| Extreme Makeover: Psylocke Cosplay Edition QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2008/3/25 22:31 5380 11
OK, so I finally found the contest area and found the Mission Impossible contest. No this is not an entry - it's been done for quite awhile. I've just been enamored with all the extreme makeover movies on YouTube and thought this might be fun.
And just so you know I didn't frankenstein a single part of this image. It's all Layers, Liquify and creative color adjustment via curves and the Dodge/Burn tool. |

| Rogue the Australian Outback costume QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2006/10/29 14:58 4656 10
Just playing around with custom textures and ray traced reflections. Most of this is the original render. Photoshop touchups have been done to all the edges of the costume between the green and black portions as well as the face. All the seams were photoshopped as well as the hair. I wanted the costume to looks rubbery as I was using raytraced reflections. |

| Winged Victory - Or why I will never validate your current inability to photoshop stuff. QuantumFX Other Comics 2006/3/21 19:46 4160 7
OK, just another reminder at how much I used to suck at doing this. A scant 5 years ago I created this piece. I like posting these things for you new guys to encourage you to push yourselves further. Honestly, I don't think I know much more about Photoshop now as I did then. The difference is that I stopped thinking of photoshop as a tool for putting together images and treated it like a canvas and applying all the drawing and painting experience I had to it. |

| Ultimates Theme Day - Ultimate Quasar QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2006/3/11 20:42 3583 11
OK, I managed to pull myself away from DDO to post the stuff I haven't posted here at my home website. Here's a piece I did for C2F's Ultimates theme day. My rendition of Ultimate Quasar is inspired by Bryan Hitch's unofficial rules on designing characters. 1. Make them look vaguely like a hollywood actor. 2. Costume will be inspired by motorcycle gear. 3. Light eminates from costume. 4. Profit! The model is the James model from Poser 6. The costume is illustrated and modeled after a motorcross suit. The energy effects are from playing around with layer styles, layer masks and 20% opacity yellow lines and dots. |

| October: Shade's Girls of Halloween in Techni... er... um TechniSinCity Color QuantumFX Monthly and other challenges 2006/3/11 0:53 10837 21
Shade's Original Girls of Halloween Happy Halloween Everyone! Since I can't rip off Shade's work enough, I stole this piece of pumpkin themed cheesecake from him. Can you tell which comic book based movie I've been watching lately? Starting from the back we have Death from the Marvel Universe, Vampirella, Lady Death, Death from the Endless, Zatanna, and the Bunny from Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. |

I was thinking what a movie version of the Big Red Cheese would look like. The lightning bolt has the glow effect that the ultimate version of Thor has. |

Since it was so much fun to colorize Shade's Birds of Prey pic I thought I'd follow it with another! Thanks to my group of critiqers! Your Inboxes won't be as full until I get near the completing of my nexy pic! Special thanks to B for link to the last minute particle effect tutorial! |

| In honor of the new Supergirl thread... QuantumFX DC Comics 2005/9/9 20:58 5553 9
"yer lookin' at her...right here...me!" - FireyPhoenix2005
This was initally meant to be a pick me up for a post that Firey left at MySpace. The project took too long so I let it lie until I read the above quote on the "Supergirl - The Movie (Remake)" thread. The background is a photo from Yahoo. The face is from Firey's website. The body is the "Jesse" model from Poser 6. And the costume is regular photoshopping techniques. The motion trail is from Eye Candy 4000. Not high art but a good warmup for some hair I have to redo on my next post. |

| Shade's Birds of Prey in Technicolor QuantumFX DC Comics 2005/7/23 3:56 5204 22
Hey everyone, let's see if I can make Shade's eyes explode!! This started out as a simple coloring job of Shade's Birds of Prey Drawing and then 3 weeks and 100 layers later became this. A special thanks goes out to all my critics, Bill Turner, Justin B Long, Winterhawk, B, MillenniumBum, Brick, Jr, Biohazard Daddy, and Mystic Morgan. They had to put up with my stuffing their mailboxes with 400KB attachments. |

| Green Lantern - The Secret Origin of the Guardians QuantumFX DC Comics 2004/12/22 5:23 4214 9
"Jordan, you're going to have to be your own kind of hero."
This was the most frustrating project ever. The results were worth it though. Pulling more of the Farscape cast into their equivalant roles for Green Lantern we have: Ben Browder as Hal Jordan (again), Kent McCord (Jack Crighton) as Alan Scott, and Jonathon Hardy (Rygel) as the Guardians.
All the figures were rendered in Poser 5 and the rest of the project was done in Photoshop CS. |

