| 'Stripped' - Kirsten Dunst as Husk Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/11/11 1:45 11177 7
This is about the fifth attempt I've had at producing a Husk photomanip - unfortunately none of the others worked out at all. Evidence that not every image works out as you'd hope. I've always liked the character from Generation X to her current run in Uncanny X-men, although it was only when I came to do this photomanip I realised what a gross mutant ability she has. |

| "Black & White" Marvel Team-Up (Sage & Emma Frost) Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/2/14 12:57 9427 10
Didn't come through in time for February's contest, but I decided to go ahead and finish the manip as a personal challenge. My take on the Marvel Team-Up cover using Emma Frost and Sage from the X-men comics.
More frankensteining used on their costumes, which I'm pretty pleased with as (for once) I've stuck true to canon. Lot of work went into Sage's costume. By comparison Emma's was easy. (Probably since there's so little of it ;) Comments appreciated as always.. |
|
| "Class Reunion" - The New Mutants Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/1/24 14:29 9019 10
Finally finished this piece which has taken me just over a month in all to complete. Would have been done sooner but kept adding more characters.
In the end from left to right, with their actors and actresses, the characters are Sunspot Aka Roberto DeCosta (Wilmer Valderrama), Mirage Aka Danielle Moonstar (Karina Lombard), Meltdown Aka Tabitha Smith (Christina Applegate), Magma Aka Amara Aquilla (Unknown), Wolfsbane Aka Rahne Sinclair (Kiera Knightley), Karma Aka Xi'an Coy Manh (Jaymee Ong) and Cannonball Aka Samuel Guthrie (Christopher Masterson).
All work was done in Photoshop 7 using a mix of visual effects created with Photoshop's own filters in conjunction with Eye Candy 4000 and Alien Skin Xenofex.
Hope everyone agrees the end result was worth all the work. |
|
| "Mirror Image" - Dominique Swain as Magik Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/11/9 17:01 8528 9
Magik from the Inferno storyline gets the manip treatment in this X-men image. |
|
| "Memorium" - Maggie Q as Psylocke Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/2/5 6:47 8359 10
Originally I planned to produce an image of the early Psylocke from the X-men comics, but gradually that changed to producing two manips of Betsy then and her more recent incarnation (in the body of an Asian ninja). In the end though, the latter took over completely. (It was a lot easier to find pictures of women in leather than pink chifon. Go figure.) A large number of pictures were used in the creation of this manip - The legs are Sarah Michelle Gellar's, the torso created from a number of leather tops. All in all it's a bit of a mix mash, the only 'complete ' element is the face of Hong Kong star Maggie Q as Psylocke's actress.
(Edit - Tidied up the hair and arms where they looked a bit blurred, as well as trying to standardise her flesh and leather tones.) |
|
| "Ice Queen" - Charlize Theron as Emma Frost Angelophile Marvel Comics 2005/5/28 7:21 7829 16
Another figure completed for my ongoing Generation X manip - Almost there now. Just have Penance to go...
I'm pretty pleased with how this one turned out - the manip was fairly straightforwards - a blend of an unnamed model and Emma's costume constructed in part from a statue version of the character. I cheated a little there, but tidied up a fair bit of the detail and, of course, frankensteined the head of the beautiful Miss Theron into place. I can't think of a more suitable actress for the White Queen.
The costume is based on Frank Quitely's version from New X-men.
This is the second version of Emma I was working on for the Gen X manip - perhaps in time I'll finish the other version and post that too. |
|
| 'Perfect' - Bianca Lawson as Monet Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/11/12 7:31 7037 9
M was created using a number of different model's pics - her body is made up from a few images of Christina Aguilera, Dona Speir, Izabella Miko and others. M's actress is Bianca Lawson, probably most well known as Kendra the Slayer from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The outfit came from various sources, again Christina Aguilera as well as various pics of the cast of Coyote Ugly from FHM magazine if I remember rightly. |
|
| "Bad to the Bone" - Fairuza Balk as Marrow Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/1/27 3:27 6962 9
Another old pic but one I'm most pleased with. This photomanip takes one of the most underrated X-men characters and uses Fairuza Balk (The Craft, American History X) as her 'fantasy casting'. The body model is Angelina Jolie, taken from a Tomb Raider publicity still. Bones came from various sources. |
|
| 'Untouchable' - Claire Danes as Rogue Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/11/5 5:33 6927 9
This Rogue was based almost entirely on the X-men Evolution cartoon version, going for a more 'goth' look.
