I have tracked down Nechronos to a strange looking temple, but as I enter I realize something is amiss there's a temporal signature to be certain, but no bad guy...the inscriptions on the walls are so ancient that my universal database has nothing on them. I approach what appears to be a computer interface and examine the keys, but as I approach I feel something pulling at me. I try to jump back but it's got me, I can't move...I can't move? I'm a freaking god for crying out loud what is this thing? Then I hear a voice, a voice I have not heard in some time, one that used to soothe me but now fills my very being with fear and dread.
"I will have what is mine!!!"
The voice is booming and echoes in the vast chamber and still I struggle against it in utter futility then i see it, the form of a giant spider with the torso of a dark elf.
"Moonshaddow?"
A split second after I utter the name my body explodes in pain. I can feel the divine power being drawn from me and into her. It is unlike anything I have ever felt and none of my Ninja training had ever prepared me for. I feel as though every bone in my body is being crushed and then set aflame. I can't help but scream it lasts but a few moments but they feel like an eternity. Then just as quickly as it began it ends, and the pain vanishes. I am keenly aware that I am no longer a god and that my powers are completely gone, moreover my armor has returned to normal, and considering I was wearing armor provided to me by the Black Mantis that's pretty spectacular.
I'm not sure if the being in front of me is Moonshadow or not, but she was killed by an immortal with my sword so she shouldn't be able to return to the living. The giant spider-elf in front of me speaks again and in the blinding light I still can't quite make out her face. The voice however, that I recognize.
"Do not fear my darling."
Tears well up in my eyes as the I am calmed to my very soul. I don't know how it is possible but my Moonshadow has returned.
"H-How? You were...he was immortal...with my blade. This shouldn't be possible."
"No darling he was not immortal. None of them are, they are pale shadows of the original and their lifespans are limited. Their creator is tied to them and when his life ends theirs will too."
"What? But they're trying to help me, despite his control."
"No, they are trying to help their master who has commanded them to destroy you."
I run to her arms hoping it's not some sort of illusion, she stretches out her arms to hold me once more and in a flash my Moonshadow is holding me once again. The spider aspect has vanished and for the first time in a while the rage inside me subsides.
"Wait, How is this possible? Why would Nechronos lead me here? I mean he'd have to know what the result would be."
"Yes, he knew that your coming here would strip you of the gift of my divinity. He fears you and having this power made you unstoppable. He knows I am bound by divine decree to not directly interfere in the affairs of mortals."
"And that would put me at a disadvantage."
"Yes but he must think I'm some sort of moron if he even thinks for a second that I can do nothing. I have a question for you darling."
"What?"
"Would you die for me?"
"I uh- Of course I would!"
"Swear it. Swear that you would die for me, that your heart and soul belong to me, swear it and mean it!"
"I-I swear it."
"Take off your armor, and kneel before me. Trust me my love."
The familiar hiss of air echoes in the air as the hermetic seal is broken and I smell the damp mildew laced air. Moonshadow reaches out to touch me and again I hope to myself that this is not some sort of deception. She is my weakness, for her I would do anything even lay myself vulnerable. As her hand touches my head I feel strange, powerful, strong, I look at my arms and my skin has returned to it's pink color, but that doesn't last for long as a blackness born from the darkest abyss takes it's place. The room which had been bright before is now blinding I can barely see through it.
"I have made you my Scion, my champion. My love you are mine now and forever, you swore it and i will hold you to your vow for time eternal. You are mine to have, to love, to command. This power is a gift born of shadows. You will not be so powerless when my enemies meet you. Nechronos will die at your hands, now swear it!"
"I swear it, he will die at my hands! I will make him pay for all that he has done to us."
"Then come my love and let me show you all that you have become. As my scion you cannot serve any other master Analaeus Sathari will need a new High Justiciar."
I hadn't thought of that but perhaps he'll appoint Harley. I'll deal with that when this is over, for now, my mistress beckons and I obey happily. His plan was cute but I think he may have made me more dangerous for his efforts. When we finally meet there won't be anything that can save him. |

