The feline Race known as Katarans are highly evolved and technologically advanced. The majority of their technology is in fact beyond the galactic norms with advnaced space flight and possible dimensional travel at their disposal. During the Millennuim Wars no fleet ever assembled was able to pull even a single casualty from Kataran ranks. The largest armada assembled against them was defeated in the first volley, and the opposing forces fleet was decimated to the last escape pod. To say that Katarans are merciless is an understatement. They live by the law of kill or be killed. They are not conquerors but they will not abide being attacked and their response is always lethal force. The females of the species are far more ferocious than the males and outnumber them nearly 15 to one, needless to say most encounters with Katarans will be with females. However, females hold few positions of power and are almost always second to a male. Physically the males are larger and more powerfully built. There is only one species known to interact peacefully with katarans and that is the Heigarans which the Katarans believe to be less evolved "Cousins" although the two almost never crossbreed. When such a paring occurs the offspring are born infertile but often incredibly powerful. Katarans are considered a tentative ally of the IGFW.
