--For ghosts, goths, ghoulfriends...

Okay...I've only posted a few files here so far, but anyone familiar with them has  probably already noticed I tend to go for realism rather than a fantasy style.  But for this image, did I want to make the character into a "real" ghoul, or make it look like a model who was simply made up to look like one?

The original image is of a fitness model natch, but I didn't like the squatting, legs apart position.  I wanted the legs together, making the entire form more biomorphic, and therefore more feminine.  So I "rebuilt" everthing from the waist down using as much as possible from the original ( I can post the original in the cookie jar if anyone cares) and whatever else I could put together, mostly on the left leg.  Same with the feet (what a pain...)  Then bosoms...wasn't sure whether to add the sleeve/shroud negligee thang or not.  Even the face had to be composed from different pictures  (I didn't realize that Lily had two different makeup styles).

After all that, I didn't want to just blanche the body. I used blending options to keep the low-lights showing through as red, suggesting that it is indeed intended to be just a model wearing theatrical makeup and photographed "in camera". To further emphasize the point, I even put screw eyes into the floor, fastening down the spider web. Ha!

I still go back and forth as to whether that rear leg convincingly exists in space, but I'm so sick of looking at this thing that maybe it's time to cal it a day.

I did this last year for a goth friend of mine, who loves to party in her jacuzzi. Not much here, except that the reflections in the pool were a little tricky as well as the spiderweb brassiere. The head shot was grainy and blurry and had to be cleaned up a lot, and she had to grow new hair.

This was a quickie I did last Halloween for my aforementioned goth friend.  Hardly more than a cut-and-paste, although I removed her name to uh, protect the not-so-innocent shall we say, before posting it here at HM.

Could make a nice Halloween greeting.

About a year or so ago I thought I should get out a couple boards and the old #3 sable and get to work on an original character.  What surfaced from the bog of my mind was something that seems to resemble a combination of Donna Reed, Soupy Sales, and Anna Nicole Smith. How did this happen? Well, maybe 'cause she's based on an old gf.

I'll have to investigate the possibilities of a Spandexed and caped alter ego.

I decided to double up on some of these older files since they're rather small, and I still seem to have many of them. So for those that have asked for more I hope this will double your pleasure, double your fun. :)

But if not, we can still take a look at the two I selected.  Notice how both use the same headshot for entirely different results. (At least, if I remember correctly they are in fact the same.)   Next post I'll do just the opposite, I'll use the same model but with different headshots.

That bat top took most of the work as I recall.

She could be quite entertaining with simple hand puppets.

You wouldn't believe the junk I had to make this image out of.  Perhaps my most franked image to date. But, thanks to MissVee's fine art direction, I believe I've convincingly pulled it off (look up BG by MissVee in the Comic Art Gallery).  I practically traced right over it.

It went pretty fast at first, but then after tying eveyrthing together and then texturing, it went v-e-r-y s-lo-w-l-y. Many parts had to be enlarged and painted over to restore resolution.  I then used broad areas of color of different values to create a minimal sense of an interior.

I could probably work on this thing forever, but I'm not.

Part of a continuation that has yet to be finished, however the costuming technique seems to be getting easier to render and may be the most natural looking  I've done to date.

This one got me kicked off a previous site for the "What a great rack" line. Can you believe it?

I wanted an excuse to do some more comic drawing. I got inspired by Vee's recent posts and decided to rework WW and Kat by MissVee (see post in comic art). However the more I worked on it, the more it got out of hand, and it ended up thusly.

My apologies in advance.

BTW this segment may be a bit short, so would anyone like to see CW also get down and dirty?

More bad burlesque, this was actually much more difficult than it looks.  Besides being just a head swap, it's also a bikini swap, boob swap, hair swap, other added parts and lots of retouching.  The only thing left of the original model is the arms. I should post all my references just to show how far removed the final image is from its source.  Very much like customizing a stock car but with a different type of body.

Building the staircase was the worst.  But if that wasn't enough, I had to establish convincing consistent light throughout (hope it worked) and added the same crappy noise and distortions on all objects to give the impression that this is is an authentic screen cap.

I think I got all seams covered.

Brief Update: Jr's request is honored.  So, can Firestar be next?

Brief Update 2:  Okay, then.  I was actually not going to continue with this series, but since you insist, VL...
(And yes, as it happens I would care for kiss!)

