| THANOS INKS by KER1 KER1 Marvel Comics 2007/4/16 8:31 2205 2
I have a friend by the name of DREW CHESKIN who happens to be friends with a Mr. Ron Lim, and as I was flippin' through his collection of art, i happened upon a very loose sketch of Thanos by Mr. Lim so I figured I'd ink it up nice and tight for Drew and this was the final product. Every once in a while it's fun to take someone's pencils and flex my inking skillz . . . . Drew has a gallery over at CAF if you'd like to see what I did with some inks and colors i did over more Ron Lim as well! |

| Hellboy '05: markers KER1 Other Comics 2007/4/24 6:46 2499 6
Well I originally did this piece back in '05 in my black book in markers, and had the inks scanned before I went to color it. So the other piece you've seen up here was the DIGITAL version of this piece which I was able to get the nice stone texture in the Hand o' doom . . . . but as I've said before, I love just gettin' in there and usin' the markers, so I finally got around to scanning and posting it! . . . . And of course the explanation behind the Mignola signature is: I went to this thing that year called "A night with Mike Mignola" at Parsons School of design in NYC, he was a nice guy and really easy to talk to and he thought my version of his character was "cool" as well!!! . . . . | RHINO KER1 Marvel Comics 2007/5/23 20:33 2378 6
I've been tryin' to get this Rhino out OF MY HEAD for daze and I finally did! I always liked the Rhino as a villain, just brute force . . . I would have liked to have seen an opening sequence in one of the Spidey movies where you see a nice peaceful bank and then all of a sudden BOOM! Out comes the Rhino with bags of loot, of course Spidey shows up, we get to see a great fight scene with cars gettin' smashed, Spidey cracks a few jokes and then catches the Rhino and Bam, end scene, so all us comic geeks coulda got an extra character in there without the studios tryin' to write some elaborate story line to try and fit him in to the flick . . . I'm thinkin' "The Big Show" woulda been good for the part . . . . oh well. . . . Check out more of my stuff at www.wiseapple.biz
SPIDEY TIME |
|
| VENOM KER1 Marvel Comics 2007/5/31 20:12 2316 5
Okay so of course one of my favorite characters is Spidey, and since I already did a couple Spideys and it is I figured it was time to do one of his greatest adversaries! I just made it under the wire with this one . . . just in time for SPIDEY TIME!!!
It was a fun theme to do in Photoshop.

| DEATHSTROKE KER1 DC Comics 2007/6/1 21:35 2145 7
Many years ago I did a Deathstroke illustration and was pretty happy with it, but upon looking at it in later years I thought I could do better, so I finally got around to it! I'm pretty happy with it!

| BLUE ROLLER by Vagabond X/Inks by KER1 KER1 Original Characters 2007/6/6 7:31 2012 4
Well I'm hoping I didn't offend ya Vagabond By inking your stuff, I always look at your work and enjoy it, I like the style and concepts so much, that I often think to myself "Man I'd like to ink this guy's work"! So since I was diggin' the Blue Roller? .. lol I figured I'd have some fun inkin' him up, I was extremely tempted to color it up too!!! Peace! |

| THE DARK KNIGHT PEES KER1 DC Comics 2007/6/6 14:07 2608 6
This of course is the "DC" version of the other opiece I did! heehee! |
|
| SILVER SURFER: Lone Wanderer KER1 Marvel Comics 2007/6/14 10:35 2427 8
I wanted to do something a bit different with the Surfer that kinda showed how alone he is, although he's able to soar to any place in the galaxy and has these great powers, he still seems very alone and still lives with the burden of having been the herald of Galactus and the memory of those worlds dying by his hand . . . . with his look I wanted to try something a little different than what's been done in the comics with the usual Light blue and black line and instead opted for his body reflections to kinda reflect the stars and space also I wanted to give him a more "alien" appearance by elongating his neck a bit. I just wanted him to look like he was floating effortlessly in space just thinkin' about s#!t.
This one's for the FF2 contest!
Medium: Photoshop CS2 |
|
| THE THING KER1 Marvel Comics 2007/6/15 10:12 2088 7
Whenever I do an illustration of the Thing it's always a great experience, since he has so much texture and personality . . . I've done versions of him in Photoshop and with markers, and recently I'd gotten into colored pencils . . . so this time I decided to merge two of my worlds and did this version of him in my graffiti style with colored pencils and 1 marker to outline him . . . the colored pencils and Canson paper were perfect for his rocky hide . . . I had a blast!
This one is for the FF2 contest! |
|
| HELLBOY: Hot stuff! KER1 Other Comics 2007/6/23 6:36 2375 4
I did this a couple years back in my "blackbook", I'd started a new one up because I felt "they" weren't givin' me enough arttistic freedom at my job, so the blackbook would keep me loose and allow me to do whatever I wanted . . . . of course this is my WAY graff styled Hellboy! What I like the most about Graff is that there are NO rules, it is such an abstract art form that you can do no wrong! |
|
| DEADSHOT KER1 DC Comics 2007/6/27 11:17 2403 4
Here's my version of Deadshot, I had fun on this joint!

