Christina Ricci as Zattanna... I don't remember what inspired it but it was one I really wanted to do and I think it turned out decently |

| Crimson Avenger OCP 2009/6/25 5:22 3571 6
From the pages of the JSA (Yeah, I've been reading that lately. ), the latest version of Crimson Avenger: she is an African-American woman who might be called Jill Carlyle and serves as a minor Spirit of Vengeance, possessing the power of teleportation and intangibility.
This was the first time I "franked" from a lot of source images to create the vision I had on my mind. Still not happy, but not disapointed with the end result. |

| Superman BillTurner 2005/3/8 16:16 3585 7
This is an unfinished picture with Darth Vader as a young Superman. I did it a year agon and I lost interest in it because I couldn't figure out how to make it interesting. It is part of a big panorama. It was to have Lex Luthor in a Kryptonite suit. If anyone wants to help me finish it I'm game. |

| Harley Quinn B 2004/6/25 19:44 3603 2
Drew Barrymore as Harley Quinn, my favourite character.
This was my first manip ever. Please keep that in mind as you look at it! Personally, I look back at it now and wince... but I thought I'd post it for comparison purposes, since one of the other pieces I'm posting was a redo of this one. Sort of.
I basically just painted over everything, no proper techniques or anything. Just loads and loads of smudging. |

| Hero Insider Issue #1 Kallisti 2005/3/2 21:11 3609 6
So i found this magazine cover for something called "Star Week" and it had Lucy Lawless on it and some interview about some new series she's supposed to be in after Xena. The Warrior Woman title was already there. Basically I just made the headband, plopped in some new text, and tried to smooth some of the lines on her face out a bit. but not too much! WW is supposed to be tough as nails... Could possibly become a new series. Enjoy! Comments appreciated... |

| Powergirl - The Test ROCINATE 2011/4/3 14:19 3613 2
This piece went through a few different iterations before settling on this theme.
The concept is that Powergirl is captured and taken to an unknown world of carbon based life forms . They take on humanoid forms to better communicate with her. The older the lifeforms are, the more dense the material is that they are made of. Hence the once closest to us in this picture is the oldest (possibly made of a material similar to diamond). They regard her as a curosity until they realize that she is kryptonian and refuse to let her leave seeing that she is one of the last of an extinct race. Not agreeing with this plan PG battles to escape.
I chose her old JLE costume because I still feel that it is the most practical. Capes and cleave holes don't lend themselves to brawling.
Bart Sears (who sold me on PG back in the JLE days) often drew this costume as if it was some how metallic. That is what I tried to recreate here.
Enjoy! |

| Gallery of the Endless: Delirium B 2004/7/14 20:21 3613 8
I said I was gonna do more of these, didn't I? Here's Gallery of the Endless #2: Delirium. Unlike the folks at C2F, you guys get actual legible text, ain't that great?
Del's my second favourite member of the Endless, and my first choice for the sequel to Dream. The model's Chloe Sevigny. I recoloured her skin, and did all the hair, clothing and jewelry from scratch. So were the butterflies, though those were partly based on photo reference, except for one. I'm inordinately fond of the safety pin she's wearing on her necklace, for some reason. The background is just random splotches of colour. I had something else in mind, but the text ended up obscuring it too much. I actually created it by making a copy of the pic, blurring the hell out of it (gaussian), adding a lot of noise, blurring some more (radial) and then using a fairly random curve. Try it, you can get some fascinating Jackson Pollock stuff that way.
The text is from the same source as last time, the prologue to Season of Mists in The Sandman #21. |

| Superman & Supergirl-- Liberty Island Jedifan227 2004/12/13 2:21 3621 4
This piece took me most of the night. I started from scratch will just a simple manip of Supergirl. Then I had an idea. I had to find the right base for Superman, in the same angles and pose. Well, I cheated a few things, but I really cant tell what they were now. I found the background very patriotic, and fitting for such a picture as this. I really sunk hard into this one. And as always, comments are appreciated. ENJOY!!! |

| Supergirl - Lost Daughter of Krypton LocalHero 2007/8/19 12:46 3627 2
Just a quick manip of Kristiana Loken as Kara Zo-Rel. Multiple background layers - new york (yes I left in the towers!), couple of exploding planets overlayed and some kryptonian script. Supergirl herself is recolor of Kristiana's original clothes with some alterations to make the belt/skirt and the cape added from scratch. The shirt logo was deformed from one i created using psp vectors. removed some (few) blemishes and enhanced the eye color. Little ship in the background is kara escaping the explosion.
Wanted to do a more realistic version of the current costume, but I prefer the highly saturated feel, these are comic characters after all.
This is an homage to the helen slater supergirl promo poster of her flying over new york |

Harley Quinn's desk
This was a direct follow-up to my second version of Harley. I put the Harley + Ivy photo, and the gun in the background of that piece, but they proved more or less invisible. I thus decided to submit a close up, and added the Joker manip just for fun.
Harley and Ivy were two women posing on a cruise; I slapped Drew Barrymore and Laeticia Casta's heads on them, and did the costuming the usual way. Ivy's wearing poison ivy leaves, of course. You can also see what's left of the ship's original owner behind the girls...
The Joker was a heavily altered Willem Dafoe with a grin taken from another photo. The suit I cobbled together from various photos. The background's Bryce.
The gun was made from various Bryce primitives. It looks more like a toy than a real gun, but that works for Harley.
There was no real post -production on this piece, it was just a straight Bryce render. Looking back, I probably should have done more touch-ups. I was going for more of a photorealistic look here, but I don't think I really succeeded. I'm still putting it in the photomanip section, since the main elements here are manips. |

| LoSH: Ultra Boy Kev_Incal 2005/2/28 8:48 3650 4
Here's Sean Faris as Ultra Boy. In Waid and Kitson's new Legion of Super-Heroes book, he's a bit of a punk - then again that's kinda of a UB quality so I guess that's understandable I like that they kept the costume relatively the same.
