The sun rose and the morning mist hung heavily on the bay below. Halma, commander of the night watch caught the first glimpse of the sails on the horizon. She left the safety of the battlement and walked carefully on the rock overhang.
"PIRATES"!, she yelled to Miraj.
Without hesitation, the young girl took her torch and lit the signal fire.
The great bronze urn sparked to life as flames jumped from its opening.
Three monoremes made their way into the harbor. The first alert bells sounded from the temple tower.
"They have used the cover of fog to approach us.", Halma said, "There will be no time for reinforcements to arrive." She looked again at the three ships, at best their would be only 20 effectives, at worst 50. She closed her eyes as the morning sun warmed her ebony face. "Prepare sisters, we will have to fight them alone!"

I don't get a whole lot of comments on my work actually posted here on Heromorph, but I DO receive a lot of them left on my website or Emailed to me at banzaigirlmc@aol.com. (I love getting comments, so post 'em!! Please!)
One thing that seems to get a lot of attention is my drawing popular established comics characters. So my subject this time is RED SONJA.
It always bothers me when artists do a drawing where the heroine is just sort of standing around posing prettily, or maybe holding a weapon and looking like she's going "Grrrrr." Comics are about storytelling, so I try to tell a story of some sort with every drawing I do.
For this illustration, I decided to depict Res Sonja in the midst of battle, leading a hoard of female warriors, and attacked by a creature so vile his skin had been ripped from his body, revealing the muscles beneath! I wanted it full of energy, action, power -- and even at the monster's seeming moment of triumph, to give Red Sonja a sense of movement and beauty and grace -- without ever losing the knowledge that she is a warrior.

These guys are a brother and sister team of Jewish heroes that are sort of representative of Hanukah, but not really, but they do have a menorah as their logo [symbolizing the power of undying light] in addition to the traditional Star of David on their belts. The concept behind them is simply a mish-mash of “The Wonder Twins” and “Captain and Mary Marvel.” By touching hands together and shouting the code word “SHALOM!” they transform into adult versions of themselves, [Hence their names which are the Jewish coming of age ceremonies for a boy and girl respectively], and gain incredible powers. The powers and abilities gained from their code word are derived from various important Hebrew figures of the Old Testament and are as follows:
Strength of Sampson, Heralding of Hosea, Authority of Aaron, Loyalty of Levi, Observation of Othniel, Might of Moses. [Note: I'm not Jewish, but I am Catholic so I do have some understanding of Judeo-Christian history, etc. even still I had to do quite a bit of research to figure this all out and make it work for these characters.]

| Olive is known as “reindeer zero.” In her origin, she is the first of the dark mirror versions of some of my Christmas themed heroes that I have posted this year. While all of the evil doppelgangers have the same exact powers and abilities of their good counterparts, Olive is unique in that she is the only copy of the reindeer team. As the first doppelganger created by the Mean Green Witch she was based on Vixen, but given the powers and abilities of all of the heroic reindeer. |

| These two are based on the mythical character of Jack Frost, except that I gave him a twin sister. The Frost twins are minions of the Mean Green Witch. As “enemies of Christmas” they are a constant thorn in the sides of Santa, the SRT, the elves and the other Christmas heroes in their constant attempts to ruin the holiday season. |

| Based upon the traditional holiday characters of “Frosty the Snow-Man” and “Crystal the Snow-Woman” but with a more mature take on them. My versions are a married couple of snow-people who aid the SRT in their adventures from time to time. Unlike the traditional tale, in my stories they are not snow-people brought to life by magic hats, rather they are part of a race of beings that have lived at the North Pole for centuries hidden from the rest of the world much in the same way that Santa and the other Christmas characters are. |

| Not only is this character appropriate for Christmas, but in my personal comics’ universe I sometimes use the three archangels Gabriel, Michael and Raphael as characters in addition to other angelic characters of my own creation. This is my rendition of the angel Gabriel who in the Bible announced to Mary that she would give birth to Jesus. |

| These guys were featured in my Christmas offering for 2007. The actual artwork of the characters hasn’t changed, but like Santa I reworked the coloring somewhat and improved the highlights and shadows on them. I also gave them a new background for this year. Mac and Jane are original Christmas elf characters of mine that are boyfriend and girlfriend who are also the head elves below Santa |

| Santa is a slight reworking of a drawing of him that I did last year. I added the monogram to his sack of toys and fixed up the highlights and shadows in his coloring a bit. His wife is a new piece that I actually drew last year, but didn’t have the time to complete at that time. So, I’ve colored her now and present them together this year in an all new scene. I’m not really sure if the character of Mrs. Claus has an actual real name or not, but since this is my version of her, and I actually use these characters in my own comics, I like to refer to her appropriately as Noel. |

I went to Florida for a week.
I drew this in the car while we were passing through North Carolina on the way home yesterday.
Thought I'd do something like King Kong but I like Dragons more.
I'm trying to work on more Dynamic work, I wanted this to look like a cover.