Rogue's actress is Claire Danes who has the vulnerable/tough as nails blend going for her. Her outfit comes from various sources, and in many cases a blend of one or more items of clothing. Some of her outfit can be found at www.cluboutfits.com. |
|
| "Intangible" - Lacey Chabert as Shadowcat Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/1/12 3:18 6893 5
Since I've been a bit tied up working on a new manip, I have a couple of old pieces still to post. This is one of them. Obviously inspired by the comic look for Shadowcat, Lacy Chabert sprung to mind after her appearance in Lost in Space and she seems to have the right look for the young Kitty Pryde.
Images came from various sources - the clothing is a blend of actual clothes and in some places simply the manipulation of skin with the Smart Blur tool to give a leather effect. The basic pose is Kelly Brook, and for once I didn't do an awful lot beyond adding clothing, combining various elements from fashion websites. |
|
| The Wonderful Thing About Tigras Angelophile Marvel Comics 2007/3/19 16:08 6787 15
Wow, hard to believe my last submitted photomanip was in 2005. Life just snowballs sometimes and I have a load of unfinished manips which'll probably never see the light of day. To get me back into things I decided to do a quick photomanip of Tigra (although quick is a relative term in my case) for no real reason other than I saw a pic I thought was suitable. I barely know the character beyond her Civil War appearances, so if I've missed some important detail off this piece of cheesecake, I apologize.
The model used is Sabrina Rojas. |
|
| "Ecstacy" - Angelina Jolie as Stacy X Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/1/14 5:02 6780 2
Continuing my posting of my older manips while I play catch up with my New Mutants pic.
Stacy isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I was just beginning to really like the character when she was binned from Uncanny X-men. So this is my tribute to a character with a lot of potential. Got to love the self proclaimed 'first X-man to make a living on her back'.
The snake skin effects were produced with photos of various snakes from the web, combined with other reptile pics, and then imported with use of the opacity and hue and saturation control panels in Photoshop 7.
The background image came from a performance troupe called the Fluffgirl Society. Don't ask me what they perform, I didn't dare guess from the pic.

|
| "Unmovable" - Michael Badalucco as Blob Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/12/1 2:27 6089 2
Because I just -know- everyone on this forum wants to see more semi-naked fat men. Go on. Admit it, you do!
*ahem* Okay, maybe not.
It was mostly created using a number of pictures of weightlifters and bodybuilders and then deforming them in Photoshop with the liquify tool and spherize tool to fatten him up, while trying not to distort the idea he's strong not just obese. Hope it works. Blob's actor is Michael Badalucco, a semi-familiar face from films like Leon, Summer of Sam, The Man Who Wasn't There and O Brother Where Art Thou? |
|
| "Mall Rat" - Victoria Jolly as Jubilee Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/12/16 11:28 5793 4
I'd been toying with the idea of a Jubilee manip for a while, but didn't get around to doing anything about it until fairly recently - for Jubilee's actress I've used model/actress Victoria Jolly who seems to have the features and youngish looks that Jubilee has always had. I've had fun with this image, lifting elements from around 30 other model pics to create the image - for example, the coat is actually made up from 3 different jackets, the top Jubilee is wearing is from Christina Aguilera, the legs are Donna Air's, the hair came from a style catalogue, the hands belong to Krista Allen and Pamela Anderson - there's the usual Frankenstein's mix of body parts there. |
|
| "Wild" - Kiera Knightley as Wolfsbane Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/11/22 2:18 5748 7
Went completely over the top with this one and decided to do not just one manip of Rahne of New Mutants and X-men fame, but all three of her forms. I've attempted to bring some sense to it by doing it in 'comic strip' form. Hope people think it works. |
|
| "Excalibur - The Sword Reforged" Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/12/9 4:59 5742 15
I started off just intending to do a manip of Callisto, but as usual decided to give myself a little more of a challenge. Callisto herself was pretty challenging, lots of tentacles for her new look. Her 'actress' is Carrie Anne Moss, Wicked is Jennifer Love Hewitt, while Magneto and Xavier are based on the movie versions played by Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
The completed image was around 90 layers in photoshop. Maybe next time I should keep things simpler. ;) . |
|
| Starjammer's Hepzibah - Britanny Murphy Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/12/4 2:30 5727 10
Done purely on a whim - when browsing through my X-men Encyclopedia I stumpled across an entry for Hepzibah - The Mephitisoid member of the Starjammers (that's alien cat-skunk person to me and you).
