It was the first time I try to manipulate this character, but I'm quite happy how it turn out.

I'm not sure either, and I did it both ways but I like it like this better. What I liked best in the base image was her happy expression and the other way it look more like a grin than a smile so I use this one.
I just call it "artistic freedom".

I love doing manips of this character myself. Yours is very cute. I like the fire trail, and the flame effects on her body in general. Would the inside of her mouth (gums, teeth, etc.) still look normal while she was in her fire state? I'm not sure. But I like the look on her face, she looks so happy and free.
