| Women Of Silver: Wonder Girl SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2007/4/21 19:06 2432 2
More cartooning shenanigans from S.A.M.! I had the idea to do tributes to DCs' Silver Age heroines and decided to start with Donna Troy in both her original and later costumes. More to come,if you want.
First Appearance Donna as WG: The Brave and the Bold #60(1965) 1st app. Donnas' red costume: Teen Titans #23(1968) |

| Spiderman In Black(for Spidey month) SilverAgeMage Marvel Comics 2007/5/16 22:52 2477 7
The weekend sections of my local newspapers had some really good pics from Spiderman 3,so I decided to use them as reference for some pencil drawings.
Spidey time! |

| Lady Heromorph meets...Beavis and Butt-Head?! SilverAgeMage TV and Movies 2006/7/16 18:54 2637 7
I've been wanting to do B&B for a while, so I thought their reaction to the lovely Ladys'"big thingies" would be a natural. I Pen-tooled around a model to get LHs' amazing curves, but it's no manip. Everything else is freehand, mostly with Pen, in Photoshop 7.0. |

| Supergirl and Catgirl from DK2 SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2007/3/28 16:23 2870 2
I wanted to manip these two from Frank Millers' "The Dark Knight Strikes back",but couldn't find suitable photos. So,I decided to do them in my seldom-seen cartooning style.Whaddaya think? |
|
| Jennifer Morgan from "The Warlord" SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2006/11/24 17:25 2926 2
Remember Travis Morgans' sorceress daughter from the '70s and'80s "Warlord" series? I used a photo of a girl in a Scarlet Witch costume as a base, but got rid of the pic-this is all Photoshop. Whaddaya think? |
|
| Sinestro SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2004/7/23 18:37 3145 3
I just did Katma Tui, and 'tho' this guy is no Halle Berry, I thought I'd do the Green Lantern Corps arch-nemisis. I've been getting some very good tips lately on how to sharpen up my work. I hope it's working. What do you guys think? I really appreciate all the suggestions and comments you guys give me! (Even if they're not always complimentary- Be tough- the Mage can take it !) |
|
| Adam Strange SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2004/6/26 13:01 3176 13
After playing both Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers, who better than Buster Crabbe (again) as Adam, Zeta-beaming onto Rann from Earth? Jennifer Connelly as Alanna. Watch for a helmeted version later. |
|
| composite superman SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2004/5/17 21:49 3253 2
Actor/bodybuilder Steve Reeves was the model for Joe Meach, the janitor who received the powers of The Legion of Super-Heroes after being struck by lightning. |
|
| The Flash and Kid Flash SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2004/8/12 16:27 3274 3
I've spent so much time doing obscure Silver Age characters that I thought it was about time I did a genuine S.A. bigshot. So, here's a pic of Barry Allen and his nephew-in-law Wally West taking a leisurely jog through Central City. I used a couple of college athletes for the Fastest Men Alive. |
|
| Starro the Conqueror SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2004/7/11 0:12 3274 4
The Justice League of Americas' first recorded cosmic baddie is sending a mind-controlling starfish your way! |
|
| Captain Arthur Curry, The Aqua-Man SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2005/1/21 16:40 3323 6
My entry for the January Challenge. I got this idea after seeing the movie "The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen" a while back: What if some of the JLA were around in Victorian England? So, here's Aquaman as a Captain Nemo- type, complete with Nautilus-like sub. Note the hand- I used a cutlass instead of a hook. Let me know what you think! |
|
| Birdman SilverAgeMage TV and Movies 2004/8/27 21:54 3332 4
Before he became Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law, Birdman was my favorite of Hanna-Barberas' animated super-heroes. He could fire solar blasts and create energy shields, which made him cooler than other winged characters. His eagle is Avenger, and, yes, folks, he's purple. They're both seen leaving the "Bird-lair". |
|
| Mirror Master SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2005/1/30 12:46 3375 6
Hi, guys, I'm back! On reflection, Sam Scudder was my favorite member of the Flashes' Rogues Gallery. (ouch!) Vin Diesel as Mirror Master, giving Barry and Wally seven years of bad luck. Let me know what you think, okay? |
|
| Catwoman '69 SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2006/6/24 19:22 3375 5
1969, that is! (Made ya look!)The Selina Kyle I remember best is the one with the purple slit skirt, but I wanted to do something a bit different,so I went with the costume from the late '60s and early '70s (what else would you expect from your Friendly Neighborhood S.A.M.?) |
|
| Golden Age Green Lantern SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2004/6/23 10:55 3436 1
Actor Buster Crabbe takes a break in costume from filming his unreleased 1943 movie serial "Green Lantern". And, no, I'm not changing my name to "Golden Age Mage"! Just thought I'd try something different. |
|
| krypto SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2004/5/17 21:44 3477 5

