The uncolored pic was up in the random art box so I thought I would give it a go coloring since VL contributes so much great stuff to the galleries. Inked/colored/textured in PSPX2. Background after the same fashion i have been doing recently. Really like the silhouettes against the deep blues!

I went and had a look at the gallery and saw VL had colored it also. So i used that scheme in my version. Hope you like VL.

I thought I would have a go at inking it. Done in PSPX2 completely with vector paths. JMDH didn't seem to have a sig or logo so I made one up. hope he likes it ;)

Based on a Bruce Timm sketch.

Thought I would try something different and give it the feel of vector art. Inked using Inkscape then Coloured in PSPX2 as ever. The background comprises many layers of grey shapes interspersed with 'mist' layers created using smudge and gaussian blurred gradients set to screen. Moon is done in similar fashion.

I found the base image in the Heromorph Cookie Jar (cheers to Comicfan for the clean up). Original Artwork by Bruce Timm.

The background was by Tony Hayes (bogwoppet) although I have distressed it somewhat to fit this image.

Coloring etc done in PSP X2

Well i thought I would try my hand at a bit of 3d work in Daz Studio for a change - David 3, Freaky devil tail, kurt suit from Vadlor (my own texture on suit). The skin is a recolor of the base David skin with some adjustments.

Think it turned out ok for a first attempt.

I was sitting at my pc the other night looking through some old inhumans scans and I fancied doing an homage to Kirby Era Black Bolt.

Did the main design from his suit in vectors, duplicated and gaussian blurred. then added many concentric hoops to simulate his scream. I didn't want to ape kirby exactly, so the background is my interpretation of the kirby dots. Enjoy.

I wasn't sure where to put this but I guess Comic Art is the best fit.

Here we find Rahne Sinclair who has just caught the interest of a Savage Land T-Rex.

Well i've had this floating about unfinished for a few years now and finally managed to put it to bed. I seem to recall the pose was the first thing that attracted me to the pic, as it immediately cried out to be  made into a crouching hero - but which one? I decided that I would have a go at Wolfsbane - seeing as I hadn't really attempted fur. The model is estella warren. I cut the body from the background and began layering on hairs. This was build up in patches with additional shading done on each set. The grass was done in a similar way. I can't really recall why I got stuck with it, but I think that it  was the original hair that kept putting me off. In the end I just removed it all and added new hair using a wig image as a base and adding more layers. The background pic I have used before in my Rogue/Gambit transgender.

Just a quick manip of Kristiana Loken as Kara Zo-Rel. Multiple background layers - new york (yes I left in the towers!), couple of exploding planets overlayed and some kryptonian script. Supergirl herself is recolor of Kristiana's original clothes with some alterations to make the belt/skirt and the cape  added from scratch.  The shirt logo was deformed from one i  created using psp vectors. removed some (few) blemishes and enhanced the eye color. Little  ship in the background is  kara escaping the explosion.

Wanted to do  a more realistic version of the current costume, but I prefer the highly  saturated feel, these are comic characters after all.

This is an homage to the helen slater supergirl promo poster of her flying over new york

In a bit of a funk again (and whenever I get really into a pic my pc seems to crash on me which is a bit disheartening!), so anyways here is a pic I did back in december (you may have seen it on C2F) but here it is without compression.

This is the title character from a COM.X comic book. The original image had the girl wearing the tshirt, boots and shorts. Everything else is added. I am particularly happy with the sword slash on the stomach. The poster at the back is from a poster page in the Trade Paperback.

Well this is a manip I have been working on of Kristiana Locken as Supergirl (the actual photomanip isn't finished but I wanted to try something different with what I have done so far.) The original pic of Kristiana was of a magazine cover and she is wearing a purple swimsuit. I manipped on the costume (will provide details when I post the actual finished manip) and then have been trying to tweak it for the past week or so. Anyways I wanted to submit something new and I thought I might try giving it a sketchy look. I have tried this before with various levels of success and failure but I think this one turned out ok. I merged all the layers in my WIP together to get Kristiana in costume cut out on a layer of her own then I found a nice background at eldargraphics.com which matched the lighting and coloring of kristiana quite well. flipped the background to match pose and merged both layers together. duplicated the layer. On one layer I added some random white noise and then used my trusty old penpartner tablet and began to 'scratch' away at the picture to give the impression of pencil strokes. The other layer I used the edge preserving smooth at max and then enhanced edges and finally traced contours to give 'layout' lines and add some definition back to some of the shapes. all in all I think it came out quite well.. and now back to the manip itself.

I found a sketch of superman in my images folder, i'm not sure who it was by, possibly Khary Randolph. Anyway I decided to color it in PSP using vectors. Picked out the best lines from the sketch and used bezier curves to 'ink' the drawing. I didn't like the angle of the left hand (looking at the picture) hand or foot and so drew my own. Then picked my fill colors and line colors. The shadows are done with vectors also and set to multiply at 25%.

The pink sky background I found on google. I added the city skyline at the bottom using filled shapes to create the buildings and set it to soft-light. The superman logo at the back is my own vector one.

I like how it turned out, a sort of retro animation feel.

