| Beavers 2013 calander cover MF 2013/1/8 16:01 1689 0
The cover of the 2013 Beavers Girls Calander (Yes, it's supposed to be a parody of Hooters' annual breast-fest) and the start of one of my most ambitious projects yet! Throughout the year, you'll see Buddy and her friends (along with a couple of new, ahem, faces) celebrating the months of the year while wearing next to nothing along with some bonus pin-ups and comics. I'll even do my best to have them done by the beggining of the month! |

The last page of my Beavers 2013 Calander sees the girls bid a fond end (several ends to be exact) to the year that gave us twerking, selfies and Candy Cush. Here's to hoping 2014 will be a bit more memorable. |

| Beach Bunny darth_paul 2016/4/10 13:19 1492 3
A while back I premiered my team of Canadian super-heroes, and one of their members is a gal by the code name of "Snow Bunny." Well, I've finally gotten around to making the bios for the rest of her family. Each of them belongs to a different group, and each one of the four sisters has a code name that is a playful tongue-in-cheek on various terms with the word "bunny."
"Beach Bunny" is a member of a super-hero team known as the "Justice Force" based on the planet Earth-II. In the Coolstar Comics Universe, Earth-II is not an alternate Earth like how Marvel or DC would designate such a world, but a completely different planet out in the Milky Way Galaxy that was colonized by the people of Earth and thus named as the second Earth. |

Another character whose name I have no idea where I came up with the idea for his name, but it might have something to do with a variation on the term "war pig." Whatever, the case may be, here is Battle Boar, militaristic gang member of the Creatures. |
|
| Bat Mitzvah darth_paul 2012/12/6 8:38 1675 4
As explained in the comments for her brother, this gal is his twin sister, who like her brother can join rings with him and say aloud the word SHALOM, which transforms the two of them from average teenagers into powerful adult super-heroes. As they are inspired by the Marvel Family mostly, (with a little bit of the Wonder Twins thrown in since I needed a fail safe for the all too common "code word" of Shalom), each letter of their code word stands for a different Jewish/Old Testament hero or figure of importance. |

Bastion and Enigma, who are brother and sister. Enigma is a mentalist with a variety of psionic powers and knowledge of martial arts whereas Bastion is kind of a Superman figure, he can fly. These superheroes are created from Riddler23's mind. More to come from him and I. |

| Bark Mitzvah darth_paul 2012/12/6 8:48 1819 4
And, the third member of my Jewish super-hero trio is, Bark Mitzvah, a.k.a. "Muzzle Tov," the pet dog of the boy and girl who join rings, shout SHALOM, and become powerful adult super-heroes. Muzzle Tov/Bark Mitzvah was inspired of course by Krypto the Super-dog, and his name actually comes from a real ceremony that some Jewish people put on for their dogs when the animals reach a canine equivalent for adulthood. Even though he becomes super-intelligent, and gains a portion of his masters' powers in canine form, he cannot make the change himself and must wait for them to transform, by which he will change also. In this way he was also a bit inspired by various cartoons from my youth where some heroes had animal companions that they could bestow with power as well after they finished transforming themselves. |

| BANZAI GIRLS: PINK PERSUASION! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado 2010/5/14 22:12 4567 10
Banzai Girl and Kat are captured by the villainess known as Pink!
And just for kicks, I've included my daughter Jasmine in the mix! (Consider her to be Banzai Girl 2.0!) :)
This is my idea for a cover for my BANZAI GIRL SPECIAL, which will probably come out late next year. Line art by me (it's all pencil only, no inks). Color is by my good friend Katrina Mae Hao.

| BANZAI GIRLS: JASMINE & SAILOR MOON! (Color version) JinkyCoronado 2010/8/24 8:09 4357 5
Art by me. Color by my usual colorist Katrina Mae Hao.
The story behind it: My daughter Jasmine -- whom a lot of people that know us refer to as "Banzai Girl 2.0" -- is really into SAILOR MOON these days. So much so, that I bought for her a really nice custom Sailor Moon costume, along with real boots and handmade jewelry to match. Yup, she's been running around the house pretending to be the character. A lot.
So I decided, "Why not do a piece with Sailor Moon, and Jasmine, and me?"
The room I'm depicting really IS Jazzy's bedroom. I added Jasmine in costume having a grand time; Sailor Moon hanging out with her; and me -- looking a touch bedraggled as only a Mom can look -- kinda of miffed that Jasmine prefers dressing up more as Sailor Moon than as Banzai Girl! To add more authenticity, I added other stuffed animals (including Hello Kitty) and our own Wilfred character equally miffed by the appearance of his cat counterpart from the Sailor Moon series.
What do you think?

| BANZAI GIRLS: JASMINE & SAILOR MOON! JinkyCoronado 2010/8/17 16:44 3328 5
I continue to be surprised at all the amazing work on Heromorph that only goes half the distance when it comes to conceptualizing the scenes. How many images continue to be the character just standing around, doing nothing, usually in some generic background....when it takes roughly the same amount of effort to create a compelling scene of some sort where the character is DOING something, engaging the viewer and character/action/emotion/abilities or just plain fun? I think this is my official Heromorph crusade! :)
It's been awhile since my last posting, because I've been working on a project for Sony. So I decided to try something a little different and a little more based on real life. Or as real as my life gets, anyway.
My daughter Jasmine -- whom a lot of people that know us refer to as "Banzai Girl 2.0" -- is really into SAILOR MOON these days. So much so, that I bought a really nice custom Sailor Moon costume for her, along with real boots and handmade jewelry to match. I hope you enjoy it! I'll post a full-color version as soon as Mae Hao finishes it.

