I need some honest feedback on this character design
for my webcomic. It's supposed to be the main character's rock star persona, but being the general geek I am, I don't know if it's quite right for what I want. I'm going for more of a punk rocker chick look, rife with studs and tats and everything else your mother warned you about in a girl, that sort of thing. Please, anyone, just let me know what you think and what, if anything, she needs. Thanks in advance. |

I've been seeing lots of crickets around lately. They are one of the few insects that don't give me the creeps and I thought, "Why are there no cricket superheroes?" Probably because the cricket can't do anything much on the cool side. Doesn't climb walls, shoot webs etc. But MAN can those little things JUMP! This guy, The Cricketeer, can jump like a mile when he really has to. He has slightly tougher skin than most humans. About as tough as plywood maybe. Seemed like the right toughness to be in proportion to a carapace. He can also tell what the weather is going to do before it happens...hm, there's his alter ego right there. TV weatherman! I don't know if thats a real ability of the insect but there are rumors about it. And he can produce a loud chirping noise that can stun bad guys. Or annoy coworkers. Whichever is needed. Although, if he did it around his coworkers it would defeat the whole secret identity thing so scratch that. Oh yeah, he can communicate with real crickets.
Not an epic hero but a fun one. |

This is my Seraph (I'm sure at least one or two of you has started recognizing her by now!) done in an old sk00l pin up pose. I based it off a (omg!) pin up photo I found through google.
Pure digital painting, took me all day in PS 7 to get her done, and I messed up. I didn't do a larger version because sometimes I prefer to just work with the size it needs to be. So for this I started small, because it was to be my new I.D. on deviantART. Halfway through I realized it was turning out fairly nice...but I'd already spent so many hours on it already I didn't want to start over.
Anyway, I'm rather proud of it, regardless of how small she is. And I do not own a tablet! Everything I do with photoshop is done with a mouse. So there. :P
I mention that because people seem to think I have a tablet. I wish I did!
She doesn't have the wings in this picture, though I did another version with a set of paintbrush wings that I threw on there for an avatar. But it's even smaller than this, so I'm not putting it on here.
Next time I'll make a really really huge digi-painting. |

| Many of you here have seen my character The Christian. http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/myalbum3/photo.php?lid=2512 I've never been pleased with the design of him(much less the art but thats another story). I fear he evokes too much of Snake-eyes from G.I.Joe with the visor/goggles look and the dark blue outfit. I wanted his design to bring to mind how powerful he must be and hopefully even a couple of people might think it a cool design on its own but I don't feel the original look does that so I took a shot at a redesign. I went for an armored look this time. I think it looks cooler but that could just be because its new. I'll have to wait and see how it looks to me in a week. |

Entry for the Sword & Sorcery Contest that's
being set up over at DeviantArt. Just couldn't resist, and I had the perfect thing for it. I wrote up fifteen years worth of stories for this particular character years ago, and always wanted to do more with him.
But anyways, the vitals- I apologize if this gets a little wordy. I tried compressing it as much as I could but....well, there was a LOT.
Name: Danial Tienad
Age: 22
Birthplace: Castle Tienad, The Barony of SteelHeart,
The Kingdom of Intrius, North Panmean
Continent.
Education: Eight years training at the Royal Court, ten years
of self-taught wizardry, emphasis on
merging-magic and warkasting.
Signature Talents: Able to merge with his surroundings, granting him truly fearsome power in battle. Also possesses the fabled Gaze of Heavens spell, allowing him to negate any offensive magic cast against him.
Life: The only son born to Baron Keniv Tienad and the Lady Brissa, Danial was raised during the peaceful reign of his cousin, Highking Trelane aps'Sukkara. Educated within the royal court alongside his two older sisters, Danial did not excel at any one subject, only becoming average in them all.
After his court education had ended, he took up swordsmanship with his father's retainer, Sir Mattheas ibn Igari, who found the boy an enthusiastic if inept pupil.
On the day of his tenth birthday, his hometown of SteelHeart was beseiged by Marauders from the Northern Iron Star Army, led by one General Moses Arken. Danial could only watch as his father fell trying to protect his family,
slain by the General himself. Before the women of the Tienad family could be killed, Danial took up his father's sword, and tried to play the role of guardian, only to be cast aside by the General, flung into a burning building.
When Danial awoke, he found SteelHeart in ashes, gutted and dead. The only other survivor was Sir Mattheas, although he had lost an arm in the fighting. His body weak, his face scarred from the fire, Danial scoured the remains of his home, hoping to find his family, convinced they had survived. The only thing he found was an old book of magic his grandfather had written years before. With the trauma of the attack, the murder of his family, and his own scarring clouding his mind, he found that he could easily read and master the spells within the book, especially the ones that allowed him to take on the properties of any substance he touched.
Spending years mastering magic, Danial has now becoming a mystic-thief, a wandering wizard who seeks only to become more powerful by robbing and stealing from the graves and temples of history's greatest sorcerors, absconding their power for his own, until he believes himself strong enough to face General Arken again, and to kill him. |
