This one was an experiment to see how white I could make the costume and still keep it looking like a costume. |

| Spidey vs. Sandman BillTurner 2004/8/12 21:06 3640 10
This is a poser redo of a Steve Ditko Spider-man picture that was in The Sinister Six annual. Sandman is Tom Sizemore. After smudging his face and eyes around to make him look angry he ended up looking like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. I added the highlights to the hair to help the darker image show up against the black background. I scanned the Ditko picture and tried to reproduce the pose of Spider-man in poser. I got it almost perfect. I used the comic image of the Sandman and traced the outline of the pose on a transparent layer. I tried to do him in poser but it looked too much like a video game. I ended up doing him entirely with an airbrush and pen and the old dodge and burn. The logo at the top took hours. I did my own Spider-man costume and webbing. I'm getting so good at it I can do a full Spider-man in costume in about an hour and a half. I used a nude pose and I copied and pasted it on top of itself. I hued the one on the bottom red and the one on the top blue. I just cut the red parts of the costume out of the blue layer to reveal the red beneath. I did the webbing on a transparent layer with a 2 point pen tool. When I'm done I gausian blur the webbing layer .4 pixels. That is with a 600 pixel wide picture at 300 pixels per inch. I've seen the downloadable costumed poser figures but I like to do it myself. The sand was done with a tan airbrush and then I used the film grain filter set at varying degrees for effect.

| Cap Fix Freshmutt 2010/6/4 5:54 3637 7
Captain America without the head wings is like Batman without the bat ears. It just doesn't look right. It is an arbitrary change just because they have no function. So be like Batman Begins and give them a function. |

| Jean Grey: Throughout the Ages part 2 thestarkiller 2008/7/6 21:44 3634 7
After the defeat of Factor Three in 1964, Jean was given the opportunity to design new, more colorful costumes for the X-Men. This was what she designed for herself, although it begs the question, what the hell was she smoking? I was never a fan of this costume, but I had to include it as part of the chronology.
Next up: The X-Factor Years
UPDATE: fixed the belt buckle and added texture to the costume. |

| Firestar... what if.... VampireLover 2005/5/2 6:47 3629 7
I belong to a yahoo group for Firestar and we're having a what if fiction challenge. What if Firestar never left the Hellions?
I took the basic Hellion costume as a guide. But I hated the boots and gloves. I also know redheads, as a law, should never be forced to wear pink, so I changed it too.
Instead of doing her usual mask, I changed it to be a little less detailed. Almost went Keystone Cops...
I've been trying to work on how my costumes work, so I know that little flame is retarted. Any hints with how to make great looking flame I'd appreciate! |

| Spider-Woman VoltAmpere 2005/6/24 0:48 3621 10
Ok, now this is the 6th time i've tried to upload this image... this costume's been lying around the house for a while now. Finally took my lazy bum make a manip of it, and finish it. This is actually a hybrid of Ben Reiley's last costume, the black costume, and spider-woman 2's costume. I never could get the spider emblem look right, even on paper. it always ends up looking like an ant with an extra pair of legs, probably because it's stretched around the major axis. |

| Red&Blue ortiz01lgnd 2007/4/14 21:34 3617 5
Well, here's my second attempt. I did cut alot of corners since I was short on time. I know, Supergirl's cape looks kinda fake, and Spidey, well, let's just say that I've still gotta lot to learn. The webing on his suit was taking me too long so I just left it out. I chose a honeycomb pattern to try and imitate the real spidey suit. Sure, I could've just found a pic of the real suit and pasted it to the image but I'd rather keep practicing with creating the suit from scratch. Well, let me know how I can improve. Thanks for any suggestions... |

| Electro- Movie Version Jedifan227 2008/2/8 20:54 3616 5
I considered this old baddie for a secondary bad guy role in Spiderman 4. The main one has to be Carnage of course, and I have a manip planned to use the same base as this one, except it would be Carnie. As for an actor for the role? Perhaps, Alan Cumming, the guy from X-2 (electric boogaloo), |

| "Fame" - U-Go Girl, Orphan and Doop (Nov Challenge) Angelophile 2004/11/8 3:15 3613 8
Okay, this is one of the manips I've been working on some time, but the November challenge theme prodded me to finish it off and submit it. Here we have the world's favourite mutants, U-Go Girl (depicted by Jennifer Jason Leigh) and The Orphan (Jude Law) along with Doop (a King Edwards potato) on the cover of Hello! celebrity magazine. Time just seemed too highbrow for them.
Even managed to sneak in Phat, (depicted by Eminem, who else?)
All work was done in Photoshop CS, the costumes Frankensteined as usual from dozens of different sources. Another manip that weighed in at around 120 layers.
I appreciate any comments. |

An original costume based on John Cassaday's designs for Astonishing X-Men; this is the outfit I think Sam should wear in Uncanny X-Men! |

| Spiderman unmasked Jedifan227 2004/4/1 20:04 3604 4
I thought this was a good idea. But, I'll probably add the mask later. It was a good base, and a good "moody"pose. I like the overall look of the piece. |

| Dark Phoenix Redux JMPerkins 2011/10/13 12:09 3582 4
I wanted to redo the one I did a couple years ago because I felt it could be better.
The original idea was a cover recreation of "Phoenix Endsong" but since moved past that with the same feeling
The model is the same. Jennifer Korbin. |

| Wonderman By Winterhawk Winterhawk 2004/8/6 12:34 3581 7
This is actually a preview of my entry to the July Challenge. I have done a couple of different characters to put into one image and I way planning on posting each character in a separate manip afterwards anyway. But Since I have not submitted anything in a while and I just extended the deadline for the July Challenge I figured I would submit this one now. |

| Mission Improbable: Mystique Anyte 2008/3/27 20:01 3577 6
Inspired by QuantumFX, decided to try one of the challenge images as well. I haven't done any sort of photomanipulation in quite some time, so it was a bit of fun. Repainting skin is one of my favorite things. I want to do something about the texture/sheen of the gloves, but I think that's outside my particular area of expertise. |

| Darkstar Wasmith 2006/4/28 11:07 3575 7
This is nothing great, just a quickie. The base was small to begin with but I fell in love with the model's face... and I got the idea from Vampire Lover. I think I will do a better, larger, stronger, faster, etc. Darkstar mod in the future.
Don't know who the model is. |