Character I last touched several years ago, and am bringing back out for potential use in an play-by-post forum game of Champions. The original was a Supergirl expy, but I'm thinking about revising her to a "pretty brick", without flight -- more in line with Luke Cage or The Thing, in terms of powers.
Vicky 4, Daz Studio, my own dial turning and deformer work for the character. Hair is Effa hair, top is the V4 courageous tunic with a 3rd-party freebie texture pack I picked up long ago. Gloves are from the Roxana Yaroslavna pack, jeans from the Flower Power set on Renderosity. Rendered in LuxRender with Reality. |

| We all know we could be walking into a trap, I mean just because we’re getting a signal doesn’t mean he’s anywhere near it. In no time we're in, we step out of the vent just in time for a guard to spot us, but before I can even reach my gun Cheetah's on top of him sometimes I forget just how fast she is. The guard is only disabled even though she has lethal weapons available and I'm reminded of the fact that she's a hero and I'm not, because I would have shot him dead. I go into stealth mode and all weapons and gear get silenced. Thanks to the Absorbium 80 no sound emits from me or my gear. A handy side effect of the metal's properties to be sure. A push of a button and all the light gets absorbed too. There really isn't much this metal doesn't absorb. If it weren’t for the wiring running in and out of this suit I wouldn’t be able to hear or see a thing |

| Sitting my husband’s office I only want to be close to him in some small way. I have tried to be closer to him but somehow I always feel as though his heart is in some distant place far away from me. My heart almost breaks as I sit behind his desk and gaze at the two pictures placed at his right. The dead woman who crushed him and whose life was stolen from him. A woman of considerable power and conviction or so I am told. A warrior like myself and a mighty hero whose speed was something of legend. I have met Panterra, he and my husband speak fondly of Sarah, the Cheetah. Her armor hung in our quarters for years until my dear husband gave it to her successor with tear filled eyes. The other picture… Aini who has been nothing but kind to my sisters and I since the day we arrived. She has done so much as both mentor and guide, helping us to truly understand our Dear Rusco, and while I was fully prepared to share my husband’s affections with my sisters I had no clue that Aini had already placed a claim on his heart. She would never say it though she truly wants him to be happy with us. Still I can sense his feelings toward her are strong. She is an exquisite in her form and her mannerisms. Everything she does is so flawless and her kindness is completely genuine. So why do hate these women who have never done me a single wrong so much? Because here in his office where his stresses are the greatest, theirs are the only images that bring him comfort. I want him to love me the way he loves them, to think of me like he does them. I can’t confront the dead, and Aini is so sweet how could I possibly be angry with her? Her powers let her be all of the things he desires in a woman. My jealousy has pushed me to a point where I have altered my appearance to more closely resemble her. Her features, here face, even her hair. But how do I compete with what she can be? My powers are greater than hers, as a dragon I can take any form I choose, I could read his innermost thoughts and desires and be that, but she doesn’t have to. She just becomes whatever his heart desires no matter what that is. I look upon her and I seethe with jealousy and anger, I want him to myself and I begin to envy even his relationship with my dear sister Lote’. I just want him to love me, I know that if I am courageous enough, confident enough… Even powerful enough, then surely he will begin to see me as does Sarah and Aini even Danielle. I refuse to compete with memories, he and I are immortal beings bound by destiny so why do I keep thinking of him the way mortals do? Why does my every thought center around possessing his heart like some grand treasure hoard? Am I changing? Becoming more dragon than woman? If so what happens to us? I can never surrender to these feelings but I know in my heart I must do whatever it takes to make him happy, to make him see me the way he sees them. |

