What happened here? Answer me !!! I'm certain the Black Mantis would actually want me to answer him.  The trouble with that is, he's choking the life out of me. I try to pry his fingers loose but it's a futile effort at best, I hear the servos audibly strain against his physical power and even my cybernetics start shorting out. Everything gets all snowy like when you're watching a video with poor reception.  I always though this sonofabitch would kill me, I just didn't think it would be today. The whole world starts going black and his booming voice becomes a mere echo in the distance and just as I make peace with the end...

"Gaaah <hack> <cough> Wha, what happened?  Am I dead?"

I'm surprised to feel air filling my lungs although m,y throat feels like it was massaged by an elephant.

"No, you're not dead Obsidian...not yet.  You have much to answer for. For example, why is may eldest child lay there bereft of life and yet you stand before aglow with her divine might? Did you deceive her, just to become a god? I know how it's done, how do you think I gained my divine status?"

His voice is cold as ice and I'm more terrified than I've ever been in my entire life. He could have ended me quickly with a twist if his wrist but I don't think he wanted to or I'd be dead where I stand.

"I was attacked, she came to help, and she was run through with my blade."

I've never seen his face and I'm quite certain that the visage I see now is some kind of illusion but his glowing eyes feel as if they're burning a hole into my soul.

"If what you say is true then why do you have her powers?"

"The assailant didn't stick around, I doubt he knew she was a goddess. She died in my arms and told me this divine power was a gift and not to throw my life away but all I want to do is kill the bastard who took her from me!"

We hadn't known each other long but it felt like an eternity,a blissful forever, that was stolen from me by some cruel twist of fate.

"Why didn't you kill him? He was holding your enchanted blade was he not?"

Here's the good part and I'd like to hear his opinion on why this guy didn't die.

"I tried, I spoke the command phrase but nothing happened. All I know is that this guy was trained by my clan. The move he used to disarm me was created by them..'

"Why did you relinquish your blade?"

I thought for sure I could easily kill him using the sword's failsafe but it didn't work and all I got for my trouble was skewered. That's when Moonshadow showed up and this guy didn't miss a beat, he turned on his heels and ran her through too."

"There is only one possibility that would explain why he didn't die when you spoke the command...He is you."

"WHAT?!?!?"

I can't believe my ears, there's no way this can be true.

"He is either form an alternate timeline, or a clone."

"HOLY SHIT!"

The words ring in my ears as I remember Razor cutting off my arm. Yeah, that would be more than enough raw DNA to do the job. It would certainly explain how he just waltzed right in here without the alarms going ape shit.

"Wait a second, even with accelerated growth how could anyone make a clone that has my fighting skills?"

The Black Mantis reverts back to his diminutive self with a flash, and seems more somber now.

"It is possible though few besides those in my pantheon are familiar with the magics involved, one could create a clone that possesses all of the knowledge and skills of the original. However, it would still die from the enchantments on your sword...this is something else.  As of now, I am formally requesting your assistance, our standard arrangement plus a bonus should suffice. I want you to find my daughter's killer and bring back his head and only his head. I also want you to find out who created him or how he came to be. If there is anyone responsible, I want to know who it is so that I might deal with them myself."

One name immediately comes to mind.

"Nechronos, that was the name of the guy who I most recently crossed paths with.  He sent an old enemy of mine after me and that was how I lost my arm."

He seems puzzled at that last part, I guess he's not omniscient.

"Your arm? Yes that would suffice for a small army of clones, you may be in for more trouble than I first suspected. Let me see your arm."

I show him my cybernetic limb and he as I watch it materializes into an actual arm. I knew he do things like this but when everything we know says I have to wait to fix it and that I can't do it at all without Razor's sword, and then this guy just waves his hand I have to wonder...what the hell does he ever need me for?

"I'm curious Obsidian, why didn't you just repair it with cloned material?"

"Good question. It seems my old adversary used a mythril sword that not only prevents healing but can also stand up to my Infinitium sword."

"Oh is this so? I want to see this blade, show it to me."

I don't often say not to this guy and this is a simple request. I take him to where we're keeping the sword and as he walks into the room I hear him start to laugh.

"Hahaha, do you know what you have here?"

"No." I say stupidly

"This is not a mythril blade, this is an Infinitium blade."

"Um my scanners revealed it to be mythril."

"It was design to cloak itself from detection, I should know...I forged it and I enchanted it. However, this should be in my vault.  Someone has betrayed me or this Nechronos found a way to steal from me. So be it, take this blade, it is yours now and will obey your commands as your previous sword did. They share many of the same powers save that this one is further enchanted to prevent healing of any kind.  You are lucky to have escaped with your life.  You can of course reverse the effects but you need to know the sword's name to do that."

"What is the sword's name?"

"Doombringer.  I have bound it to you, use it well, but I will have it returned once you have yours safely back in your hands.  Now onto more important business.  YOU will need to learn how to use your divine abilities, and for that we must return to my realm. Incidentally, did Moonshadow ever tell you what sphere she was goddess of?"

"No.  It never came up, and I didn't want to take advantage of her like that anyway."

"Oh didn't you? I believe you took advantage of her abilities repeatedly."

"No I didn't I only ever asked her to use your resources to help...hunt...down...Razor.  What are you trying to say?"