| BANZAI GIRLS: GRITTY IN PINK! JinkyCoronado 2010/3/25 23:29 3933 9
Hi! I put this up a few hours ago but it seems to have disappeared, so I'm re-posting it. Here we go! :)
Over the course of my writing and drawing BANZAI GIRL at Sirius and BANZAI GIRLS at Arcana, I was able to fill the series with all manner of monsters, creatures, and other foes for my namesake Jinky to fight -- everything from Asian monsters of myth and legend to giant Japanese robots. Essentially, I managed to include all the trappings of the genre.
The one thing missing from BANZAI GIRLS has been a bigger, badder female foe to cause Jinky grief. So when I decided to work on a new BANZAI GIRLS storyline, which should come out sometime in 2011, I promised myself to remedy that.
I decided to create a character that was a visual dichotomy: She would be someone severely dressed, goth-like, in spikes, a collar, spiked hair, tattoos, severe heels, and a punishingly-tight corset...and offset them by coloring them all in non-threatening, sweet shades of pink. Here's my first drawing of her: PINQUE!
Let me know what you think of her!

| BANZAI GIRL: TORN AMONG THREE WORLDS! JinkyCoronado 2009/8/24 8:27 3932 6
My character Banzai Girl is caught among three worlds. In "real life," she's a schoolgirl worrying about homework, boys, and mythical monsters that have become all too real.
Meanwhile, her dreams alternate visions of herself as a Princess or as a Future Freedom Fighter.
And when all three realities intrude upon her, life becomes way too much to handle!
This is an art team-up, by the way. BATTLE OF THE PLANETS and WOLVERINE MANGA artist Wilson Tortosa worked on it with me.

| BANZAI GIRL: THE MOVIE! by Adriano Melo JinkyCoronado 2009/9/19 20:44 5843 3
Awhile back here on Heromorph, I was discussing with other artists the idea of a BANZAI GIRL movie. "Who would play me?" I wondered, after shooting down the idea that I could play myself.
A number of names were kicked around. I think everybody decided that if a BANZAI GIRL movie were to be made in 2010, then Vanessa Hudgens would be the logical choice.
But when I originally conceived BANZAI GIRL a few years ago, I had someone else in mind: Kristen Kreuk, who played Lana Lang for years on Smallville and Chun-Li in the recent Street Fighter movie.
Witchblade artist Adriana Melo graciously did a drawing of Kristen as my character, and I thought to share it with you now.

| BANZAI GIRL: THE AFTER KAT! JinkyCoronado 2010/6/6 23:51 6925 7
After Kat smashes in the door and finds her kidnapped old flame Rommel strapped to a chair, she quickly unties him as he assures her his kidnapper hadn't set up any kind of trap or explosive. Clearly, he was wrong!
Meanwhile, I'm back! This is the first fresh glimpse of my character Banzai Girl, all grown up and owning her own fashions-and-perfume store! (Oh, and for those of you paying attention, my dress in this scene is actually a lovely blouse I bought in real life from Cache`!)
Coloring is, as usual, by my colorist Katrina Mae Hao.

| BANZAI GIRL: REVENGE OF THE TIKBALANG! (line art) by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado 2011/9/19 22:17 2768 1
This concept is based on the same layout idea I used with the previous drawing I did, but with certain changes. Anyone discover what my original inspiration was?
In this scene, the half-horse, half-man the Tikbalang seeks his revenge on Michelle and me for ruining his wedding! (It's a long story.)

Hi! Sorry I've been away. I've been working on a new project. Now i'm back working on a few new BANZAI pieces that I hope you'll like.
This time around, I'll share with you all the steps in creating the new piece. This is my character battling the sinister Snakeman. It's just attacked my good friend Michelle, and i'm coming to the rescue!

| BANZAI GIRL: REVENGE OF THE SNAKEMAN (line art) by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado 2011/9/4 6:28 2736 0
Here's the finished (more or less) line art. I took the rough that you saw posted earlier -- which is drawn on tracing paper so it's easy to see through, and had lots of cutting and taping for pieces I re-worked -- and I drew this tightly onto 2-ply bristol board working on a lightbox. Then my brother Pejee cleaned up and finessed the piece in Photoshop.
My lightbox is actually a big solid wood drafting table with a 22" x 28" lightbox built into it, that I bought in Brazil and had shipped to the USA. It is EXACTLY the same type of table used by Mike Deodato, Will Conrad, and Cliff Richards!
Now's it's being Emailed off to Katrina Mae Hao for coloring! (You're certainly welcome to color it, too, if you like!)

| BANZAI GIRL: Her First Time! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado 2011/1/20 22:06 3819 2
Wow! I can't believe I just found this! This was the first-ever drawing I made of my character Banzai Girl, some years ago.
Sure, I'd done some other preliminary sketches, trying to get a cartoon version of my face, figure out the costume elements, skirt length, and so on....
...but this was the first drawing I ever did that put it all together in one place and even figured out the colors, skirt pattern, and the very careful way I wanted shaodws cast on the skintones, so that the skirt would cast a shadow on her legs, and so forth, to give the art more depth.
Cute, unknowingly sexy, a little clumsy, silly fun -- I think it all came together here.
Thoughts?