The 'actress' I've cast as Madame Hepzibah is Britanny Murphy (from 8 Mile amonst other things) who seemed to have the right dirty sexuality for a cat person. And the right hair. ;) |
|
| "Luck Be A Lady" - Michelle Rodriguez as Domino Angelophile Marvel Comics 2003/12/8 2:03 5648 5
I must admit, Domino's not a character who I've followed particularly closely in the X-men comics (or X-Force or wherever it was she turned up) but she has an intriguing look, if not character.
Elements come variously from pics of Emily Booth, Lara Croft and various generic female models. The 'actress' used for Domino is Michelle Rodriguez, of Blue Crush, Resident Evil and The Fast and The Furious fame. She seemed to have the look of someone who could wipe the floor with you and spit on your grave. |
|
| "The Next Generation" - Generation X Angelophile Marvel Comics 2005/7/8 2:40 5357 13
I've been working on this manipsince last November/December time, so this represents over six months of work. Pretty much my magnum opus and all that.
So, here's Generation X in all their glory. They are: Charlize Theron as The White Queen, Kenneth Branagh as Banshee, Milla Jovovich as Penance, Zhang Ziyi as Jubilee, James Marsters as Chamber, Bianca Lawson as Monet, Kirsten Dunst as Husk, J. August Richards as Synch and Dante Basco as Skin.
This was the mother of all frankensteining jobs - don't ask me how many man hours and layers went into this baby - too many to mention.
I hope the end result was worth the effort.

|
| "Twilight" - Thandie Newton as Nocturne Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/2/13 4:07 5008 4
Nocturne, the alternate reality daughter of Nightcrawler and the Scarlet Witch from the Exiles comic was a character I felt would be challenging as a photomanip. And, to be honest, it was inspired by a photo of Jolene Balock in subdued lighting from Maxim. The pic seemed to suit so well I was inspired to produce this photomanip.
The angles have all been changed to allow Nocturne to be clinging to the rockface rather than sprawled on the floor. Colourations were changed in Photoshop as per usual. All in all she's ended up looking rather like her Granny Mystique which is no bad thing. |
|
| "Hardwired Goddess" Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/2/9 5:21 4811 7
A portrait I have produced inspired by a character from X-men End Times mux (Telnet xet.vulpine.org 2104) played by a friend of mine. This is Kelly Hiraga, otherwise known as Hardwire, technopath, daughter of the mythos Old One Nyarlathotep and currently, for the second time dead. The image uses Zhang Ziyi (from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) as a model for the face, model Kona Carmack for the body, while the metalic effects are both inspired by and blended with elements of Giger's work. |
|
| New Mutants Taster Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/1/12 15:27 4761 6
Just a preview of the manip I'm currently working on - this is the part for Dani Moonstar that I finished tonight.
