Thank you, guys.
Honestly, I do think this is my best. It's certainly my favourite of mine, as I've said. I think it being a pic of my own character brings it up just that little notch in my estimation.
DD: A lot of work? You could say that. From conception to finish, this took about 50 hrs of work spread over some three weeks. Actual manipping time was probably 40+ hrs. Some 15 hrs of that was working on little details and playing around with different versions of things like her belt and bracer. Each went through a half-dozen versions.
BB: Thanks. With a painted style for my actual costume work, I basically have to do something similar for the backgrounds. The costume, skin and background all need to be done in a similar style, whether you go for photorealism, the airbrushed look, or something more unique. That was something I was told by the DCG artist StrangeFish, and was probably the single most important bit of advice I've ever received.
WH: Thank you, thank you, thank you. That's really cool to hear, man. Lighting was something it took me forever to find a way to do. I finally figured out a way with my Emma Frost pic, and this was the next one I did. It was very specifically an exercise in dynamic lighting. (Which took another couple of hours of that huge total I cited above.) And dammit, you're right! I completely forgot that I need to keep bugging Mr. Bum to get his version of the character out. Thanks for the reminder!
