We haven?t had a Supergirl in? oh? I?d say about two weeks so I guess we are due. Here is free spirited Kara having fun with her power of flight.

I would like to thank Android for the base image and also for his inspirational versions of Supergirl.

The background for this image, similar to the one used in Angel of Light, was painted in Photoshop.

Nice to see a superchick with some meat on her bones!

We have to keep in mind that this is Super-GIRL not Super-WOMAN. She hasn't left her teenage years behind and hasn't fully developed yet, so there's bound to be some baby fat.

Very good, CDA. I was gonna say that she's a little ... thick to be S-Girl but that's not a bad thing. Nice to see a superchick with some meat on her bones!

 Re: Up, Up, and Away
Thanks Krasch for defending my lighting liberties. Photographers do it all the time by placing light wherever it's needed.

With my image for instance... who's to say that light is not being reflected by an orbiting satellite... or maybe created by the photographer's camera flash (How else would this picture be taken?).

Sometimes we get so caught up with the technical, we fail to appreciate the artistic.

 Re: Up, Up, and Away
Excelent pic of the misfit maid of might.

And sure the lighting isn't technically accurate. But there's two important things to consider.

1. This is a superhero we're talking about, which stretches reality a lot anyway.

and 2. As George Lucas would say, we're talking about a romantic reality more than a technical one. And in such a reality the lighting will be whatever makes the figure look the best regardless of whether it would actually be that way or not.

Again excellent pic.

"Where did you post the base image? and for that matter where can I find the so called "cookie jar" full of images everyone seems to use?"

Moderators? The answer would be better explained by you, gentlemen.

Sorry, sir. I'm not capable to help you. Maybe (and I repeat: maybe) the FAQ would do that.

If I were you, I would redo her "S" (because a good part of it is suposed to be hidden from our point of view) and reshape her right leg (I know it's her real leg we're seeing here but it's odd anyway. Heh!).

I did some cosmetic surgery on her left leg (right side of pic) and basically gave her a kneecap. I redid the ?S? on her chest to better conform to her chest contours.

I kept the girl sharp but gave the background and planet edges a very subtle blur. That way she pops out from the background a little more.

The main light source seems to be coming over her right shoulder.... so with the cape there, you wouldn't get that kinda lighting on her toosh.

I know I took some liberties with lighting, but if this picture was truly taken out in space with the sun behind the subject, all you would get is a silhouette and that wouldn?t make for an interesting picture.

I mean she is in space... wouln't her hair be floating all over the place?

In space you are in a vacuum. Unlike flying through the air or being in water, there are no external influences on the hair. In space an object will continue to travel in one direction until acted upon by an external force (change of direction). Although? If you keep changing directions all the time, you will eventually end up with messy hair.

Other than what Android said, I also think the lighting on her butt and back of her legs is wrong. The main light source seems to be coming over her right shoulder.... so with the cape there, you wouldn't get that kinda lighting on her toosh. Oh yes, and one other thing... a few hand painted strands of hair would be nice to make her hair look more realistic... I mean she is in space... wouln't her hair be floating all over the place?
That is just a minor gripe though.... Really good job on this one.

 Re: Up, Up, and Away
This is really well done! The costume, background.. everything. The only thing that kinda bugs me is that each item's edges in this manip ( the girl, the planet especially) are really sharp. I would suggest filter, Noise, Despeckle and possibly a slight G Blur to soften them up a bit so that rather than each item looking like they were "Cut and Pasted" to the background, they'd look as tho they are all part of the same pic. Otherwise, great job. And the model is bEEEE-U-TEE-ful!

That's beau-ti-ful.

The costume is perfect. The colors are strong but don't hurt the eyes (and that's a compliment, believe me)!

The stars, planets and nebula show how easily you handle your programs.

If I were you, I would redo her "S" (because a good part of it is suposed to be hidden from our point of view) and reshape her right leg (I know it's her real leg we're seeing here but it's odd anyway. Heh!).

Oh. And you're welcome. I'm glad you liked it.