"She was the goddess of secrets, Goddess of shadows, and espionage. In short she was the patron of spies, and intrigue. You called on her often, and I dare say that someone with your particular talents should be able to make great use of her powers. Her divine form was truly something to behold, half spider half dark elf.  I can't wait to see what form you take.  Come lets be off we have much to do and you have much to learn."

Yeah after that speech I'm getting rid of these powers whatever may be, at the first opportunity, but only after I've dealt with Nechronos, and my clone...how cliche is that really?

My most ambitious project to date 9 count em 9 Genesis models in one shot (Okay for me that's a lot) and I present to you....The Scions of Justice. From left to right :
Batmaster, Thunderbolt, Silver Beetle (the 4th), Spydra, Panterra (front Center), Cerebron (Front Rear), Scarlet Bow, The Black Scarab, Obsidian Mask, and lastly Infinity Man. This shot took less than 30 minutes to render and I am very proud of it. Furthermore there is very little post work in this image...mostly at the feet where the models didn't quite touch the floor. I would love to hear what you think of my team.

I have tracked her here, but, she is crafty and she has magic to hide her presence from me.  No matter, she will not evade my newest addition, assuming he takes this job. There's a lot of bad blood between us, especially after I tried to get my daughter to seduce him...heh, it was fun to watch though. He's such a sap. Always the victim, but never crying foul. As if being that way will balance out things in his favor somehow.  The fates have been cruel to that one, constantly stealing what little happiness he can scrape together. You'd think he'd be easy pickings for me, I can offer him everything but for some reason he wants to earn it..It's nopt like he'd be my lave but then again maybe that's not how he sees it. Oh well, I better find out what he needs most so I can have some leverage...hmm.

I can't believe I was so stupid, how could I have ignored the signs,  the spells went off just as they should and every warning  was there, one lone woman comes in and steals my greatest trophy.  Not just any trophy but the head of my greatest foe...Should she somehow figure out how to remove it from it's infinitium casing I and mine will have our hands full.  Parata was no laughing matter when he was alive and his return will be no laughing matter should he return.  Obsidian and the others defeated him before through deception, despite how much more powerful he was than them. They are the unknown element...still.  I'm hoping maybe Obsidian can recover Parata's head and save everyone from a clash of cosmic proportions.

It never fails to amaze me how every great once in a while there comes a mortal who can dupe even the most powerful and wise if divine beings, and while Obsidian may be immortal,  Maybe his lack of divine status, and lack of arrogance will give him the edge he needs to find this girl and save everyone I find it funny and just a bit ironic that it is what he lacks that will aid him most. I'll have to reward him well if he pulls this off.

Obsidian mask settles in to his new palace as High Justiciar. He is greeted by Munavi his administrator and personal assistant. The palace is lavish fr more so than he has ever known or is comfortable with. It is obvious to him that while this place would make a splendid residence, it is neither as well defended or as mobile nor even as self sufficient as his ship. It will make a nice weekend place he thinks to himself, but all business is just going to have be conducted aboard his ship so all personnel and files will be transferred aboard the S.S. Lillun.

In the realm of the Black Mantis I find that time passes differently, for every month I spend here only a minute passes in my own world, and because of this I am able to take the time to learn how to use my newly acquired divine powers.  I gain all of the aspects of a spider, and have insane uses for webs, as well as the knowledge of secrets. No mortal can hide form me what I wish to know. I have the ability to make a mortal willing tell me anything, I can absorb the information contained in any medium simply by touching it. Books, computers anything, I know passwords to all mortal devices with absolute certainty and I find there's roughly a 60% chance I know the password of any magical device about 80% if it's mortal made.  And I don't need my sword to use magic, no I know just about every spell there is and if i don't know it , it doesn't exist.   This is how Moonshadow was able to find my quarry so quickly and so accurately, the black mantis was right I was using her without even knowing it. We buried Moonshadow on a beautiful hill here and they erected a shrine in her honor, and I was informed that without the rest of the "Pantheon" I would be vulnerable to her enemies and so I reluctantly joined their ranks...provisionally.  When all this is over I will select a successor who will take over in the meantime I learn that gods take these power transfers seriously and that there's a lot of pomp and circumstance involved.  The rest of them may think this is a time for celebration but I do not.  During the festivities I find myself thinking of her, and how wrong all of this is. I didn't want this and life is playing one hell of a practical joke on me, a clone of me kills my new love, Razor cuts my bloody arm off and nearly kills my best friend, and some psychopath I have never heard of is responsible for it all.

I stare out of the large bay window in secluded room, my head reeling from the ungodly amounts of information flooding into my brain that I don't want, trying to make sense of it all when I become keenly aware that I'm not alone.  A servant has entered the room, and rather quietly too, shiny and metallic it appears to be some sort of android, and apparently female.

"His majesty has the great and powerful Mantis has sent me to see if you need anything. I am called PDX-17 and I am at your service."

She stands about 5'7" and if she were a real woman she'd be very attractive...not that I'm interested mind you.

"No thank you Sindhe,." I say off the top of my head "Why did I call you that? I'm sorry, PDX-17 is it?"

"H-How did you know my true name? I have not been called that in centuries sire."

Never seen an android act like that before, she's overwhelmed by hearing that name I wonder could she be...?

"PDX-17, were you always...as you are now?  An android I mean."

She seems stunned that I'd ask, and is visibly taken aback.

"N-No sire, I was once mortal of flesh and blood. I am now bound to this form."

