| BANZAI GIRL: Fi! Fi! Fo! Fum! JinkyCoronado 2009/11/16 20:32 4317 4
He smells the bloods of two Pinoy babes! Little did Jinky and Michelle expect that they would find themselves caught up in a scary fairytale of the giant at the top of the beanstalk!
This was a commission done for a fan of BANZAI GIRLS, based on photos of the fan. :) Coloring is by Katrina Mae Hao.

Yup...as we guessed, the faculty was up in arms over Banzai Girl's skirt, so I did a second version.
Which version do YOU prefer?

| BANZAI GIRL: Fact & Figures (Line Art) JinkyCoronado 2009/10/27 0:34 2793 0
Practically every year, for the Glass House Graphics CREATING COMICS SEMINAR held in Manila, I do the art for the promotional poster. (And I teach a bit there or at least model for the artists.)
So every year, I contribute a Banzai Girl in a different pose, usually holding a pencil. The next Seminar is sometime in January 2010. I did the line art for the poster today, so here's an advance look.

| BANZAI GIRL: Convention Signings! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado 2011/4/25 0:27 2663 1
I've drawn a number of scenes with my character Banzai Girl being menaced by a sinister Snakeman. Recently, I was joking with my sister that it would be funny to be doing Convention signings at the booth with the Snakeman.
She laughed and said, "You should draw that for Heromorph!" So I did!
Hope you like it.

| BANZAI GIRL: CAPTURED BY THE KAPRE`! JinkyCoronado 2009/7/22 12:36 6584 0
You've seen Banzai Girl face the tentacle trees -- but who controls them?
In Filipino myth, there's a creature called the Kapre`, a large, hairy, cigar-smoking tree dweller who has power over certain things in the forest. Sometimes, those pesky Duwende even do his bidding.
But I've never actually spotted a Kapre`, till my friends Michelle and Kat and Rommel joined me in the woods....

| BANZAI GIRL: Aye, Robot! Part 4 JinkyCoronado 2009/7/31 16:54 4521 7
Enough is enough!
Banzai Girl tears free of her shredded schoolgirl uniform, stumbling into the crowd, embarrassed and hurting, but still in one piece. Her friends come to her rescue.
The Overseer and her father both show up, armed with weapons and a flying battlesuit for her. Now she has the gear to battle the metal that wits alone can't overcome.
She's ready to kick ass and take names -- then decides the names don't matter! That giant robot is going down!
(If you're at all curious about this storyline, it all takes place in my full-color series, BANZAI GIRLS #1 through #4 -- on sale in comics shops and available now through my website. Don't be shy. Check it out!)

| BANZAI GIRL: AYE, ROBOT! Part 3 JinkyCoronado 2009/7/30 10:45 8749 9
Seeing her fall, the crowd below rallies and catches our 95-pound beauty, who gets on her feet and races back into the fray against the giant metal machine.
No sooner does Banzai Girl begin to fight back, than the robot begins firing razor-sharp spinning blades at her, pinning her against a wall!

| BANZAI GIRL: AYE, ROBOT! Part 2 JinkyCoronado 2009/7/29 15:00 6740 7
Banzai Girl, knocked into the air by the rampaging robot in the previous scene, helplessly plunges toward the ground!
(A Heromorph fan wrote, betting me over how sexy I could get this sequence to be. Let's see what the other fans say.)
Hope you like!

So: Asian schoolgirl/writer/artist/model in real life. Check. Schoolgirl uniform of exactly the proper fit and length. Check. All the trappings of anime and manga that boys like. Check. What's left?
GIANT ROBOTS! So...a giant robot comes smashing Godzilla-like through her city. What's a Banzai Girl to do? Why, try to save her town, of course!
But the rampaging mass of metal has other plans....

| BANZAI GIRL VS. THE MANANANGGAL! JinkyCoronado 2009/7/17 0:51 7896 5
Hi, again! --
One poster here wanted to see some scenes of me battling various and sundry Asian monsters of myth.
This is the Manananggal, a Filipino version of a vampire, that splits at the waist, leaving its lower half behind while in flight. It sucks the life from unborn babies still within the mother's womb! Majorly creepy!
This is drawn by me, with color by Michael Kelleher.

| BANZAI GIRL VS. THE DUWENDE! JinkyCoronado 2009/7/17 19:39 13265 6
Continuing the theme of the monsters....
In Filipino mythology, the Duwende were strange dwarf creatures that haunt the night, often seen darting out from the edges of forests -- crossing roads and spotted in headlights.
Having lived in the Philippines for the first 20 years of my life, I could swear to glimpsing them in the evenings, while riding home from school in a jeepney.
As the story goes, one day I missed the jeepney ride and got pulled into the forest, where the Duwende made themselves known!

