Real great and patriotic piece

I am very moved by this piece. Very good job. I am speechless.

This image of Cap is from Ultimates 2 Issue 1, it originally features all of the Ultimates....but due to time I came up with this.

I used the pen tool to create the various components of the image. The major players being the helmet, flesh, uniform, and shield. Nothing new from me, I just burned, dodged, and smudged each section to get what you see. An extra layer or three here and there, various layer styles and you get the end result.

The texture on the helmet is a leather texture grabbed from the net, it's the same one I used for Batman in my teamup with B.

The subtle flesh texture was brought about thru two noise layers and a linear burn layer style. Added some stubble using a noise layer and radial zoom.

The uniform texture was tough to figure out, I couln't tell what it was....so I used chainmail. I know it's not right...but it worked for my purposes.

The shield is standard dodge/burn/smudge...then applied some levels and curves.

All coloring done with Color Balance and lowered saturations.

Added the text (it's from the Ultimates book) and the flag to create a somber tone. Cap's eye is supposed to be closed...in the original cover it's open, another nod to the somber tone of the image.
