One of the many Batman-esque heroes of Golden Age comics, Wesley Dodd was detective, crime fighter, prophet, and superhero.
Notes: went with a film noir look on this one in a homage to some of the Sandman Mystery Theater covers ( great comic by the way). Also I love the old film noir movies, my fav being The Big Sleep, DOA a close second. I could almost picture Bogie taking on the role of the Dodd character.
All parts of the uniform except the hat are hand drawn.

This is the best I can do on this right now. I am tired of working on this.
I know, not enough shading and highlights, I still have trouble with those. Most of the time it just doesn't look right. (Still learning)

| I'm not sure exactly what the problem is with this one but something really bothers me about it. Sort of seems like the top of the figure doesn't match up with the legs somehow and the head seems wrong. Not to mention the arms and hands and blah, blah, blah... The one on the left is the original layout and the one on the right was flipped over. The flipped one looks better to me which seems sad. Which looks better folks? The flat colors or the shaded? Second question: I feel like its proper to post most things I do. The work I'm 'happy' with and the stuff I'm not so that I can get authentic critiques on my work. Does everyone feel that way or should I just post the stuff I'm happy with? |

| This is a painting over an old pencil drawing of mine. I tried to use the pencil rendering as a base, penciling over in multiply mode, but I'm not sure it has worked so well. The outer edges blending is pretty bad because of the low-res original and the multiply - should have just painted it from scratch... |

| Just finished reading a pretty good Wonder Woman novel and along with that and Cathryn being such a big fan of her too I wanted to do a shot of her. I still don't like the 'uniform' she wears so I designed one myself. I can't figure out if I like this picture or not. I like aspects of it and dislike others. Its hard to see past the flaws that I know are there. |
