This image is an effort to quiet the demons that dwell within me. I have worked in Iraq now for over 4 years and before I go home I am trying to recover the broken parts, my mind mainly, and put them back together.
I had help from several people with this, one being Tyler, who saddly is not here at HM anymore, and Android, who showed me the way to brighten the base image and make the image darker at the same time. I also wish to thank all of my friends here that have taken the time to talk to me in the shoutbox when I was at my lowest points, Hawk, Jr., OCP, Bio, Tart, CO_04, Mr. A, Thayne, PeterCotton, SK, Alex, Walley, VL, Miss V, DW, and I know there are many more but I can't remember that far back at times. I wish to post this quote I found while in a paticularly dark moment I had recently, I feel it fits this iamge perfectly.

?In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours.?
Ayn Rand

Oh man, MC. I feel like such a boob for not knowing that you've been in Iraq all this time. I for one want to thank you for the sacrifice you've made for this country and everything that you and your comrades have done. Welcome home and may all your wishes come true.

This is powerful. I'm not sure if there's anything left to say, except thank you for your service, sir, and welcome home!

The end of one chapter means the new one is about to begin. I for one am anticipating what the new one has to offer. Word of your homecoming is about as awesome a bit of news I have heard lately.

Art can be a great way to deal with the demons within, MC and you've done some of the most amazing pieces I've seen from you lately being this one the best.

Have a safe return home and I hope by then your dark moments to have passed, my friend.

Masterchief,

Have a safe trip home, my friend. Take care, be well and know that there are many Americans back home who greatly appreciate the sacrifice that you and your fellow brothers-in-arms have made in the defense of your country. Also, know that I am one of those Americans.

I've been following the development of this over in the Hellfire Club. It started off good and has become excellent. A powerful piece, made even more so by the choice of quote. Outstanding. You have been thru more than most will see in a lifetime. Healing is something that takes time but it'll be made easier thru the support of family and friends. Welcome home, MC.

I wish you well, my Brother-in-Arms.

Though I, too was a grunt, it was in back in 1977-79...I was never given the chance to reach my full potential...medical discharge due to eyes going bad. So, though I was never in combat, I can net even begin to dream about the crap you've gone through.

May you find that wich you need...and may your return home be a safe one.

To everyone else, I reccommend the book "The Last Centurian", by John Ringo. He's been there, done that...and now talks about it.
