fill a B cup? The only time a woman has a small chest is if they are young, & even then it's not long before she fills out to the standard size, take the new x-men (new new x-men) when x-23 first appeared she was a skinny ninja kid, give it 2 year & they got her dressing like a prostitute with a boob job! Now I'm sure this will invoke some sort of discussion, maybe I will find answer to this question. before you ask yes I'm a man, no I'm not gay, yes I like breasts! Let the games begin. BOING!

I hear ya, Bro!
I'm a leg and Butt ( mostly butt of late )man myself...and have always wondered why the Heroines here seem to be rather outsized myself. If they are always "on the run', so to speak...wouldn't that work off a lot of the fat cells in their bodies? And, basicly, that all breasts are: fat-filled milk glands to help in the re-population of this species, Man.
If you go back 3-4 thousand years, all of the "fertility symbols" that you dig up these days alway had large boobs on them. That, and rather large-sized hips. ( this is getting a little deep for me... )
Anyway, I've put my two cents worth in...now, it's someone else's turn!

I was just about to ask all those questions. It is really a simple answer to your question. No offense ladies, but B-Cups do not sell beer, cars, copy paper or comic books. Plus, they are superhumans... their boobs do not bounce... they are firm! Or it is just a control top. My concern is that you are worried about boob size and not with the fact that most costumes are not battle friendly. they can't fight in those clothes without having a boob slip... it is impossible.

You may want to expand your comic reading beyond the adolescent male fantasy driven "American Superhero" comic genre.
Because no matter how much of an athlete those characters are supposedly written to be, they will always be depicted as the kind of athlete that makes it into Playboy's Invitational Bunny Games. It's kind of how Barbie can be a lawyer and a fashion dreamboat at the same time. It's the thinly veiled lip service we expect our media to provide as a protective cover story (read PC) that allows us to pretend that our baser desires don't exist.
Personally I think I would find superhero comics a little more interesting if there were some normal looking folks among the supers. Aging and death would be a nice addition as well.

The thing about superhero comic books is nothing is realistic.
At least the female form is more-or-less possible in real life (with implants). As I have worked with competing male bodybuilders I often find the portryal of male bodies laughable. Yes, men can look that muscled and ripped, but it takes months of preparations and they only look their best for a few hours (not to mention the strict dietary requirements usually has them exhausted).
Batman, seems really busy so where does he get all the time to do the necessary exercise? And don't get me started on the Flash - he should look like a skinny marathon runner, not a bodybuilder!
But, as said already, comic books are drawn to sell more, and who wants to look at a less than ideal specimen when it is just as easy to draw a bombshell?

I remember when Bart Sears drew Justice League International. Power Girls boobs were 3 times the size of her head. I think that was to make up for the fact that they took away her ability to fly.

Comics, especially super-hero comics, are not real. They are a fantasy. You need to suspend your everyday normal beliefs in order to enjoy them, and this includes the size of the breasts of the female super-heroes and the bodies of the male super-heroes. If you start pointing out all of the flaws, how not normal they are, you will not be able to enjoy the comic. Yes the breasts of most woman super-heroes are larger than the breast of the average real woman, but do change with different artist. Final point, I am a breast man and I don't mind the way they are drawn.

I am not a man or a lesbian or even bi, but I do have to say I would be disappointed by a female superhero with a b cup. I will agree that some get wayyyyy too carried away with it, the cup size shouldn't exceed the head size, but anything less than a DD looks less striking to me. I find large breasts (within reason) to be beautiful, and so do most people. And you are right that real women can't compete with them, but tell me, what man in his right mind is going to turn down a real woman in favor of a drawing? They can't compete, but they don't need to.

I happen to be a 'leg man' so I can't too much to this conversation but about DarkWinter's comment: I've never been given the choice mostly because I'm not what women find desirable so I have to content myself with drawings of them.

I am personally a leg-butt guy (see my posts :P) But I find no problem with larger-than-normal boobs. I mean, most superheroines are stacked, but to me that sort of conveys the outward appearance of being a superheroine. An ugly, floppy character, no matter how epic her powers may be, is not going to get the press that a young, stacked girl will, regardless of her abilities. And I must say, DC has definitely kicked the stuffing out of Marvel when it comes to this topic. I'm a Marvel guy myself, but I can't help but compare my Marvel ladies (Shulkie, Black Cat, Storm and Rogue) to the DC Pantheon of Endowment (Power Girl, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Black Canary) Most Marvel girls can't compare, size wise, anyway. And don't even get me started on Battle Chasers...
All in all, I like my hero girls with bigguns. Yup. Sad as it is to say, a female lead that doesn't catch your eye won't do well most times, no matter how well written she may be.

Why is it that every time this subject comes back up, I feel like a picky bastard? I mean I once saw a stripper with triple F's and my first reaction was....... revulsion?? Those things were bigger than the rest of her body. I have no clue how she was able to stand up straight. At the same time, I also can't stand seeing women so flat that they're inverted. Hell, I can't stand seeing women who have big tits and no ass or no tits and giant ass. The big ass discussion tends to rake my nerves anyways just for the simple fact that when I see a woman with shelf booty, I want to put my beer down on it. And I completely expect it to walk away. I guess what I'm sayin is, I hate too much of both. But I also hate too little of both. As long as the overall body shape looks proportionate??? I'm all for it.

I just like them both to be roughly the same size, and have the courtesy to stare back when I'm looking at them.

Since you guys seem so fixated on this (these) topic(s), I thought I'd put my two c's in. I think the best analsis co,es from John Cusack's musing in the movie "Hi-Fi". When I draw or manip a figure for HM, I try to make it tittilating - but always real (except, of course, for Pamela Anderson). Never bigger than the head and relative to an athletic body (e.g., ribcage has to support the rack; hips have to support the butt). I invariably think "what kind of bra would she wear?" for this costume.

Lest break this down: 1) Excessive Cleavage sells, so bigger bosoms equals bigger profits.
2) Save for May Parker, Big Bertha (of the Great Lakes... whatever they're calling themselves currently), Death (Marvel's depiction), and Hela (Loki's Daughter in Marvel), only prepubescents and background characters are meant to not be "superhuman" in body as well as in powers... and Bertha is both ends of the spectrum as she is either model thin and flat or excessively bulging everywhere(but that includes her face, arms, belly, and everywhere else) at once...
3) Comics are Fantasy/Fiction, not reality, before you try to break down why the women are more then humanly possible, why not figure out how an invisible person can see, a person can fly without any visible means of propulsion, and if the Thing's Thing spurts pebbles? They're far more reality breaking or thought evoking topics then why Powergirl's 34H's are so rediculous even though Penthouse had a centerfold who had her exact figure many years ago.
4) Everyone is complaining about gravity, well DC may have the biggest and most massive, but no one has mentions DC's blatant addressing of the subject in Young Justice #1 with Nina Dowd after her transformation... who has not a single 3D Art, Photomanip, or Comic Art image done of her... Poor Mighty Endowed, she can't even stand on her own and yet she gets no support from the artists here either.
So why argue over the T&A when there are more important topics to discuss, and bigger and better T&A unscene out there, and images to sell, and beauty to appreciate?