| BANZAI GIRL VS THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS! JinkyCoronado 2009/9/9 22:18 5082 9
Football season is beginning, and a devout Pittsburgh Steelers fan asked me to create a scene with "Jinky playing football with the Steelers, wearing an abbreviated version of their uniform."
I kept working up different ideas for the scene, then finally settled on this one.
I loved 'em in the Super Bowl last year (yes, I watched it!), and I hope everyone enjoys my tribute.
So what do you think?

| BANZAI GIRL OF THREE WORLDS! JinkyCoronado 2009/7/14 22:01 4115 3
I'm back! This second posting should introduce you all to the world(s) of my character -- BANZAI GIRL. Y'see, in "real life," my character is a college schoolgirl, whose life has made a left turn into weird. Not only do I have these bizarre dreams that I'm either a Futuristic Freedom Fighter or a Princess Jinky...
...but I also find myself battling classic Filipino monsters of myth!
In this illustration, this is all three versions of my character -- Princess Jinky; Banzai Girl; and Freedom Fighter Jinky.
Here's how we created this: I did the drawing of the scene. I then posed for all three figures, in the costumes, which Don Feenerty photographed. And Eugene Perez did the final composite onto the background.

Here's another one, not by me, that I thought I'd share.
This BANZAI GIRL drawing is by Will Conrad, best knows as artist on Dark Horse's projects CONAN, KULL, and Joss Whedon's SERENITY. He also drew Stan Lee's FEEDBACK comic book from WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPER-HERO? and is currently drawing BLACK PANTHER over at Marvel. Coloring is by Michael Kelleher.
Enjoy!

| BANZAI GIRL by Cliff Richards JinkyCoronado 2009/9/22 22:07 6958 4
Happily, I am surrounded by good friends who are also among the top artists in the whole comicbook business!
Artist CLIFF RICHARDS, who drew BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER for Dark Horse for five years, has also drawn ANGEL, STAR WARS, THE SCORPION KING, BIRDS OF PREY, WONDER WOMAN, ROGUE, X-FACTOR, ESCAPE, and lots more. He's currently drawing the graphic novel adaptation of PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES.
And, wonderfully, he took the time to do this pinup of my character, for me to share with you!

| BANZAI GIRL AND THE TIKBALANG JinkyCoronado 2009/7/18 23:41 7259 5
Another monster of menace is the Tikbalang.
Known as a trickster, this half-horse, half-human shapeshifter has been known to lead many a weary traveller astray. Other times, it comes out in search of a mate!
And Banzai Girl, it seems, has caught his eye...

| BANZAI GIRL AND JASMINE: BANZAI GIRL 2.0! JinkyCoronado 2009/11/21 9:38 5289 3
I wanted to do a cute, full-of action scene with my daughter Jasmine and myself zooming through the sky, and this is what I came up with.
Jazzy looks just like me, so at the last Convention I dressed her up as Banzai Girl 2.0. She looked adorable! So I had to work her into one of these Heromorph drawings for you.
Hope you enjoy it!

| BANZAI GIRL -- Light Reading JinkyCoronado 2009/7/17 5:31 7617 10
I see a lot of 2-D hand-drawn illustrations here, so I plan to contribute a whole bunch of these. This is representative of my art style.
My character, Banzai girl, reading in her bedroom. I may do several variations of this as a theme. This one should get things started. :)
This is my art, with coloring by Michael Kelleher.
None of my line art is inked. It's all tight pencils. Here's how I work: I'll do several layouts, figure out what works best, blow the final layout up on a photocopier, then finish the drawing on my light table.

| BANZAI GIRL (and friends!) by Al Rio JinkyCoronado 2009/9/24 13:43 4095 2
Not only is my friend AL RIO is one of the biggest and best artists in comicdom, he's also one of today's premier "good girl artists," as his many commissions on alrioart.com can attest.
These days, Al Rio is the full-time artist on VAMPIRELLA -- plus, he's working on a huge project called NINETY, which you'll hear much more about next year.
Al drew a wonderful illustration showing all three incarnations of Jinky (Princess, Future Freedom Fighter, and Schoolgirl), plus her friends (Michelle, Rommel, and Kat). I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out.

| BANZAI GIRL & GHG ARE MOVING SOUTH! JinkyCoronado 2011/5/19 15:21 3110 2
Completed 5 minutes ago! My idea...but my good friend TINA FRANCISCO drew this. My usual colorist KATRINA MAE HAO colored it. And I'm in it!
Glass House Graphics (the Agency of which I'm a part) is moving June 1st to Orlando, Florida -- and I'm moving there, too!
So here we are, with GHG's head honcho David Campiti merrily driving along from gloom toward sun...with me inside the literal Glass House, and Jasmine enjoying the ride, and Wilfred hanging on for dear life!
Hope you enjoy it!
