In Greco-Roman mythology, Arachne was a great mortal weaver who boasted that her skill was greater than that of Minerva, the Latin parallel of Pallas Athena, goddess of crafts. The offended goddess set a contest between the two weavers but the mortal weaver's subjects, the loves of the gods, was so offensive that Minerva destroyed Arachne's tapestry and loom. Ultimately, the goddess turned Arachne into a spider.

| With shells the size of a football field the atortal is the largest life form on the world of Gianos. These massive sea turtles ply the oceans feeding on the tiniest of creatures. Born live by the hundreds and the size of an earth sea turtle very few live to adulthood as most are picked off by predators. Juveniles swim about the shallows gradually moving out to deeper water. As they grow a cavity forms underneath the shell connected to the trachea. This chamber acts as a natural scuba tank providing the reptile with additional air while feeding. However this chamber in turn robs the turtle of its ability to dive relegating it to float on the surface and duck its head under to feed. Over time vegetation takes root turning the atortle into a living island. An atortal with a thick grove of trees indicates that it is a very old animal. |

New Orleans turned out to be a very exciting place for Conifer. During the day, the locals were very friendly, even in spite of her odd appearance, or maybe because of it; for she met many an odd folk down in the French Quarter. And the food! It was no wonder to her that Louisiana was in the top five fattest states in America. Conifer was raised on a private island off the coast of Maine, and though well traveled, has settled on the fact that New Orleans has become her favorite city. Not just because of the friendly people or the food; but also because she works off all her daytime calories by night. Here only two weeks, and she's already bagged eight vampires, a man (and woman and child) eating werewolf, and no less than fourteen voodoo zombies. She fought a strong Hellion (demon) to a stale mate, and had to leave him get away as she licked her wounds. There was no doubt; she loved this city!