That's what I thought, and in an instant i know just about everything there is to know about her. Her childhood, where she grew up, her first love, how she came to be in her predicament, and even how to return her to her true form. She wants to return to her true form but all those she knew and loved are long gone and she's very insecure and...  I start to become lost in her world, and and have to pull myself out of the swirling mist of information.  This is one of the drawbacks to being the god of intrigue and secrets, I am also the god of knowledge and it is all too easy to become lost in someone's life as I see it from their perspective, I only need touch them or be in the presence of someone who does not wish to keep their life story a secret in order to gain every detail of knowledge about them, unfortunately I also gain an empathy and can get caught up in the whirlwind of emotions. Sheesh how do these guys deal with this...Practice I guess.

"Are you alright sire, you seem lost in thought.  Should I return later?"

She's intrigued by me, attracted to me, her feelings for me are quite clear to me, but I am simply not in the mood to entertain them right now.  It's freeing to know how someone feels about you it kinda makes things easy when dealing with relationships I guess.  They don't have to demonstrate how they feel or constantly show what you, that is I, mean to them because I instantly know.

"Sire?"

Oh crap I drifted off again, this is very distracting.

"No um I don't need anything right now, thank you...and...you were missed."

"I-I'm sorry sire but..."

"Your friends and family, they missed you a lot, and they loved you...they were okay. I know you always wondered."

"Thank you sire."

She places her fingers over her lips, quickly bows and runs out of the room, presumably to go cry, but they are tears of joy.  It feel nice to give someone something they need on an emotional level.  That's when the realization hits me, that's what Moonshadow did for me.  I miss her...but part of her is here, and if I want I can get lost in her life with ease. I won't, I can't, there are more important matters to attend to and as I stare out of the window over the vast city before me I know what must be done and I'm good with it.  My clone must die, and I must be the one to kill him, and I know where to begin my search.   I summon the Lillun and meet her at the space dock, but as she approaches I'm completely floored.  I barely recognize her, the Black Mantis' people have made some major upgrades and there's just no reason for the level of overkill he had put in her, she was already one of the most powerful ships in the galaxy, now...now she IS the most powerful ship in the galaxy. I have been doing everything in my power to avoid serving the Black Mantis but I am starting to think I may have been hasty in that decision, I mean I know he's crazy, and insanely powerful but he travels through the vast realities of the multiverse, only now am I gaining a true appreciation of the possibilities for adventure that could bring. I can't be the High Justiciar forever, and serving Analaeus isn't really my thing, I've never been comfortable in that role.  I have some serious thinking to do gotta be careful though, it's just too easy to get lost in it.

A techno-ninja stalks an IGFW officer aboard a freighter, his stealth suit enabling him to avoid the internal sensors. The final fate for this Rayalan officer...death. Techno-ninjas like their ancestors are intrusion specialists and masters of theft, sabotage, and murder. However, like any good assassin they are well versed in the use of modern technology to make themselves the ultimate in stealth operations. Holographic devices, universal translators, and nano-surveillance equipment make them truly formidable and place them in high demand.  Each member of their clan is expected (as in ancient times) to maintain multiple lives and be prepared to give his or her life for the clan.  They also enjoy the support of the clan and it's resources.

In game terms, players who opt for the vocation Ninja begin play with a selection of weapons and equipment provided by their clan, they also know the location of at least 2 safe houses and 3 additional operatives who can help them with fencing, forging, and stocking normal and specialized weapons. The only drawback is that the clan is fully in charge of who the Ninja can have as friends, where the Ninja can live, and who the Ninja may marry or date. It is possible to attempt to have allies adopted into the clan but this is a  rare thing indeed. Each candidate must abide by the rules of the clan and like The Ninja are subject to the same restrictions, any betrayal by an adopted member is the responsibility of the Ninja who sponsored the betrayer. As such, That Ninja is honor bound to hunt down, and bring in, or kill the traitor. The Ninja himself will himself be bound by a death pact if he cannot resolve the situation to the Jonin's (Clan leader) satisfaction either by clearing the culprit, Killing the traitor or forfeiting his/her own life.

At the request of his mistress Obsidian Mask travels to the outer rim of the Andromeda galaxy to a small nondescript mountainous world, the planet is unremarkable save for one notable feature...the floating city of Aldorand. The city is known for the sages that reside there as well as the magical secrets they keep. it is though to be merely a legend but the of course the Goddess of Intrigue would know better. Standing atop a high peak of a nearby mountaintop Obsidian view the city in the distance. Once there he hopes to find a way to track down and defeat Nechronos once and for all.

The alien spilled his guts thought not literally.  In no time it's just myself, Shadawar, Thunderbolt, and Panterra. When we arrive at the aliens citadel, we discover that the place is seriously well guarded.  I make a call to the other Obsidians and the battle begins.  I fly in through the chaos with the Wraith, and slip in completely unnoticed. Thunderbolt who once said he wouldn't follow me into a shopping mall sticks to my plan and the aliens who found it so very easy to take down my alternate selves are finding this hero a bit more difficult to manage. The ones that don't get electrocuted, are pummeled into sweet unconsciousness.  My sensors can barely perceive the action but what I catch is pretty cool. Thunderbolt's speed is unrivaled in all the known galaxies and it truly is a sight to behold. As the guards drop by the dozen as we continue to fight our way inside to the inner sanctum until finally we reach the center. The room is spherical with a throne in the center and 4 control panels surrounding the massive pedestal on which that throne sits. Upon that throne sits an alien unlike the others, larger more intimidating and garbed differently than the others. He rises to his feet and simply lifts his hand and a massive forcefield  springs to life.