I saw this base image of an underwear model and I thought he might make a good john stewart GL. And then I had the idea that for some reason he has ended up with two power rings (perhaps Kyle Rayner) was incapacitated) Anyways that's what I thought. This is another of me trying to keep my hand in until I get really inspired.

I should have waited before uploading this.. or I would have noticed I hadn't added my siggie thing... my bad!

Heh but i do get to add some taglines like they have on movie posters.. taken from comments on the previous submission ;) please feel free to vote again ;)

Just resubmitting a larger version
Oldie. Rebecca Romjin Stamos. I think this is one of my favourite of my own manips.

Additional Art Notes: Well, it was about a week, and over 120 layers in the making, but finally here we have Rebecca Romjin Stamos as Barbara Norris aka Brunhilde aka Valkyrie. Starting with an image of RRS standing in what looked like a wheat field, first thing i did was remove out the original collar line of her swim costume. Now it was time to start the suit. I had a couple of attempts before I decided on what you see here. I used the faux leather texture to fill a new layer. I colorized this layer blue, then cut away the extra to leave only the areas that would be the suit With the initial cutting complete, I duplicated this layer twice. the original layer's mode was set to color. the second layer's mode was set to burn at 25% opacity. the third layer's was set to multiply at 75% opacity (obviously i had a bit of experimenting, but these produced the best results. The metals were all created with various layers of gradient fills and the burn tool. The cape was attempted using one of the tutorials Dperciful posted to the hints'n'tips thread(here: http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/Forum7/HTML/002595.html)  Added additional texturing to the resultant material. The background is actually three seperate photo's of the Highlands up areound Ullapool - The sky and big hill is a layer, castle ardvreck & the water & hill on the right another layer, and the grass closest at the bottom on a third layer. I actually went as far as texturing Dragonfang (seen behind the title) before I remembered in this piece it would be in a scabard which is bound with rectangles with a deformed leather texture as is the sword handle. The font is Skeksis.

Edit: clarified Hints&Tips thread mentioned at C2F.

Just keeping my hand in with manipping really. Here we have Marcus Schenkenberg (whom I've used before - see my 'Blink' piece) as a younger Man of Steel. Had to do a fair bit of cleaning up on the original image as there was a lot of text to remove. The costume was made by first creating a composite texture made up from three separate elements - leather, faux suede, and chainmail (much reduced in size) - to try and give it some texture (similar to spidey's movie costume which I love the texture on the blue sections) Then I created a layer to apply the texture. Using the lasso tool to create appropriate areas, the texture is applied at various angles to match the body shape at that area. I then mask of the extra leaving the areas that would be the suit. Using the same mask I duplicate the original model layer, tweaking the muscles and smoothing/smudging where necessary. this layer is then duplicated again with the original layer's mode was set to multiply and the second layer's mode set overlay. The logo was created from scratch in vectors a while back for another project, simply here reduced and distorted to fit the chest then used to create selections to apply the soft embossed feel.

I tried to give the cape a believable flowing feel, not sure if I did, but I like how it turned out. It started with a solid block of color on a layer behind supes. Using the lasso tool I created gradually darker blocks of the red (using HSL adjustment) to give the feel of folds in the cape. The same method used to create supes shadow on the cape. Then used free hand soften tool to blend all the shades together. Over the whole lot applied a gradient fill to darken the cape further where it curves over the shoulder to light at the bottom. The actual shoulder pieces are on a layer to the front of supes, again beginning with a couple of solid blocks of color. Used gradients, the lasso and HSL to create the tighter folds and wrinkles (where it's stitched/joined to the costume). Over the whole lot I introduced some granularity. This had the effect of giving the cape some texture post smoothing.

blended in the flag in the background to further enhance the 'belief in something larger than yourself' feel.

Edit: Added more creation notes on costume and cape.

I don't know if these are technically photomanips, howver they are manipping photos onto existing images so it's close enough. These are the three manipped Greg Horn images that formed the backdrop to my FXM/Emma Frost Piece. I manipped Jaime Presley's face onto each of the images and then unified the cholor schemes into a pale faux sepia tone. Just thought you might like to see the details.

Ok, I wanted to do a follow up to my Elektra/Loss Adjuster pic for a while now, and when I found this pic of Cindy Crawford I immediately thought it would make a great base for She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters.

The source image was a bit messy so I had to do some tidying before I began. The first thing I did was to broaden the shoulders and deepen the chest using the free deform tool. This was then blended back into the original image. I then created a mask of 'shulkie' so I could keep things neat later. The background is created from scratch over the original murky black curtain. I used some mauve gradient fills to create a floor/wall join and to provide some lighting. I used the same effect to create the window behind 'shulkie' making a faux 3d effect to frame the image of new york street signs I found on google. The spidey is taken from a pic of a statue of him peeking in another window. I shaded him to make him darker and as if lit from the room. Over spidey and the street seen I created a glass pane using the noise filter then motion and gausian blur to give it some interest, and a white/black gradient to make it look shiny. The brief case was another google find which to which I added Walters stenciling and a shadow and floor reflection to blend it with the image.

All pretty simple stuff, but I just wanted to make sure I kept my basic skills up during a dry creative spell