Hopefully it leaves people wanting to see more. ;)
Comments always appreciated so I can get it right on the final version! |
|
| "Hayseed" - Generation X's Husk Angelophile Marvel Comics 2005/1/6 0:14 4661 9
Another of the manips I was working on for my Generation X team shot, again I figured this one stood up as an individual image - or did after some tweaking. No major special effects, just a recreation of Paige's current X-men costume - I think it looks pretty good after a few initial problems. Paige's actress is Kirsten Dunst, as with the earlier manip I did of her. |
|
| "Atrophy" - Generation X's Penance Angelophile Marvel Comics 2005/6/18 12:59 4655 13
The final figure for my Generation X manip, Penance has actually come together pretty quickly - it took about three or four hours to complete this image. The costume was maniped from various straitjacket pics, with an unnamed model providing the basic catsuit.
Penance's "actress" is Mila Jovovich. The hair started ut as dreadlocks and I created the spins using Photoshop's liquidize tool.
I'm pretty pleased with the end result - I think the hair's an improvement over the previous Penance figure I did. |
|
| "Free" - Heath Ledger as Angel Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/1/21 1:49 4298 4
Continuing my posting of my older manips.
A photomanip that sprung to mind for no particular reason other than it will get a few friends of mine swooning. :) The actor Heath Ledger (of A Knight's Tale fame) seemed to have the right features and 'look' for Warren as I imagined him. His face was a basis for the manip. The body came from a random tailoring site, while the feet came from another image. The background was also found randomly on the web. The wings are an amalgamation of those worn by Alan Rickman in Dogma and some worn by Jennifer Lopez for a FHM photoshoot. The image was compiled in Photoshop 7 and finished off using the Little Fluffy Clouds filter.

|
| "Alone" - Milla Jovovich as Penance Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/6/26 4:11 4162 6
It's been a while but at last I managed to finish a new manip. This time of Penance from the Generation X Series.
I won't deny this one's been a challenge - I started out with a pic of a nude Angie Everhart and built up the costume from various other pics. I think there's about 50 or so layers in the costume alone. Her spines are a blend of sea urchin's, porcupines and any other spikey images I could find.
The model is Milla Jovovich, about the only one with that otherworldly quality that Penance needs.
Comments appreciated! |
|
| "Hollow Man" - Generation X Angelophile Marvel Comics 2005/1/6 0:13 4004 11
I was working on Jono as part of my ongoing Generation X photomanip (it's coming, slowly but surely), when I realised that this pic of Jono kinda worked by itself as a standalone image. So like the other manip I did of Monet, I stripped this out and set it up as its own image. Pretty pleased with the end result. His bio-nuclear psionic biokinetic field was almost as much of a bitch to manip as it is to spell. I used James Marsters as a Jono's 'actor'. |
|
| "T'ief in De Night" - X-treme X-men Gambit Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/8/23 14:10 3846 6
As usual, been working on this a while with varying degrees of success. I almost scrapped the entire piece, but decided to persevere and I think things fell into place. Here Mutant X's Victor Webster has been cast as Gambit.
This was about 80 layers in all, the coat was a sunnuvabitch to manip/frankenstein together.
As always, comments welcome! |
|
| "Little Miss Perfect - Redux" Angelophile Marvel Comics 2004/12/25 15:32 3810 4
Thanks to everyone who made comments on the previous version of this pic. Some good points raised, stuff I wasn't sure on myself, so I've reworked it some. Added detail to the trim of the costume, resized the head, lowered the shoulders and played some with the neck. Hopefully this will meet approval better than the first! :) |
|
| "Mallrat 2" - Jubilee Angelophile Marvel Comics 2005/6/25 11:24 3753 5
I'd actually done a version of Jubilee for my Generation X group manip a few months ago, but when I was compiling the final image I had a sudden attack of perfectionism and decided that the original left something to be desired. At first I was only gonna tweek but I've ended up doing the shot entirely from scratch.
The final image was about 60 or so layers, the coat being the most complicated - it's surprisingly hard to get decent images of a yellow coat so plenty of "Frankesteining" was required to put it together. Adjust Hues is your friend.
Zhany Ziyi (Couching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) became Jubilee's "actress."
Quite pleased with the end result, got really fiddly, even down to Jubilee's London Underground earings.
