Over at Renderotia there was a Frazetta art jam going on, where anyone who wants to contribute does an image that is a copy of/in the style of the artist Frank Frazetta.

This is my attempt at an image of his called Princess of Mars: http://tinyurl.com/27jwxr

I tried to keep to Frazetta's female body type, and picked a body morph that had prominent curves (hips, boobs, belly, etc. ^_^).

His women also looked a bit asian to me, so I picked an 'amer-asian' face for Deja Thoris as well.

Well, they could, if I actually knew photoshop well enough to do so (something that requires at least something more than a mouse to 'draw' with ).

Its a lot easier for me (when my system cooperates, that is) to just re-adjust the clothing bits and then re-render.

I'm a big fan of the ERB Mars books, and I have always liked this particular Frazetta picture. I think you did a wonderful job of recreating it. And I agree with DD, the "skwishy parts" are impressive!

Not having been able to figure out the 3D stuff, I wonder... can't these so-called "poke through" problems be corrected manually, say with Photoshop?

 Re: Princess of Mars Tribute
Actually, this was my 5th attempt at rendering the image.

For some reason lately my system just won't do even moderately complex shadows, I had to pick a simple light set just to get it to render.

After the render I noticed the poke-thru on Deja's calf jewelry, but I just said 'screw it! Good enough' and left it at that

Pretty cool. I like the look of Deja Thoras. Looks like you might have rushed this a tad. There seems to be a couple of poke-thru issues but still a good effort.
