Stage name: April Fewells
Real name: Unknown
Also know as:  April Fewell, April May, Shirley Eugeste, Harley Quinn*
Nationality: Unknown
Height: 5' 8"
Caucasion, sometimes brunette, sometimes blonde.

You are looking at recent promotional photos of burlesque stage performer and comic extraordinaire April Fewells.  She is shown here with her ever popular stooge puppets (left) and performing her provocative "Examination" sketch (right).  She is believed to have disappeared in the Vegas underground. She is wanted on suspicion of arson and the assassination of at least two organized crime bosses.  Her known talents include singing, dancing, and ventriloquism, as well as some knowledge or expert knowledge of explosives and/or firearms.

If you have information regarding Ms. Fewell's whereabouts, please contact your local police or the FBI. Don't let her girlish pranksterism fool you, this woman is extremely dangerous!

_____________

*As those that have been following my Vee comic in the HM Comic Books know, I  inadvertently created a new heroine from the plot, Miss V. In order to continue the story, the villainess's name "Harley Quinn" will have to be dumped and replaced, as it is copyright DC Comics. As April, she has already demonstrated that she is as dangerous as she is funny as she is beautiful.  Despite keeping the "broad" in broad farce she is extremely dangerous and a deadly adversary of Miss V.

True, co, but you're definitely one lucky bastard for being the one applying it on her!

Lemme know if she needs a hand in that department any other time. I gladly volunteer my services as "body make-up" applicator.
I'd also like to apply for a position helping the puppet on her right hand inspect the goods...

OK...the main difference in the color posts are the fleshtone of Miss Fewells...the one on the right looks like She's been hitting the tanning booth a bit. The black outfits the dummies wear on the left should show a slight amount of light reflection...unless it's matte black, that is. Even velvour ( a type of velvet, I believe ) shows different shades of black when it's moving under normal lighting.

April's pose on the left is well done...'au natural', as if it were. Of course, the expression on the snake is priceless.

Don't know if I can or not...gotta give this another '10'. ( I tried to give you another '10'...it wouldn't let me! Consider this note as another '10' rating )

Really cool concept! Did you do them in colour and then de-sat to B&W (I tried that once...). To carry on Wolf's comments: Older B&W film was "monochromatic (responded to light & dark) but newer B&W film was panchomatic (responded to the tones of colours). These "photos look like panchromatic B&W because you did such a good job on the warmth. Some cheesecake promo "proofs" were sent out on "un-fixed" paper and would fade so that they couldn't be reproduced. (the developer/printer would not leave them in the fixing bath long enough.
I believe co04 no owns the copyright to me, much like W.O. Bentley and Col. Sanders lost the rights to themselves.}

Right you are, MissVee! I had forgotten that factor on B/W film...I deal exclusively with color...although, for a year or so, I tried sepia-toned photography ( note: sepia-toned photography was used in the movie "Wizard of OZ"...color for the scenes in OZ itself ) It was not that easy to work with...but, it gave that "old-style photography" feel to the pix I was taking. I switched back to color when asa800 and asa 1200 became popular...and, as a side note, I've tried 1600 b / w film...but, found it to be too grainy...I work mainly with 200 and 400 speed color film these days.

co_04 shows us fans His amazing ability to do fantastic work with both b/w and color art...what a Master He is at it!

And, yes, please post the color verions...give the people a better ideas of what we're talking about here...

MsVee you are right on! I did indeed color them first, and how perceptive of you to guess that. I should post the color versions for you to compare.

Also, thanks for that xtra bit of film trivia. something else I did not know.

I agree with co, I think I learn more cultural info from Wolf's comments than I thought possible.

As for the pics, I am unqualified to comment further, as it would take far too many words to describe my amazement.

Simply put, 10 can not be a high enough rating.

and as for the character, I had an "Airplane" moment when I read "Shirley Eugest."
Thank you for that, now I can't stop laughing, and can't stop imagining a line up of people slapping me for it.
Great job, again (and don't call me Shirley)

Very Kuwell! April will certainly make an (ahem) ample replacement for Harley in the Miss Vee storyline. Great shots here(lucky puppets!)... I guess this means more Miss Vee comics on the way? Hope so, your comic work is terrific!

Mr. W, I think I learn more back culture from you than anyone I can immediately think of. Your cultural perspective is always interesting; one reason I always look forward to your posts. In this instance, I wasn't aware the lobby cards you mentioned were so coveted today, I just made these "8 x !0's" as if they were something a casting agent had on hand, though they are now on file with the FBI as well as with Artists Equity. You know, a flattering pic of the performer or actor on the front and then a pimped up resume attached to the back (note the staples on the left pic).

But I am glad you brought these past performers to my attention, as now I can use that to help bring an extra dimension to April. Since we are still in the month of April, I figured it would be a good time to launch the character.

Re: She Who Must Be Stopped
Even doing this as a traditional "Lobby Photo" you show great talent here, Bro. These two pix show a certain 'voluptousness' to the lady...especially in the photo on the left; the chest is perfectly preportioned with the shot on the right, without being overly 'enhanced'. The fine shading is a nice touch...hard to pull that off these days. The expressions on the 'dummies' on the left are ony surpassed by the one in the right picture.

Back in the day ( 1940's until about the mid-60's ), ecdyasists ( "strippers" to the uninformed ) would have photos like this to place in every venue...tastefully done, of course...to give the clientle an idea of what the 'Featured Attraction' would look like. There is a brisk trade in these older photos ( Virginia Bell, Blaze Starr, Candy Barr, et al ) these days...as most of these ladies have taken their last curtain calls...

I really glad that co_04 is taking great care to do this artdorm before it fades away entirely...gotta give Him a very 'HIGH FIVE' on this one...and a '10' for the work as posted

One for you, Brother!
