I saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens a little while back, but had been too busy to do this piece until now. I generally stay away from reviews & criticismand I now this is a bit lateBUT
**SPOILERS Ahead**
If you havent seen the Star Wars moviesread the rest later. Go see the original 3 first.
Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi, in that order.
If youve seen The Force Awakens, but not those three, dont fret because you caught the replay.
Why the title?
A long, long time ago (or maybe more recently) in a galaxy far, far away
This little orange droid showed up with a strange talelets see if I get this right
A small droid claiming to have been entrusted with a message of the utmost importance to a woman named Leia talks of being sent on a secret mission involving crash landing on a desert planet where, along with C3PO, he joined an orphan teen and found passage aboard the Falcon with a Wookie named Chewy. Along the way, he witnessed the search for a reclusive old Jedi Master hiding from the world, a rebel attempt to infiltrate and destroy a massive planetary weapon that kills stars, a tiny little alien creature with great knowledge and wisdom, the inexperienced orphan fighting and beating the veteran dark side fighter dressed in black, and a father killed by a son after an unlikely yet obvious relationship among characters was revealed
It was at this point in his story that he lost his audience.
The little droid named R2 stepped forward and said:
Beep Boop Beep Beep BopEep Opp Ork Ah Ah
Which the protocol droid translated to mean:
Been there, done that and get an original story you little ball of repetition.

Now, the back storyIncluding SPOILERS
If youre the type who is gonna get offended by criticism of the Star Wars films
Please bear in mind this is just MY OWN opinion, or stop reading now.
Im not telling anyone not to enjoying them, nor suggesting anyone change their opinion based on minein fact
I used to be a great fan of all things Star Wars. LOVED it all. I saw the original three flicks in theaters when they came out, owned all the Kenner action figures and jumped on the bandwagon for the prequels when they were announced. But I stopped at episode VII, refused to see Rogue One, and wont see The Last Jedi. Any future films wont have my participation either. And heres why
It wasnt just enough that they blew up a death star in two of the first three movies; they had to try again in The Force Awakens. But they cleverly renamed it Star Killer base instead of Death Stardidnt even use synonymssame idea, just a little bigger.
They copied the plots from Episode 4, 5 and 6, blatantly, and mashed them together under the guise of an original all new adventure. Sure they changed the gender of the desert planet orphan who turns out to have the Force powers, but they didnt bother to alter much else. They even re-hashed several of the jokes from the original movies. If you read the description of the story without seeing the picyou could just as easily describe episodes 4, 5 and 6 as you could episode 7.
Now maybe this was an attempt to bring those old movies to todays younger audience, and maybe I sound a bit like a disgruntled old man, which is truebut to me that movie was just like the remake fad of old TV shows to film that flopped (A-Team, Bewitched, Leave it to Beaver, Starsky and Hutchetc.) and even remakes of old movies done poorly (Friday the 13th, Planet of the Apes, Nightmare on Elm Street, Prom Night, Godzilla, Godzilla again, King Kong, King Kong again, Black Christmasetc)
And while Ive heard that The Last Jedi was a bit less re-hash, I still none-the-less have jumped off the bandwagon for good. Ive even sold all my old Kenner toysexcept Boba Fettnever the Fett man.

PSEep Opp Ork Ah Ah actually means something different, and I stole it from another space adventure. You can google it or click
Eep Opp Ork Ah Ah
but I figured swiping ideas was appropriate for this piece.

Again, my opinion, just mine...maybe...