|
| Raven SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2005/2/4 10:45 3535 9
Didn't want to post this so soon after Wasmiths' excellent pic of her, but I was half finished with this when he posted his, so here goes. Tried a little Roger Dean style on the background- he's the artist that painted Yes album covers in the '70s. So, what do you folks think? |
|
| Platinum On The Rocks SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2007/12/14 18:57 3560 8
Hi,Guys and Gals! Sorry I've been away so long, but I lost my Internet connection a couple months ago,but S.A.M.is back!
Thought the contrast between metal and rock would be good. Plus I haven't had the artistic guts to try Jr.'s metal 'tute in a while. Whaddaya think?
Model: Huda Helnose |
|
| Mary Marvel #1,000,000 SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2006/7/6 16:54 3641 6
Sorry I'm a bit late for Mary Marvel week. I liked the "DC One Million" mini-series a few years ago,so I thought I'd do The World's Mightiest Girl 853rd century style, down to the weird metallic costumes the future heroes wore. Kirsten Dunst as Mary. And, check out the "comics code" symbol! |
|
| Element Girl and Metamorpho SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2006/6/19 16:54 3657 5
Metamorpho's one of my favorite Silver Age heroes, and I've been dying to do his female counterpart, the late, great Urania Blackwell for quite some time, so here they are! Wrestler(and fellow 'Burgh boy) Kurt Angle as Rex and Lindsay Mulinazzi's head on a thumnail as E-Girl. The're standing in front of the rose-colored pyramid where the got their powers. |

| Rulah, Jungle Goddess SilverAgeMage Other Comics 2007/7/3 17:20 3664 3
Animal-skin bikini fan that I am,thought I'd do comics' OTHER jungle queen(Sheena being the first, of course). Model: Mercedes Khali |
|
| Fire: One Hot Little Lass SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2006/8/26 17:56 3665 4
Gosh,I hate to work poor Karen Zaremba so hard, but she makes a great heroine, doesn't she? And, no, Fire's not pulling that famous college-dorm stunt, either, She doesn't need matches and the flame's not blue. |
|
| Batgirl Over Brazil SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2008/4/16 16:42 3783 5
One good turn deserves another. Several weeks ago, BraZZZil posted a pic inspired by my Batgirl 2018 and used Pittsburgh. So, I thought I'd return the favor by having her over his home turf of Florianopolis. Beautiful city you live in,BraZZZil! |
|
| Shadow Lass and Night Girl SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2006/8/1 17:57 3842 6
Finally got around to doing some Legionaires! I got the idea to team Shady and Substitute Legion memeber Night Girl from a 1975 ish drawn by Mike Grell(don'cha love his costume designs, fellas?!) Models are Figure competitors Moorea Wolfe(Shady)and Karen Zaremba. |
|
| Dawnstar SilverAgeMage DC Comics 2008/1/3 10:23 3893 4
Happy New Year,Everybody! Thought I'd start out 2008 with one of my favorite Legion babes. The wings free-handed in Photoshop-I used a Hawkman Heroclix(and lots of squinting)to get the details. |
