Some of my favorite toons..
Thought I'd try an experiment to see if I'd still feel like I didn't have enough spaces... yup, still not enough I did use different sized tiles underlapping the grid to define groups of films by individuals or organizations as the 2x2 blocks (4 squares) used for Bakshi, Pixar and Disney, all of whom have larger bodies of work worth checking out too. Long 3 x 1 blocks used for Laloux, Miyazaki and Ohtomo, and just two (2x1) for Linklater. There's 2 shorts that made the list...
One, The Man Who Planted Trees is 30 minutes long but worth your time. Watch here

Disney was something that I forgot to add to mine, although as has been evident, everyone has something that they either forgot or just couldn't fit. You've picked a fine sample of some of their most ambitious films however, and great ones from their Pixar branch as well. Plus, Akira is always an anime classic that should be recommended to anyone.

Bakshi! Awesome. Love your Japanese choices too (yeah, I'm an otaku). Miyazaki is a God, of course. I debated including Ohtomo, but I'm not a huge fan of Akira (stylish but not very good imo) and his best work was too recent to be a major influence on me. But he'd be there if I were to do a specifically anime influence map. Ninja Scroll! I remember loving that back in the day, though I don't think it was actually any good. I love some off the solos too. Triplets of Belleville! Persepolis! Yellow Submarine! Hooray! If I'd included music, the Beatles would be top of the list.

Damn, B... Very happy you liked most of my choices, ...hell, I'm just happy somebody's actually familiar with my choices! Thanks! As far as my Ninja Scroll and Akira choices, I suspect you're probably someone who believes a good story can save bad art where as I believe good art can save a bad story. .

Noice!!! Me likes! I still remember some of those.

But... this means we can do spin-ofs from our original map?

Then maybe I'll do one only with sci-fi influences...or maybe Heromorph ones...

Thanks O!
Absolutely, O! Spin away! Have a blast! Anything goes... just spun one a little further out moments ago....