"I applaud your tenacity, but you will not go any farther here."

Thunderbolt's lightning bounces harmlessly off the field completely ineffective, as does Panterra's shield, and my own bullets. Even Shadawar's Psi-Blade fails to so much as scratch the thing.

"Your weapons and powers will avail you nothing against this barrier."

"That may be true..." I add "But you're stuck inside. And the second you step foot outside of that thing I'm going to put you down. With the help of my friends of course."

He sighs and shakes his head.

"You are indeed the Prime, none of the others took so much as a second to contemplate gathering their allies.  They each were confident they could protect their friends and loved ones.  Never once did they think that perhaps their friends and allies could have saved them.  The loss of those was a tragedy, had we known the effect that our scans had on them we would have stopped sooner and avoided all this senseless conflict."

His words have me at a loss, I thought they wanted this conflict.

"You have me at a loss.  You were the ones who attacked us.  You've killed us by the thousands and now you say it was all an accident?"

"Our troops were sent simultaneously throughout the myriad realities.  Their mission was to seek out the prime Obsidian, and gain his...your...assistance.  Time has not passed for us as it has for all of you. For my people it has been mere weeks since I order the search and my soldiers have only just returned. Their reports of your deaths were most alarming, and quite unexpected. The energy pulse we used was supposed to be harmless, but on those who were not the prime it simply destroyed their life force. When their allies attacked my men, they defended themselves. So much death, and now it has to end."

"Is this some sort of trick? Do you expect us to believe you meant no harm to us after your people slaughtered us by the thousands?  You have got to be insane."

All of my scans from Voice Stress Analysis, to Heartbeat Monitoring, say he's telling the truth or at least he believes he is.  Still there's a lot of dead folks to answer for. There is only one way however, to tell if he means what he says.

"Fine.  Let's say I believe you. Drop this forcefield and turn yourself over to my custody, and we'll talk."

he takes a deep breath and I wait for him to refuse...but he doesn't.

"So be it.  If that is the only way to end this I will surrender and my soldiers will stand down. We are at your mercy."

He gives the order to his men and the fight is over. We escort him to an interrogation room to be questioned as soon as we figure out exactly what it is we want to ask. I for one cannot believe how this has twisted around. They went from die hard enemy to just giving up.  It just doesn't kae sense.

"So egghead, what do we do now?"

Thunderbolt's question is the one on everyone's mind right now and I honestly don't have an answer.

'Captain, I believe our first step must be to ask the question: Why were they doing this in the first place."

"Captain?" Thunderbolt asks Shadawar wryly.  "Wait a second, you actually call this guy Captain?"

"Obsidian has proven himself to be a more than competent commander and leader.  As captain he always has his crew's best interest and we are each willing to lay down our lives for him and he for us."

"Well I'll be damned."  Thnderbolt says in disbelief.

"What?" I ask in return certain there'll be some smartass remark for my trouble.

"Well it just that I never thought you'd grow up. I guess it takes elves a bit longer but it happens, consider me impressed."

"Thunderbolt..."

"Yes?"

"Kiss my ass."

"There's the Obsidian I know."

"If you two are quite done we have more important things to do."

Panterra, ever the voice of reason is nonetheless right. We'll have time for useless chatter later.

So the question to ask is: Why did they need the Prime in the first place? Hopefully this whole nightmare will be over soon.

In orbit around Earth I am visited by none other than a dimensional traveling Tony Stark, aka Iron-Man. The last we saw each other he had some choice words about a dilemma I had when Dominion traveled to his universe and teamed up with Doctor Doom. Now he needs my help to stop Thanos here in my universe...Their heroes are slow and sloppy...The Scions of Justice already stopped Thanos and sent him packing, more specifically Thanos learned why the Infinity-Man is called the Infinity-Man. Thanos' beaten and battered carcass has been returned to his home dimension and it will be a cold day in hell before he ever tries to do anything here again. That having been said, I have just one thing to say: " Stark piss off." Take you and that outdated antique of a suit of armor and kick rocks. In other words GET OFF MY SHIP!"
Man That felt good I really hate Tony Stark...especially after that whole Civil War debacle where he got away with way too much.

Soldiers are the backbone of every military and during the Millennium wars every world saw more than their fair share. As warriors for their   government they're often sent to secure their rulers interests. They fight who they are told to fight and follow orders. Their lives are structured and ordered and many serve their entire lives. There are those however who simply cannot be constrained by the constant discipline and choose not to remain in service but even they cannot escape the knowledge and experiences of the soldier's life. Anyone can pick up a weapon and do battle but true warriors are trained and hardened.

For your viewing pleasure a visit to the Batcave from Terry Mcginnis fresh from the future.  Bruce is understandably put off as well as Damian, Dick, and Barbara.  Of course Terry is privy to all of their secret identities and this fact alone is what's so unsettling for the lot.  How Terry got here and what he's after are the questions on everyone's minds.

Note: This Batcave was thoroughly researched and has been saved as a scene which means you will see it and it's many sections again when I do Batfan art.