| Green Lantern - The Wizard of the Light Wave Weapon QuantumFX DC Comics 2004/11/11 11:53 3706 10
Here's part 3 of my Farscape/GL manips. Here we have Ben Browder again as GL Hal Jordan and Lani Tupu as Dr. Light. I'm pretty happy with this one as a whole image. I think Dr. Light's suit is the best Spandex I've ever done. |
|
| Green Lantern - The Double Life of Star Sapphire QuantumFX DC Comics 2004/10/31 18:17 4503 7
"Slicker than snot" "I certainly hope your power ring translated that wrong."
Here we have another of the GL/Farscape manips I have planned. Ben Browder continues as Hal Jordan with the Claudia Black filling the role of Star Sapphire. The image was inspired by GL vol1 Iss 41. I changed the background to the more dramatic earthscape and changed the perspective to have it fit a 4x3 aspect ratio. (I wanted Optical Intruder to have a properly sized Desktop Background.) In hindsight, I would have done 2 things differently. First, I obscured Hal's face too much. This was intentional as I wanted the main focus to be Star Sapphire. But, for all we know Hal could be asleep. Second, I'd like a better Flame filter. Finding good flame pics was getting difficult so I resorted to the Kai's stuff. But, I do like the composition tells the story. |

| My name is Hal Jordan... QuantumFX DC Comics 2004/10/25 21:12 4525 16
"My name is Hal Jordan... a test pilot... I was abducted, and given an alien power-ring... now I'm charged to protect this part of the universe, as part of a corp... an emensely large corp... full of strange, alien life-forms... my friends. I've made enemies...powerful, dangerous. Now all I want is to protect Earth. Look upward -- and share -- the wonders I've seen."
Alrighty, now that I've got that out of my system. This is the start of a series that MilleniumBum inspired. I'll let you figure out the theme. |

| Femme Fatales QuantumFX Other Comics 2004/10/18 10:45 8021 20
Well I finally got off my butt and finished this one. From Left to right we have a bunch of Playboy bunnies as Fatality, The Enchantress, Poison Ivy, Spiral, Star Sapphire and for you Canadians, the Dream Queen. |

| The other avengers for the 21st Century... QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2004/9/29 15:59 6605 11
This piece was inspired by a Wizard Magazine casting call. (With a few additions.) Working from the foreground we have Lucy Liu as the Wasp, Tom Jane as Captian America, Viggo Mortensen as Thor, George Clooney as Iron Man, Asia Argento as the Black Widow, Vin Diesel as Hawkeye, and Matthew McConaughey as Giant Man. "How'd you do that's" will be answered as they come because each character is it's own thread. |

| A-Next #4 - Finished! QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2004/9/12 13:34 5069 6

|
| Thunderstrike QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2004/8/28 16:35 2861 3
Last one! All I have left is the cover. The son of the original Thunderstrike. He inherited the mystical abilities of Thunderstrike's mace after it's destruction. |
|
| The Crimson Curse QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2004/8/28 16:07 3316 12
Another Character that A-Next didn't have enough time to flesh out. Only 2 left! Thunderstrike and the final cover! |
|
| Freebooter QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2004/8/25 12:32 3390 5
Only 3 members of A-Next left! A-next never really got into his origins other than being trained by Hawkeye. His main weapons are the quaterstaff and the crossbow. |
|
| Earth Sentry QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2004/8/24 14:36 3611 1
If it wasn't on the original cover I wouldn't have bothered. |
|
| Darkdevil QuantumFX Marvel Comics 2004/8/24 12:24 3136 1
Well, here's where I stray from the original A-Next Cover. Darkdevil's head is cut off in the original cover and quite frankly, his costume is too cool not to do. I'll crop it down in the final cover. For those of you non-Spidergirl readers Darkdevil here has the most convoluted-origin-ever! (Imagine I said that like the Simpons comic book guy.) It's the Spider-man clone's son with the remnants of Ghost Rider's abilities and Daredevil's spirit. |

Ah! - I'm almost halfway there! J2 is next. For those who don't know this character she's the daughter of Scott Lang the second Antman. |
