| Women Of Silver: Wonder Girl SilverAgeMage 2007/4/21 19:06 2433 2
More cartooning shenanigans from S.A.M.! I had the idea to do tributes to DCs' Silver Age heroines and decided to start with Donna Troy in both her original and later costumes. More to come,if you want.
First Appearance Donna as WG: The Brave and the Bold #60(1965) 1st app. Donnas' red costume: Teen Titans #23(1968) |

| Doctor's Dilemma: Chinny McFate pijon 2007/5/2 12:02 2288 3
This was done for another site. The premise is to do a character in mad genius Temporal Dave's Squinty Mc Chin style. If you're not familiar with Dave's stuff, he's the guy that did the very funny BatHomer image in the upper right part of the Home Page. Since I'm such a huge fan of Squinty in particular and Dave in general, I actually picked up a pencil and drew something for the occasion (gasp!). I've also included the goofy little backstory I added over at the other site since folks seemed to enjoy that at least as much as the drawing.
Doctor's Dilemma: Chinny McFate Poor Kent Nelchin... as Chinworld's Dr. Fate, he would become the sorcerer supreme of this world simply by placing the mystic helmet of Fate over his head. Unfortunately, the ancient forces which placed these great magical powers within the helmet failed to consider the evolution of massive mandibles among the superheroes of the planet and poor Kent can't seem to get the helmet to fit right, no matter how hard he tries. This means he can't actually see when wearing the helmet and it causes his spells to misfire in unpredictable ways which makes poor Chinny one of the least called upon heroes of Chinworld. Squinty in particular, avoids working with him due to his own susceptibility to magic and has frequently been forced to come up with awkwardly lame excuses so as not to make poor Nelchin feel any worse.

| Supergirl Alex 2007/5/3 21:13 2569 2
Based on a Amanda Tapping pic Tartanninja posted in the Cookie Jar. Me thinks that guy has far to much time on his hands. I tried to draw her hand put I suck at them too much. |

| Supergirl - Towel Day Alex 2007/5/18 3:54 3439 5
Towel Day - 25 May
A towel, as it says in The Hichhikers Guide To The Galaxy, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitch hiker can have. Partly it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Krypton; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Oa, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kalanor; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Otago; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of New Genesis (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you - daft as a bush, but very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, or to cover yourself when that freaky Power Boy steals your top and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough
I was going to draw her hands but I suck at them and all attempts looked like crap, also was going to put a bit of lace on her bra but turned out I can't do that either And I know it looks like a sketch but the scanner picked up a lot a lines that where rubbed out. I think I may have went a little overboard with her hair |

| Why can't I draw Batman right? VagabondX 2007/5/20 20:52 2947 7
I'm not sure exactly what the problem is with this one but something really bothers me about it. Sort of seems like the top of the figure doesn't match up with the legs somehow and the head seems wrong. Not to mention the arms and hands and blah, blah, blah... The one on the left is the original layout and the one on the right was flipped over. The flipped one looks better to me which seems sad. Which looks better folks? The flat colors or the shaded? Second question: I feel like its proper to post most things I do. The work I'm 'happy' with and the stuff I'm not so that I can get authentic critiques on my work. Does everyone feel that way or should I just post the stuff I'm happy with? |

| THE BOY WONDER flinshady 2007/5/22 15:43 2042 4
Er... started off as one of my least favourites, looks too much like the Timm version (hence not original) but with a bit of tweaking it doesnt look too bad I guess. I originally started this cause some one emailed me & asked me to do the Bat boys, but I have since lost the email. oops. |

| Elseworlds fun. VagabondX 2007/5/24 21:52 2325 3
I like those Elseworlds books that DC does. Its fun to see how they change around the heroes we know and love. This was a Batman from one called 'The Secret Society of Superheroes'. In that story, the heroes who make up the Justice League in normal continuity form a team but choose to work in secret. Never letting anyone even know they exist. Bruce Wayne isn't even Batman until the end but when he does take up the mantle I really like the suit they designed for him. This pic is that suit. sadly, it looked tons better in the comic. |

| Cell shading practice. VagabondX 2007/5/27 23:17 2083 4
Drew this specifically to practice my cell shading. I'm pretty happy with it although I'd love to be able to try it with a tablet instead of a mouse someday. |

| Cell shaded Blue Devil VagabondX 2007/5/28 22:47 2134 2
Ok, bear with me, here is another cell shading practice piece. Biohaz_Daddy suggested I try the selection tool rather than the brush so I figured I'd give it a shot. I used my older Blue Devil pic as a test piece. I would never have thought that using the selection tools with a mouse would have been easier than the brush tool but sure enough it was. I didn't spend as much time on this one as I would have liked. No excuse for hurrying except that I needed to go to bed and I didn't want to have to wait to see what it would look like. I also tried doing highlights as well as shadows. Not sure if I like that or not. Seems to give it sort of a glowy aspect. |