The Ferusian continent of Galeria has some beautiful coastlines and I had long ago taken it upon myself to build a vacation home far from the palace that I lived in during my tenure as High Justiciar. The place isn't as grandiose as the palace but then again that's not my style. Built into a cliff about 100 feet above the beach in a little cove it is the perfect place to get away from it all.  My wives and I along along with Aini,  take the next few weeks to get some sun and frolic in the waves like children.  I enjoy snorkeling so we also spend a great deal of time checking out the nearby reefs. The sea creatures of Ferusi are something to behold, both exotic and beautiful to behold most of the eas life is quite colorful. I have given my crew paid furlow and basically run of the place and so they've scattered to the four winds. Normally someone like Shadawar would be a rare sight but since the Sathari occupation of the planet there have a been a few positive changes the presence of aliens being one of those.  it's a gorgeous day for swimming and and I am just getting ready to take the boat out to the reef when I hear a someone yelling from above on the cliff. I can easily magnify my vision with my cybernetics and what I see is a buzz killer.  A Sathari officer, what could he possibly want? If Analaeus wanted me he has a direct line. That being said this seems like personal business invading my personal life. The gentleman makes his way down to the beach where the girls and I are and marches towards me.  The entire time I can't help noting how out of place he looks on a hot summer day in full dress uniform on this sandy beach. As he approaches, he says something that gets my full attention...he says my name.

He salutes like a pro and says:

"Indor Rusquion Tura, I have been sent by his majesty the Emperor Analaeus Sathari to secure your cooperation in a very delicate matter."

Indor is a title given to high ranking former officials by the Sathari government.  It's a title I appreciate but few people use my actual name.  It's so rare sometimes I forget I have a name other than Obsidian. Handing me an official "sealed" document which opens only upon confirmation of my DNA (LIke my clone couldn't have opened it) I am stunned to discover that it contains only a set of coordinates with no instructions. I'm guessing the vacation is over.

Analaeus is a friend and I don't let my friends down when they need me. I'm sure there is a good reason for all the secrecy.

"Okay, um what's your name?"

"High Cano, Vel Revv sir. I am commander of the Fekthir.  According to my orders my ship and my crew are at your disposal. We will take you wherever you need to go."

"I have my own ship, thanks."

"I know sir, it is currently in my ship's docking bay ready to go when you are."

"Damn your ship must be huge."

My ship is easily the size of a small cruiser the Sathari really go overboard with their designs.

"My ship is the largest in fleet.  We have been ordered to remain at your call at all times. These orders come from the Emperor himself. This mission is of the highest secrecy.  Even High Justiciar Harley has not been informed."

Okay now I'm worried, it's not normal to bypass the chain of command.  The girls and I pack up and I send the all hands on deck signal and end several vacations at once.

"It'll take a a full day to reassemble me crew, I'll sinal when we are ready."

"Very good sir, we'll await your call."

he heads to his shuttle atop the cliff and I suit up. I ask the ladies to remain planetside for this one...I've held enough memorials for a while I haven't the stomach to lose more family.  Whatever this is about it won't be fun and games.

These are some sample species for beginning player, that will appear in the player's guide. They are shown in a sci-fi setting as that is the normal setting for the game. Displayed here are, (from left to right) Celestial Elf (the most populous of elves), Luminesti elves (The most magical and long lived of elves also called Alfar), Dwarves (rugged and prolific), Solaran (Denizens of the Solar system also known as Humans), and The Daakalfar (also known as Dark Elves) The differences, advantages and disadvantages of each species will be explained in full detail in the final draft (Not shown is the Kryllian the second most prolific species in the fives galaxies second only to Humans).  I would be happy to answer any questions.

The Sentinels are a group of heroes who were established purely by accident. They are some of the most powerful heroes in the five galaxies and consist of the heroes:

Spectre mistress of fear, Sentry a Galactic sentinel with powered armor and above the law status throughout the IGFW systems. Red Eagle master detective, The Guardian the last of the Nerari and powerful enough to move a planet out of it's orbit. Paragon the heroic powerhouse whose strength is surpassed only by the hero Infinity-Man, and Phoenix the cosmic powered hero whose fiery powers are as yet not fully realized.  All of these heroes can fly...all are registered...and all of them are fully supported by authorities on all IGFW worlds. More on these individuals to come in their independent entries.

A nice wallpaper of my favorite OC looking badass with his new blade (I had to replace that Count Dooku one for something more original) and of course his ship The SS Lillun in the background. I'm very pleased with the lighting on this one and the overall look is very Mass Effect (It should be I did enough practice images) and a bit less Star trek which is better for attracting Gamers.

Here in her debut is Aini Quenya, demon hell-spawn or divine angel...does she have secrets and is there more to her demonic nature than she's telling?  Obsidian believes himself falling in love, but so too have men who were deceived by succubi.  Demonic forces are nothing to dismiss and love makes one blind...unless one is very well prepared. Aini's form is not typical of her species and reflects the preferences of Obsidian Mask...as a Ninja one might suspect he is partial to Japanese ladies...or Oni. As mentioned her demonic nature is very prevalent...unlike a Succubus they have no ability to shape shift at will their shifting ability is completely out of their control becoming whatever their bond mate most desires...even if their bond mate doesn't know what that is. An interesting species to be sure.  This demon type emits pheromones that are only detectable to their mate as well and which are actually repulsive to other potential rivals.

As one might suspect this idea was inspired by Star Trek...an episode in which a "Metamorph" was betrothed to a planetary leader and instead bonded with Cpt. Picard...Although that woman was actually trained by tutors and the demon mentioned here acts on instinct seeking out skills and  other attributes to suit her partner...I have not decided if they only come in the female persuasion. Feedback would be appreciated.

