A bird in the hand... This one's for Miss Vee. Sorry it took so long to get around to it, Vee but because it did, I wanted to do something special. It's been so long, I can't even remember the last time I tried to draw a full color scene but it's certainly the first time I attempted to do it completely digitally (no pencil and paper). I know... I should probably stick to 3D! |

| By-Tor and the Snow Dog pijon Fantasy 2014/5/7 16:38 1992 5
Based on an old song by the band Rush: "Tobes of Hades, lit by flickering torchlight The netherworld is gathered in the glare Prince By-Tor takes the cavern to the north light The sign of Eth is rising in the air By-Tor, knight of darkness Centurion of evil, devil's prince Across the River Styx, out of the lamplight His nemesis is waiting at the gate The Snow Dog, ermine glowing in the damp night Coal-black eyes shimmering with hate By-Tor and the Snow Dog Square for battle, let the fray begin The battle's over and the dust is clearing Disciples of the Snow Dog sound the knell Rejoicing echoes as the dawn is nearing By-Tor, in defeat, retreats to Hell Snow Dog is victorious The land of the Overworld is saved again"
Daz Genesis and Millenium Dog are the models used in this dance. Journeyer Scout pants and shirt for By-Tor. His medallion is from M4 Evilson. Genesis Bracers also used. Torch, dagger, crown and cape I made in Hexagon. Background made in Bryce, characters rendered in DS4. Gate from Stonemason's Graveyard set. Garibaldi Hair Plug-In for D/S also used. |

| Captain Marvel vs. Thanos pijon Marvel Comics 2014/6/3 2:00 2232 4
I am looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. While I am happy that Thanos, one of Marvel's greatest villains will finally be making it to the big screen, he totally should have made his debut in a movie (or 3) facing Captain Marvel first!

| Caveman Wildcat (colorized) pijon DC Comics 2017/6/6 0:34 1718 5
So DW and B had brought up coloring this recent challenge entry. I had not intended to color it when I drew it and now I know why. Man, it took me forever just to get through the flats! I'm really not too keen on the coloring job I did here but I figured since I ended up putting in so much time on it, I may as well show it. |

| CHALLENGE: Iron Man Reboot pijon Monthly and other challenges 2013/7/11 21:50 1920 11
Tony Stark was a wealthy industrialist, a brilliant inventor playboy whose cutting edge technology was used to build weapons for the government and the rich profits from those contracts help fuel his lavish party lifestyle. Of late, Tony had begun to employ nanotechnology into these weapons. These microscopic robots or nanites were being used to build self-repairing weapons in Tony's lab. Tony had announced his breakthrough as the beginning of what would become an indestructable army. The hype generated by the news was remarkable yet not all were happy to hear it. Some viewed this as the rise of unstoppable dictatorships and certain groups plotted Stark's demise. So it was that a few days before his public demonstration of these new weapons that Tony stopped by his lab for a trial run of the weapons but it was not to be. Someone had managed to plant a bomb in the lab. As Tony picked one of the weapons from the table, there was a massive explosion. It was said no one could have survived a blast of such magnitude however Tony had... at least in a manner of speaking. Tony had received massively fatal injuries from the blast however the nanites were too small to be blown to bits. None the less, their programming was slightly scrambled from the concussive force. So it was that the nanites, unable to differentiate between Tony and weapon repaired him, turning him into a mix of man, metal and circuitry. Tony soon discovered that the nanites swarming on and through his body allowed him to reshape and animate any metal he touched as though it were an extension of his own body and control any circuitry in a similar manner. Tony kept his secret from the public, proclaiming this as a new high tech armor suit but the reality was there was no suit, just a man slowly turning into a machine. More troubling still, the nanites at times appeared to have their own agenda. So while Tony plays hero for the public, he worries deeply over what he is becoming and whether there will be anything left of himself by the time the nanite changes are completed.
*this is the first time I've used DS4 and Genesis so pardon me as I'm still trying to get up to speed. I'm also more than a bit rusty as this is the 1st 3D pic I've done this year... trying to be as prolific as Jr. |

| CHALLENGE:Memorial Day Shindig - Marvel Chili Cook-off pijon Monthly and other challenges 2013/5/22 14:52 2193 10
Often overlooked are many a hero's super cooking powers. Most folks don't even realize that Dr. Strange is also a master of the culinary arts. One of the highlights of Marvel's Memorial Day party is the Chili Cook-off... an epic(urean) battle of good and evil although when it comes to superheroic chili, HOT is always good. |

| Concrete: Earth Day Remembered pijon Other Comics 2010/5/8 19:51 2636 7
After this latest oil spill off the Gulf Coast, I decided Paul Chadwick's character would be the perfect messenger to remind us all that while Earth Day's a wonderful idea, one three hundred and fifty sixth is a rather small fraction. Let's all try to show a little more love for the planet the rest of the year. |

| Cover Flip Challenge: Challengers to Daters pijon Monthly and other challenges 2012/8/15 8:46 1894 4

| Cover Flip Challenge: Ghost Rider to Rawhide Kid pijon Monthly and other challenges 2012/8/12 20:31 2229 5
This one's for the cover flip challenge I chose Ghost Rider #68 to have a little fun with. I really didn't mess with Bob Budiansky's cover art too much, just added a few buttons on the shirt and a cowboy hat (from the Gil Kane collection) on the ground. I did change the logos, text boxes and the color of the boots and gloves. I also added some word balloons and musical notes. All quick and easy stuff.
I have nothing against gays or cowboys or gay cowboys. I am merely having fun taking a little jab at '03 Rawhide Kid editor Axel Alonso (now Marvel's Editor-in-Chief's) decision to mess with the Kid's (then) 46 yr history. |

| Crossovers Gone Wrong: Flaming Carrot meets Axel Pressbutton and Laser Eraser pijon Other Comics 2013/9/10 11:45 2409 6
Flaming Carrot knew he'd made a big mistake. He was out at the lanes with his bowling team, the Mystery Men when some gamesmanship started with the opposing team, the Pin Wizards. Just because Carrot's bowling team were actual masked crimefighters, how was he to know the Pin Wizards were actual wizards?! The wizards did not take Carrot's bowling taunts well and cast a spell that sent him across time and space. Carrot didn't know where he'd ended up. The buildings looked like something from the future. One thing was clear, the angry robot-man chasing him had a major grudge against carrots.... It wasn't just carrots really. Even on his best day, Axel Pressbutton was still a raging psychotic psychopath but plants of all manner and variety are what really send him into a killing frenzy. It wasn't always this way for Axel. Once a mild mannered florist, he took delivery of a plant which happened to have with it a sentient carnivorous fungus which had managed to eat 3 quarters of Axel before he was rescued. However his mind had snapped from the shock and he was particularly embittered toward plants. The doctors who had fixed him up had taken sympathy and designed a button as part of his robot body that would send powerful waves of orgasm type pleasure to his body and mind when pressed as consolation for his loss. It's a bad design though as it's sometimes been used by adversaries to disable him during attacks ...not that Flaming Carrot could ever figure it out in time. He's never been the brightest of superheroes.
Axel's sometimes partner, Mysta Mystrelis AKA Laser Eraser thinks "not again" as she rolls her eyes and sighs while she reaches for her laser rifle. She knows she's going to have to put a couple of holes in those boys to put a stop to this nonsense before somebody gets hurt.
Axel Pressbutton originally created by writer Steve Moore and artist Alan Moore. Flaming Carrot is an original creation of Bob Burden's.
*fix: covered up a small strip of sky down by Carrot's knee and added a little more text. |
