Angel's partner Sam Simeon could'nt make the scene so he sent his older cousin, King.  Angel & the Ape was created by E. Nelsen Bridwell and drawn by Bob Oksner and Wally Wood for DC in 1968 and revived by Howard Chakin for Vertigo. Angel was a "Mod" fashioned Private Eye and Ape was Sam Simeon (i.e., simian) and intelligent talking Ape who was also a comic book artist. This pic swiped Angel from a 2000 comid; Ape from National Geographic; gun from Colt

Angel & the Ape is one of those series I've always vaguely wanted to check out but never gotten around to. Fun pic too. Just try to imagine Sam and his cousin here at their family reunion...

Very cool! Funny too!I have only the vaguest recollection of the original series and was unaware Chaykin had revived it! I may have to look up that Vertigo version.