There was a time when The being known as Raven Silverspear was mortal, yes mortal, but moreover Raven was...a man.  Dragons are dangerous creatures, even in death their magics can be devastating.  Raven has fought one long ago and it left a curse alright, a form of lycanthropy.  Not controlled by the phases of the moon like some common werewolf, no this would be far more insidious.  Passion was the trigger be it rage or love, even lust, and yes fear. In those moments Raven would lose control and transform into a massive dragon-man of incredible power.  However, after a time one can learn to control such power and Raven had done just that...with a single side effect.  The dragon spirit that possessed him was female and had a mind of it's own.  She tried to take over as often as possible constantly pressing to be set free.  But Raven was a man and a manly man at that and the few times the dragon won the transformation spread to his human form making him a very beautiful woman, albeit a very manly woman.  Time and again he would best this curse and the dragon spirit would find new ways to assert itself. Today however is the last of those battles, the dragon has won.  Raven's memories would be the final victim as the dragon within replaced those precious moments and transform them so that every memory would seem to be from the perspective of a female. One by one minute by minute the struggle would be futile until all that remained was of the man Named Raven was the tear he shed at the loss of who he was. With the transformation complete Raven and the dragon would be merged forevermore into one mind, and her true power would be realized. Now a god can defeat a simple dragon curse but when one is born mortal all aspects of the mortal coil become enhanced to godly levels, and had Raven been aware of that she certainly would have been rid of this curse a long time ago.  Unfortunately what is done is done.

As she gazes at her reflection in the water a loud chirp of a communication badge startles her from her quiet contemplation.

"Raven, I said can you hear me? Is everything okay? You've missed your watch."

The voice belonged to Norjaguar, her long time friend and confidant she remembered she was supposed to relieve him at the watchtower and heavens, she was very late indeed.

"I-I am sorry I don't know what came over me I'll be right there."

"Is everything okay? I was getting a bit worried for a second."

""No I'm find I'll be right there."

With less effort than it takes a mortal to breath Raven is instantly teleported hundreds of miles to the Watchtower, Norjaguar's massive 7 foot felinesque frame is hunched over looking at monitors, diligently scanning for anything that might wish them harm...and woe to any such being for the would surely rue the day they were born for any such foolishness....there are things in this universe far worse than death, and they knew all of them well. Security had been tightened following the theft of a very important relic and now the once complacent beings found themselves on edge awaiting the return of an enemy that nearly destroyed them all.  Clearing her throat the lithe form of the now sultry goddess walked into the room, were his eyes not glued to the monitors Norjaguar would surely have noticed the change in body language and motion. However, something had his full attention, something distressing.

"What're you looking cat?"

"I'm not sure.  Sentry give me a magnified view of sector 13971.9 mark 881.2 and place it on the main viewer."

"Aye sir."

"What is that Jag?" Raven was truly puzzled by the image before her and couldn't make heads or tails of the twisted and deformed object before her but something about it seemed....familiar..

"Enhance the image!"

"Aye sir."

As the blurred image cleared it became frighteningly obvious what it was and a wave of terror raven had not felt in centuries washed over her.

"Is that-Is that the Black Mantis's ship?"

"It can't be, his ship is constructed of pure infinitium.  It's indestructible. What could do THAT to infinitium?"

The twisted and mangled form of the tiny fighter floated lifelessly through the emptiness of space it's lone passenger barely clinging to life.  There is no mortal weapon that could possibly harm the indestructible metal that the ship is composed of which means only one thing...There old enemy has returned.

"Thunderbird, are you there?"

Thunderbird is the lord of the skies and all the things that fly pay homage to him and pray for safe travels, but today...today he will be fulff

"Yeah I'm here. Wassup?"

"Rescue, now, urgent."

"Give me the coordinates, I'm at the airlock now."

"Transmitting."

In the blink of an eye the lord of the skies screams through the vaccuum of space to the wreckage that was once one of the most fiersome craft in the galaxy, now however, it is a twisted coffin holding his friend fast.  removing him would be child's play however, the twisted metal is mangled together in such away that it cannot simply be opened and worse yet it is still very much indestructible. despite being strong enough to move mountains none  of these powerful beings are strong enough to bend Infinitium leaving only one choice.

"I'm going to break the windshield!"

"You're in space, doesn't he still needs to breathe?"

"NO he has more than enough magic to sustain him for now.  Here goes."

The canopy caves under the full might of the eternity crystals Thunderbird uses to enhance his power and he carefully removes the severely injured body of the most powerful of their number.  A large gash in the Black Mantis's side is deep enough to expose several ribs and he is losing blood rapidly.

"He's not healing at all guys, and he should be healing faster than a troll on steroids."

"T-Bird get him back here as fast as you can."

"No I'll teleport him to the Doctor, she'll be able to do something."

IN an instant the tiny figure of the Multiverse's greatest assassin is aboard their massive starship, and the pantheon of gods remember true fear and doubt for the first time in centuries.

