Last year in 2012 I set a challenge with the guys in my comics crew to use this spread of 4 loose elipses to create some characters from. In order to illustrate the idea I got a little carried away and drew 8 alternates for each elipse-type.

The Grand Truth is...Hell is so much more then you know. Would you like to hear this? I think it's an important lesson, this.
Hell is not a place of suffering and brimstone. It is alive. A dimension, an entire universe, living, thinking, HATING. Unknowably large, incomprehensibly old, impossibly chaotic--Hell is what Lovecraft would have written about, if he were completely insane. Hell eats Cthulu for breakfast, and washes it down with some Arwassa for dessert. And a thing so vast and alien and...beyond you, you small, stupid, ape of a creature, could never stoop so low as to actually speak with an insignificant insect like you. And even if it wanted to, your clumsy meat-mind could never comprehend it's omnivorous will. And so, I am. Me, not a demon, not a man, not anything more then an ambassador. A masthead. I am more then the King of All-Damned, girl. I am the very Voice of Hell itself. It is me. I am It. It wills, and I do. I will, and It responds. We are One. The Mind, and the Body, inseparable. Formed by the group's formidable leader The Starfighter, the team includes Vengeance (front left), Split (front right); Mr Nobody, The Black Beacon, Maniakill, Pace (middle row, left to right); Shevil - The Beelzebabe, Master Mage, and D.O.A. - The Undead Ninja (back, left to right).
I could tell ya what each character is all about, but then I'd have to kill ya...
This was just originally to be a colour-schemes test I did after drawing it in 2008, so I still plan on colouring it for proper sometime... later. |

My first image of 2013! It's partly a retrospective of all the character profiles that I've done up to this point, and partly a way to ring in the new year with a somewhat large boast that my future offerings are going to surpass anything done so far. Here's hoping that I can indeed live up to my claim!  It's also my very own long awaited re-introduction of a character that I haven't used since 2007, Mindwave. She's not the first character that I ever created, but she's one of the first that I ever started using online for different sites, contests and etc. so she has a special place in the CSCU, and I thought it was appropriate to use her in my little play on words here to usher in the new year instead of going with my "New Year's Eve" character or someone else like my version of "Father Time" like I've done in the past. |

| O.C. - The Spirit of Kwanzaa

| After making a trio of Jewish/semi-Hanukkah inspired heroes, and a whole slew of Christmas-themed heroes, I decided to try my hand at creating a character for the third most prominent of winter holidays, Kwanzaa. "Spirit of Kwanzaa" here is the result. I do not celebrate Kwanzaa myself, and before I created this character, I knew zero about it other than that it involved lighting candels much like people do during Hanukkah. So, it was very interesting doing the research about all the concepts and ideals that make up the celebration in order to work it all into an origin for him and bring it all together as the basis for his powers and abilities. Also, while he has a tragic origin involving gun violence around a winter holiday, I want to make it clear that I am in no way making any kind of political statement in light of similar tragedies that have occurred during this 2012 holiday season. I wrote this long before any of those events occurred, and anything I have written for this character is purely and oddly coincidental. (I would never make light of anything like that anyway.) My intent was strictly to create an impactful origin for the character in the vein of similar "avenging spirit" types such as "Deadman" or "The Specter." |

| Elfgirl Jane is the top female elf at Santa's Workshop, making her the distaff counterpart to Mac. She has more than a working professional relationship to him though, as she's also his girlfriend. And, like him, she too enjoys going on adventures with the other Christmas heroes and helping out in any way that she can. Her evil clone is appropriately known as, "Evilgirl Jane," and just like all the others who have such dark twins, Evilgirl is a constant thorn in Elfgirl's side, but the good Jane is a happy-go-lucky girl who doesn't let her evil doppelganger get her and her friends down. |

| Elfman Mac is my original character idea for the top male elf in Santa Claus's crew at his workshop. When he's not doing his duties at the North Pole, he enjoys going on adventures with the other Christmas heroes of the CSCU. He too has an evil counterpart in, "Evilman Mac," with whom he is constantly at odds with. |

| Crystal is my version of Frosty's wife. The inspiration for her comes from a couple of sources. One is that I remember there being one of those Christmas specials that showed Frosty having a wife and kids, and I think that the wife's name was Crystal. The second is that growing up, one of our decorations for the house for Christmas was this set of paper characters that you could stick on windows and reuse every year. It included a Santa & Mrs. Claus, and a male & female snowman which I assumed was supposed to represent Frosty and his wife. The decorations however, never gave any names to the characters being represented. Like Frosty though, I've of course created my own unique representation of how I want the character of his wife to be. She is a young, sweet, sexy and spunky heroine who leads her people along with her husband, and is always ready to help him and the other Christmas heroes clean up the bad guys with her magical mop! |

| Yes, he is "Frosty the Snowman," but he really is my own unique character which really has nothing to do with the classic holiday character other than being a living magical snowman and sharing the exact same name. His origin is completely different, and is my own story which I made up and tied to the foe(s) of my Christmas characters. My Frosty here is also one of the Christmas heroes, but his personality is also nothing like what the classic Frosty is like. He is a tough, no-nonsense guy who is also the leader of an entire race of beings just like him, and while he's not as surly as his evil counterpart, "Frostbite," he can still swing a mean broomstick when fighting the bad guys. |

| And, the third member of my Jewish super-hero trio is, Bark Mitzvah, a.k.a. "Muzzle Tov," the pet dog of the boy and girl who join rings, shout SHALOM, and become powerful adult super-heroes. Muzzle Tov/Bark Mitzvah was inspired of course by Krypto the Super-dog, and his name actually comes from a real ceremony that some Jewish people put on for their dogs when the animals reach a canine equivalent for adulthood. Even though he becomes super-intelligent, and gains a portion of his masters' powers in canine form, he cannot make the change himself and must wait for them to transform, by which he will change also. In this way he was also a bit inspired by various cartoons from my youth where some heroes had animal companions that they could bestow with power as well after they finished transforming themselves. |

| As explained in the comments for her brother, this gal is his twin sister, who like her brother can join rings with him and say aloud the word SHALOM, which transforms the two of them from average teenagers into powerful adult super-heroes. As they are inspired by the Marvel Family mostly, (with a little bit of the Wonder Twins thrown in since I needed a fail safe for the all too common "code word" of Shalom), each letter of their code word stands for a different Jewish/Old Testament hero or figure of importance. |

| Since this is the season of not just the Christian holiday of Christmas, but also the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, I've created a trio of distinctly Jewish heroes to inhabit my Coolstar Comics Universe. I am not Jewish, but as a Christian, obviously have roots in that faith, yet I had to do a lot of research to make these guys work. Also, while none of them really have anything to do with Hanukkah exactly, I did decide to give them the menorah as their symbol, however they do retain the traditional Star of David on their matching signet rings. Overall, they are obviously based upon a mix between DC's Marvel Family and The Wonder Twins, also from DC Comics, and their names are from the rites of passage into adulthood from their faith. |

| Last, but not least is my version of St. Raphael the Archangel as I utilize him in my own comics universe. All three of the Archangels - Michael, Gabriel and Raphael here sometimes play important roles in the CSCU in giving guidance to the various heroes that inhabit it, and sometimes even helping them combat evil as good angelic warriors should. |

| My version of St. Gabriel the Archangel. I use the biblical trio of Michael, Gabriel and Raphael as characters sometimes in my comics universe. Gabriel is more appropriate for this time of year than the other two due to his role in the story of the birth of Jesus, but I can't really have one without the others, so I've decided to post all three of their bios together. |