| WHAT THE F#%K! by KER1 KER1 Other Comics 2007/7/13 10:58 2614 6
Teotihuac?n is an Aztec site of great importance not far from Mexico City. The Aztecs believed the gods created the universe here, and began construction on the magnificent temple complex around 100 BC. . . . Today many tourists frequent this amazing site but recently there have been many reports of tourists mysteriously vanishing, local authorities have had no luck in figuring out the strange goings on, so the matter had been turned over to The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.
Of course The Bureau just assumed that tourists were wandering off and getting lost in some of the Labrynthine tunnels at Teotihuac?n, but just to be safe they sent Hellboy to check things out . . . . .

Artist's note: I figured since Hellboy is always off somewhere investigating some craziness in any part of the world, the Aliens in the Aztec pyramids would tie in nicely. . . . I also figured "who would be better to deal with the acid blood when he blasts them in the face with his piece than Hellboy?"
*I did an earlier version of this, but I wasn't completely happy with it, so I went and got some reference on the actual Aztec temple and reworked it!

| KROENEN 2.0 . . . . by KER1 KER1 Other Comics 2007/9/11 7:53 1940 4
I did an earlier version of Kroenen in colored pencils that was much more realistic, this one I wanted to capture his look as seen in the comics more and wanted to use as little detail as possible in my graff/toon style . . . This has got to be one of my all time favorite villains!
Medium: Black sharpie, 3 colored pencils |

| SPIDERTAZ . . . . . by KER1 KER1 Marvel Comics 2007/9/13 11:25 2587 9
Well I'm sure many of you , (much like the Elmer Punisher piece)have thought to yourself "hmmm, what if Taz had gotten bit by that radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker?" Heehee . . . I actually did a series of these at my old job in Florida. We were working on Looney Tunes designs so much and I was bored so I did a couple of the tunes as Heroes . . . . As I've said before I'm not a big fan of using photos mixed with digital or whatever but I was feelin' lazy today so I just took a pic off the internet and played with filters set on water colors and slapped it back there.
Did the lineart for this back in '94 or '95 and ran across it recently and decided to color it up today!

| KIRBY STYLE CHRISTIAN KER1 Original Characters 2007/11/15 11:15 2324 11
With apologies to Mr. Kirby and Mr. Kent . . . I always enjoy the stuff Kent does and sometimes I wanna join in on the fun, so I did a Kirby style Christian as well, pretty much copied Mr. Kirby's style, but I've always loved Kirby's dynamic work . . . just foolin' around with an idea. |

| MARTIAN MANHUNTER . . . by KER1 KER1 DC Comics 2008/1/15 17:35 2272 4

|
| WOLVERINE: Time for a stogie . . . . . by KER1 KER1 Marvel Comics 2008/2/5 14:37 2128 1
Well I did a Wolverine head sketch for a client earlier, when he saw it he liked it so much that he decided he wanted a full body, so here's the marker commission I did of the ol' Canucklehead! Hope ya like! . . . The markers look a THOUSAND times better in person, scans never do them justice. . . . This was done on Bristol by the way . . . I wanted to do the character the way he SHOULD look, short and stocky (he's only 5' 3") I also streamlined his "fins" on his head and boots (better for fighting I think) I also just wanted to do a pose of him just doin' every day things like lighting a stogie, instead of the usual "comin' at ya with claws extended" that everyone does . . .

|
| PHANTOM RIDER: The remix . . . by KER1 KER1 Marvel Comics 2008/2/16 7:09 2433 5
I originally did this commission on a paper bag with 1 colored pencil and a Sharpie? . . . people kept tellin' me "you should make it look like a wanted poster" so I took it into photoshop and added the text . . . . I like how the extra stuff came out. |
|
| BABY MAUL . . . . by KER1 KER1 Sci-fi 2008/3/12 19:34 3152 7

| BABY FETT . . . by KER1 KER1 Sci-fi 2008/3/22 9:12 3521 8
Lil Boba's pappy always told him not to mess with nature, and that some day nature would pay him back for bein' mean to the baby Sarlacc . . . well we all know how that turned out . . . heehee!
This was another fun project in my "BABY" line!