"When the black costumed vigilante Thoth began waging a campaign to wipe out crime in his neighborhood of Hughes' Point, white real-estate developer Randall Bates moved to try and stop him, fearing that if Thoth's campaign were successful, his own efforts to buy up and gentrify the neighborhood would fail. As the makeup-slathered gangster named Blackface, he plunged Hughes' Point back into chaos and left Thoth (and his alter ego, Sam Ibis) crippled.
"Bates is dead now, but Blackface lives on in the person of his spoiled, vicious daughter Tara, who uses both her business skills and outright violence to rule Hughes' Point with an iron fist.
"But her reign may be coming to an end. Ibis' prot?g?e, the Red Owl, is coming to Hughes' Point to end the makeup-wearing menace once and for all..."
Another rogue for my original superheroine, and some new experimenting with style. I'm planning to render a fight scene between Blackface and Red Owl with a minimal palette of just black, white, and red (although whether or not this will actually work in D|S has yet to be seen...) |

Hey all. Been some time since I've posted here. Been caught up in other things - got a job prospect out in Texas that starts in August, so been trying to prepare for that.
At any rate, here is my latest work. Hopefully the next time I do a comic page, I'll remember that they're supposed to read vertically, not horizontally.
BTW, fajr is the pre-dawn prayer in Islam. The other non-English words are Albanian; you can probably figure out what they mean just through context. |

| Red Howlet & Allies

It's never wise to become a neighborhood superhero without allies who've got your back. For Red Howlet, these are Enver and Qitta. Enver's a Turkish-descended powerhouse, super-strong, super-durable, and able to create shockwaves that can level buildings. His powers are mystical in origin (he creates shockwaves by speaking a magic word), and he's been told that one day he will be forced to use them in a way that will harm or kill many people in order to destroy a great evil. For the most part, though, he's a nice guy who enjoys playing a white knight for pretty girls, though occasionally, he overdoes it, as in this pic.
Qitta, by contrast, is not so much of a powerhouse. Born in Somalia, her family came to America during the war and relied heavily on the charity of 'Allam al-Wafiyah. When the man called Beit took over the Boston offices, he decided that her family owed a debt, and took her as payment, using her in an experiment to see if his powers were great enough to bestow superhuman abilities upon others. He turned her into a feral creature and unleashed her in Little Yugo, hoping she'd be enough of a threat to make the Red Howlet turn to him for help. The transformation crapped out, however, and Qitta reverted back to human form. Of course, Beit has not called off the debt, so Qitta still has to go out in costume whenever Beit orders her to make trouble. She usually ends up helping Red Howlet fight crime. (Thankfully, Beit never bothers to send anyone to make sure Qitta is actually making trouble.)
Of course, every alliance has risks. Both Enver and Qitta have ties to Beit, and Enver in particular believes that, whatever Beit's personal intentions, the coalition that Beit has formed can help him in his efforts to clean up his neighborhood, and would help Red Howlet if she were to join (not to mention the fact that part of him fears that Beit may be the great evil that he is destined to fight.) As such, Red Howlet is constantly aware that one day she might have to fight her friends. |

| The duo of Red Eagle and the Dazzling Nightbird has become something of legend within the five galaxies. Together they have solved legendary crimes and are quickly become one of the most renowned teams in history. While Nightbird cannot fly and has no powers per se she is endowed with an intellect that borders on an advanced AI. Her IQ ranks at an astounding 1250 and her athletic and martial arts abilities are on par with some of the greatest athletes in sports today. She has the uncanny ability to mimic and fighting style she has seen and can memorize codes she sees input by hand. As a team the duo use various methods of transportation and have dozens of specialized "Gimmick" weapons and gadgets. They make their home in the mobile base known as the Roost which is essentially a small, well armed, starbase with space fold capability. |

| This is the Red Eagle He is a brilliant Scientist, Inventor, and Detective. He possesses a sonic Scream he calls the Eagle's Screech, as well as highly advanced weapons and gadgetry. His demeanor is dark and sullen and his sense of humor is practically non-existent. He has trained since the age of 10 in martial arts and hold 5 Black Belts. In other words...this guys is my universe's version of Batman...or relatively close. I am thinking of a sidekick named Peregrine...Just an idea. Oh did I mention my eagle flies? Oh yes and those are his wings...Daddy was an Archeron (Winged Divine Scion) mom was a mortal...it is possible he may be immortal. Of course there's a big "Demons killed my parents" kind of tragedy o make him all Dark and Brooding.