Hits1506  Comments2
Nightmares are demonic steeds summoned from the pits of Hades and are faster than any horse or equivalent creature in the 5 galaxies.  They are immune to fire of all kinds and no form of hat can harm them. They can be summoned magically or tasked by an elder demon though the latter is rarer than one might think. These horses are not some simple dumb animal but intelligent beings just as capable at plotting evil as any denizen of Hell.  They have been known to take inexperienced summoners on "shortcuts" through hell to travel faster, though they seldom tell their riders that the trip is often one way if one is not prepared for such a journey.  They can speak most languages and are adept liars. They despise both Pgasai and unicorns but especially noble Pegasai with whom they are compelled to do battle with to the exclusion of all else, unto death...rider or no. They like most demons, can barter for souls though few would trade their soul for transportation. Their appearance is that of a flaming horse made of lava rock, and all extremities are aflame save for their large demonic wings.  They are susceptible to cold and cold-based attacks and any attack that channels goodness or holiness. Unlike many denizens of darkness they require feeding while in the mortal realms which generally takes the form of freshly killed meat though they much prefer the taste of sentient beings they can survive on any fresh kill.  They are considered class 2 demons for their sheer lack of demonic powers but their primary attack is a massive gout of flames with a range as great as any dragon's and ten times as hot. Their fire resistance/immunity does not extend to their riders and they have been know to conveniently forget this fact when seeking refuge in places such as volcanoes.  They truly are a mount you ride at your own risk.  As an important side note some powerful Evil warlords (including Death Knights.) are often granted one of these steeds as a reward for furthering some demon's agendas...such riders are one with their mounts and a formidable duo and should not be taken lightly.

After a night of carousing, This Dakkalfar who still hasn't told me her name, decides to take me to her place for a night cap.  I'm a bit paranoid and immediately my mind starts going through every worst case scenario my imagination can dream up. I don't like secretive women, without exception and this dark elf is about as secretive as can be. Still, she has a nice layout, and her house is pretty cool too.  I'm supposed to be relaxing here but I can't just can't seem to overcome 200 years of combat training and adventuring which keeps screaming "She's gonna eat your eyeballs...your cybernetic eyebals!!!!!". I know it may sound silly to someone on the outside but I have seen things that would fool any man and I have run across Succubus, Arachnie, Shapeshifters, and all kind of creatures that all like to disguise themselves as beautiful women and then eat or soul suck the guy dumb enough to fall for that kind of thing. Subtly I scan her with my eyes, to an onlooker it would look like I'm checking her out...I am but not just because she's smoking hot. Yeah come to think of it she is really smoking hot...one could even describe her beauty as unearthly. It's at this point that I (despite the fact my scans say she just an elf) know something's up no woman just looks that hot without magical help. But she has to know she wouldn't be able to charm me with magic. Enthrallment spells don't work on elves...any elf for that matter it one of our greatest benefits well that and being able to see in pitch darkness.  Still my instincts aren't usually wrong and I have learned to listen when they're telling me to be cautious...looks like drinks are out...damn I bet she has some choice vodka in there too.

I have returned to Namae where I hope to find some clue as to what happened to Ichio and I am greeted by the local authorities.  They explain that because of my diplomatic ties I must be escorted while on the planet and that my ship must remain docked.  I do manage to get clearance for my hovercycle while here so it's not a total wash. They assign me a cyborg (yeah like it could keep up) and I am told she's one of the most powerful on the planet.  Knowing the Namae...that's saying something. I begin by searching Ichio's home in the high rise district, and area so densely populated that the residential area is all high rise buildings. Ichio's apartment is on the 29th floor of one of these high rises which makes for one helluvah climb as the elevator quite naturally, is out.  Combing through his apartment I find a receipt for his charter flight and the name and logo of the agency who booked it. I also pick up residual traces of nanotech on the card itself. in the letters, and it doesn't take long for my suit's scanners to apeshit.

"WARNING Nano-intrusion detected!  Activating countermeasures." a low powerwed EMP stops the little buggers in their tracks and the sub-nanite scrubbers collect the little bots and contain them for the time being. I say nothing to the cyborg police woman who seems oblivious to the event. As I leave she puts her hand on my shoulder and asks:

"You were planning to share that evidence yes?"

No flies on this one here.

"Of course, I'll get you a sample when we return to the station."

She is far more perceptive than she lets on. Something I'll have to be mindful of in the future. I have tried repeatedly to scan her systems but her masking tech is some of the best I have ever seen and my sensors can break it.

"Where to now Mister...Mask is it?"

"Obsidian, just call me Obsidian or Kokuyōgan in your tongue."

"Ah so you speak our languages then?"

"A couple of them yes.  I spent some time here a few decades actually."

"Were you here for the Nacron invasion?"

"No just after during the cleanup."

"That was a terrible tragedy, for the whole planet."

"It seemed so to me."

"May I ask, are you expecting this to be the same or similar?"

"I hope not but my sources say there's no system safe from these Maetriks are apparently cyborgs like yourself except that they're out to end all life that they cannot control and add to their collective or hive or whatever they call themselves."

"My understanding is that they can usurp electronic devices and basically anything with a computer."

"If you're wondering if you'd be at risk the answer is yes.  Ichio was killed by these machines and gods only know what happened to him. He wasn't a cyborg in fact he was just a man and they used him to lure me out.  Now It's my mission to make sure that's a decision they live to regret."

"It sounds like you cared deeply for your friend."

"He saved my life many times, and he was a good man. You mortals are a rare bunch and we elves don't like to get to close to too many of you.  You are bright sparks in the universe, with a light more brilliant than the stars themselves then you're gone in an instant. Once in a while a mortal comes along and changes our lives forever, the way we think, act, or feel...I think that's a mortal's true purpose...to change the way the immortal races view the universe.  Ichio did such a thing for me."

