don't get me wrong..comparing her to Mystique is just a common reaction simply because she does indeed resemble her. U gotta admit that purple is just a step from dark blue. and the fact that u chose to give her red hair...welll you've gotta expect that reaction even without knowing her abilities. since shes an alien u could have gone several different directions in skin color and probally would not have had this reaction. this thing is regardless of what comparisons others make don't feel that u have to justify your choices. take it from one who knows

I get what you guys are saying that if she actually had blue skin that the comparison would be more apparent. However, I wasn't completely forthcoming in my description of the character. I apologize, so let me clarify some more. She's purple for several reasons. One is that as you can read above, she's part of an alien race that I've already established as being purple skinned, and two I really don't want her to be a complete Mystique knock-off so there you go, different skin color. I didn't mention this in my original description either, but I think that the reason that none of you are really seeing it right away is because we're all obviously comic fans and know our characters, but I showed this gal to a friend of mine who isn't even remotely a comic fan, but has seen the X-Men movies and her response was, "Oh, she's just like Mystique!" So, you see the average person is going to make that connection whether she's blue, purple, or whatever, and honestly I think that it was more so the fact that I gave her red hair than the color of her skin b/c that's what resonated more. Of course I realize that that might not always be the case, but it is what it is. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment as always though, I truly appreciate it.

Cool character, well developed. I think a shapeshifter is a perfect addition to this squad although making her skin so similar a color to Mystique's might draw comparison.