Hope it's satisfactory.

More firsts-- only at HM.

Perhaps you've heard of artists who create women that make you go "Ah!" But this is a totally new concept--women that make you go "Huh?"

The first in a series, presented here for the first time and exclusively at HeroMorph, where the Chief dares to be different!

(Okay, so I hadn't posted in the CA Gallery in a while.)

My recollection of this character is so vague that I couldn't remember if she came from the comic books or the comic strips.  I couldn't remember if she was Lady Phantom, Girl Phantom, Phantom Girl, or something else.  References to her wouldn't even show up on the Internet.  I began to wonder if she ever existed at all, so I thought I would try and flesh her out anyway.  If she was that obscure, she would make a good candidate for my Things That Make You Go 'Huh?' series.

Sometime later, I noticed that Moonstone held the license to the Phantom title and I asked if they knew anything about Girl Phantom.  They gave me the rundown even though she hasn't been in the comics in years.  Apparently she is the sister of the Phantom, and even subbed for him for awhile in the strips.

Anyone who's never heard of Girl Phantom can now see her as she makes her very first appearance here in the HM Comic Art Gallery.

Also, I couldn't remember if she carried two side arms like the Phantom or just one, or even none at all.  To be sure, for this pose she carries only one side arm, and two 45's.

One thing I must say about MissVee's art is that she creates some of the most provocative & sexy poses for women. I would even say that they are under appreciated or at least underrated, but I always admire them. For instance, with "BG Seduced by Scarecrow" (http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/myalbum3/photo.php?lid=3974) I saw the immediate value in the work for making some new comic art. I simply took Vee's pose of Batgirl here, and plundered it for my own misuse. However, the homage is paid by digging out the masthead that was implemented previously by yours truly of A Wonder Woman-Black Cat cover (see "Heromorph [Back] Issues", http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/myalbum3/photo.php?lid=2909 ), also based on original art by MV.

The style is a throwback to the old Bronze Age comics.

Another HM cover for the Vee Stories title, this is a variation on a theme from a previous manip, "Batgirl v. Joker",  http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=7992. The art is stylized once again in the manner of the Bronze Age comic style (hence the 25c and no UPC).  This time it's Harley Quinn rather than Joker administering the mayhem on Batgirl, using one of MissVee's very favorite recipes.

Not sure why I left off Harley's tights.

Somehow these back issues keep turning up, vintage 1971-72 or so. I didn't know HM was even in business then, let alone had an imprint. Anyway, this is a combination of themes from Detective Comics #341, where Joker is disguised as Batman, & Harley Quinn #10, where Harley impersonates Batgirl.

Of all the Vee covers done thus far, to me this is the most convincing of that late Silver/early Bronze Age comic style.

So what other titles will turn up from the vaults--"House of VampireLover?" "Dungeons & DragonDack?" WonderWas?" "Jr Chronicles of McDeath?"

???

I decided to give this a try. Subsequent interior page sample from "Harley Quinn's Ultimate [Secret] Identity Theft," from the Knockout Vee Stories cover,  http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/myalbum3/photo.php?lid=4362

Updated with more detail (nerd ladies, student, bookshelf, and Harley in upper right corner) and less cartooniness to match page 2 panel (above).  Much better than before. Also added disclaimers and legalese at bottom.

(Perhaps a nude version will be issued later.)

Taken directly from MissVee's terrific original interpretation of a scene from the 60's Batman series, with special guest crook Louie the Lilac. I had begun a version of this before, but changed course and wanted something a bit more urgent than posed, as if Bats was in some real danger of having the heat turned up by henchwoman Lily.  (  Vee's original: http://heromorph.com/heromorph2/modules/myalbum2/photo.php?lid=7121 )

Besides, there's something a bit cathartic in the implication that Milton Berle just got wasted.

As those who have been following these posts know, I have been uncovering vintage issues of the HeroMorph Comics imprint from the 1970's.  As a change of pace, I found this cover from about 2000-2001 (notice the %1000 jump in cover price and a more up-to-date HM logo). As you can see, the Knockout Vee Stories title continued over the years, reaching to number 161 in this case, and still disavowed by the comics code. Simultaneously published in WTF? Comics which eventually sank them. Truly a rare item. If you don't believe me try finding a copy on Ebay.

(Actually I just wanted to go on to a different comic style.)