"I can see why you would want justice for him then."

"Justice? No my friend this has nothing to do with justice.  Justice is for beings capable of regret.  The machines have no understanding of the concept."

"So you are seeking vengance?"

"Absolu- what the?"

Looking out of the apartment window my eyes cannot believe what they're seeing. Beings who have not made their presence known in eons are hovering high above the city. A giant pyramid shaped starship hovers ominously overhead and the cyborg and I high tail it to the street below.

"What is that thing, I'm not familiar with the type of ship."

The cyborg's words are lost on me as I frantically scan the ship to find the damned emblems that identify the GOD it belongs to.  Egyptian gods aren't like other gods, they do not exist in some distant dimension like say the Olympians, or the Asgardians, no they exist here in the mortal realm, with their full divine strength. I say a silent prayer to whatever gods may be listening and hope there is some kind of divine intervention coming.  It's one thing to challenge an avatar, but quite another to challenge a god in person. Finally my scanners locate the symbol...Osiris god of the afterlife.  At least it isn't Seth or Anubis.

The ship is quickly surrounded by Namaean forces but according to my scans they're just asking to be destroyed. The egyptian gods tech is among the best the entire known universe has to offer.  Their most formidable weapon...an antimatter cannon.  How that even works I have no clue.

"We need to help evacuate these people Obsidian, if that thing wants a fight these people are right int the mid-"

"If that thing wants a fight we're all dead.  I need to speak to them...now.  I need access to my ship."

"Why YOUR ship?"

"Because my ship has the power to drive these guys out of here if they get nasty and your don't."

"I see, in that case..." She pauses for a minute her eyes roll nearly to the back of her head and I can tell she's accessing a mainframe (robot tells)."Access granted you now have clearance to be in our airspace."

In an instant we're aboard the Lillun-2 and I hail the giant pyramid, a ship which vastly dwarfs my own. The ship's insignia identify it as the Nyuserre.

"Attention, Nyuserre this is Obsidian Mask, please state your purpose and intent."

After a moment...we receive a reply. Text only.  Tne message reads: "Move over."

I step to one side and instantly there stands before me a massive green skinned man,  with a pharaoh's beard, partially mummy-wrapped at the legs, wearing a distinctive crown with two large ostrich feathers at either side. In his hands is a large book with only two visible pages.  He looks down at me and says.

"You are Obsidian mask? Answer truthfully and know that the eye of Osiris compels you."

I can feel the power of the god's eye but I was gonna answer anyway.

"I am. What do you want of me Oh god of the afterlife?"

Gods love all the formal crap, makes me sick to my stomach actually.

"I have come to gift you, who seeks the destruction of the Maetriks.  A gidt of great power so that you might find and destroy this enemy of all."

Egyptian gods value and use technology as much as anyone in this universe and as such they would probably be susceptible to the Maetriks should they choose to attack them, and they most likely would.

"Thank you lord Osiris, I humbly accept your most generous offer (don't laugh it's not easy for me to talk like this.).  What mighty gift have you seen fit to grace this humble servant with?"

"I give you the book of Thoth, that you make undertstand the animals of the universe and the other is to understand the minds of the gods."

"A truly generous gift great Osiris, and I am honored to recieve it from your in person. You do my house great honor indeed."

Having a god grant you an audience is pretty awesome, having one pay you a personal visit is unheard of...unless you know the gods I know.

"The honor Obsidian is mine, I have learned of your great deeds from the God Karr and his pantheon, the universe is many times in your debt.  I ma saddened that we must ask you once again to place yourself in danger for those who will never know the good you do. Upon your successful return my peers and I would like to show our gratitude for all you have done."

I bow, genuinely. "Thank you.  It's an honor to hear you speak those words, and I mean that. I rarely receive thanks for my deeds and I would never presume to ask for any, but it warms my heart to hear it nonetheless."

With that, the mighty god of the afterlife places the tome in my hand and returns to his vessel.  For once I'm a bit speechless.  The mighty Pyramid ship departs with haste and I am left there feeling for the first time that what I do and the sacrifices I make are noticed by someone at least and appreciated by at least a few.
I bid the cyborg farewell and set course for Kryllia 4 the home base for the Travel agency that Icio used to book his ship. Time to get some answers.

There are worlds where the use of certain types of technology is restricted.  Such planets are closely monitored and if one expects to keep their licenses intact one simply obeys those restrictions and makes do with what is appropriate. Such is the case with Obsidian's Zero-cycle. A fine piece of machinery it is too, built for speed and well armed and armored it one beast of a bike and....it's great fun to drive. The cycle utilizes the latest in internal gyros and is quite capable of remote driving, when combined with it's on board AI it is capable of running independent of the rider ( it is important to note that the AI is not a fully sentient machine but simply and advanced set of programs).

Located on a distant planet outpost 321 stands as and shining example of how well the citizens of the IGFW come together to make the impossible happen. The planet it is located on is 85% water with several small continents and hundreds of tiny islands. The crews rand into tropical storms and all manner of sea life which threatened to end their colonization of this distant water world. Through perseverance and hard work the initial colonists managed to etch out a place in the barren waters and now inhabit most of the major landmasses on the planet. Outpost 231 is now a major stop for all deep space mission as it is the last resupply post on the far reaches of explored space. The planet's population began with just 1,435 people and in just 5 years is a booming 500,346 with more arriving all the time.
