| BANZAI GIRL: TRIPLE PLAY! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2011/3/26 7:34 6490 3
In the worlds of BANZAI GIRL, there are three versions of Jinky: Schoolgirl Jinky, plus Future Freedom Fighter Jinky and Princess Jinky, the alternate lives of whom she experiences in her dreams. An unseen force brings them all together...just as the dreaded alien creatures known as the Shadow Whisperers come out to play!
Let me know what you think!

| BANZAI GIRL: MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2011/2/12 22:03 6340 8
I love full-length mirrors.
I have to make sure my school uniform fits properly. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself by looking frumpy and unappealing.
I'm still trying to figure out why my teacher made me move into the front row.

| BANZAI GIRL VS. THE SNAKEMAN JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/7/8 5:06 5992 8
Hi! This is my first-ever posting here on Heromorph. My name is JINKY CORONADO. I've been a model (twice!) in FHM Philippines, plus I've had a couple of calendars devoted to me, and I've been showcased in Femme Fatales and elsewhere.
BUT...mostly, I'm an artist and writer. I've been doing a full-color comicbook series I created, BANZAI GIRL and its sequel BANZAI GIRLS, for awhile now. I write it, I draw it, I'm the main character, and I'm even in a schoolgirl uniform as the main character on the photo variant covers.
I discovered Heromorph today and wanted to be a part of it, so I'm starting off with one of my favorites. This illustration starts off with a real photo of me, in the BANZAI GIRL uniform. I did the base drawing, then I was photographed by Don Feenerty. Then Eugene Perez, and Edwin David, jumped in and finished the rendering for me. (Most of my future pieces will be 2D and my line art.)
In the Philippines where I was born (though I live in the USA now), there's a local legend of a Snakeman that lives beneath the Robinson's Galleria mall, which travels through secret tunnel ans trap doors, attacking and consuming young women who've gone in to dressing rooms to try on clothes. In BANZAI GIRL, it's one of the Filipino myths I take on. Here's our depiction of the Snakeman and myself as Banzai Girl, brought to life. Thoughts, please?
Thanks!

| BANZAI GIRL: VAMPIRELLA DREAMING! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2011/2/23 0:17 5961 5
Hi, everybody --
One of my fans hired me for a full-color commission of myself -- well, my character Banzai Girl, who shares my name Jinky Coronado -- dressed as Vampirella.
Other than, "Sexy pose, show lots of skin," he didn't give me a lot of details.
So, to keep it interesting, I put her kneeling on a BATskin rug (as opposed to bearskin or sheepskin), included the most menacing pumpkins I could come up with, put in a full moon, and even added some goofy bats for good measure. Of course, I had to toss in Wilfred (the red plush toy), and keep my Banzai face and pigtails and earrings, so that my character didn't get lost in the costume and setting.
And then I added my recent trick of having the eyes of the batskin rug and pumpkins looking at her, much as I do the stuffed toys that I usually decorate Banzai Girl's bedroom with.
What do you think? Did it work?

| BANZAI GIRL: DOORWAY INTO NIGHTMARE! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/8/1 20:43 5811 11
For a change of pace, here's manip of everyone's favorite (I hope) Asian schoolgirl!
Banzai Girl and her best friend Katie J struggle to stave off the alien nightmare looming behind the door!
Details: I drew the base illustration and posed with my friend Kat. Don Feenerty shot the photo in the hallway outside his studio in Martins Ferry, Ohio. The angle does a good job of hiding how Kat's significantly actually taller than I am at this point (she's portrayed as younger and shorter than I am in the comic book), because I'm only 5 feet tall and weigh 95 pounds.
Eugene Perez added the monster and big bullet holes, changed a big water gun into Katie J's weapon, and fattened up the heels on my shoes. Kat's hair is also manipped into the style she wore years earlier when I started drawing her into the comic.

| BANZAI GIRL: THE MOVIE! by Adriano Melo JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/9/19 20:44 5810 3
Awhile back here on Heromorph, I was discussing with other artists the idea of a BANZAI GIRL movie. "Who would play me?" I wondered, after shooting down the idea that I could play myself.
A number of names were kicked around. I think everybody decided that if a BANZAI GIRL movie were to be made in 2010, then Vanessa Hudgens would be the logical choice.
But when I originally conceived BANZAI GIRL a few years ago, I had someone else in mind: Kristen Kreuk, who played Lana Lang for years on Smallville and Chun-Li in the recent Street Fighter movie.
Witchblade artist Adriana Melo graciously did a drawing of Kristen as my character, and I thought to share it with you now.

| BANZAI GIRL: Keenspot College! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2012/6/21 21:01 5559 1
Did you know my BANZAI GIRL comic book series is now featured on Keenspot? Go to banzaigirl.keenspot.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the continuing story of everybody's favorite Asian schoolgirl! It's FREE!
As a special incentive for my Heromorph followers to check me out on Keenspot, I decide to create a more realistic version of myself as my character, with her schoolwork in the park between college classes.
And to sure everything is just right, I was very strict with her dress code. I was extra careful to make Banzai Girl's blouse fit correctly, make certain her skirt was regulation Heromorph length...
...and above all, to make sure she's seated modestly, knees together, exactly the way her Professors prefer when she's sitting in the front row in class.
Hope you enjoy it!

| BANZAI GIRL: KAT TO THE RESCUE! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2010/5/29 0:40 5498 10
"Kat" -- otherwise known as Katie J -- has been a main character from the beginning of the comic book series. When we first saw her years ago in BANZAI GIRL #1, she was a feisty little kid of about 12 years old.
Now, in the issue that will be released next year, Kat is all grown up and working for the government organization where her stepfather (who is Banzai Girl's Dad) also works -- and where she proved herself to be such a natural adventurer.
In this sequence, aided by Wilfred, Kat is on a hunt to find her kidnapped former school chum. She's discovering that all of Jinky's friends and family are being victimized.
The hunt is on!

So: Asian schoolgirl/writer/artist/model in real life. Check. Schoolgirl uniform of exactly the proper fit and length. Check. All the trappings of anime and manga that boys like. Check. What's left?
GIANT ROBOTS! So...a giant robot comes smashing Godzilla-like through her city. What's a Banzai Girl to do? Why, try to save her town, of course!
But the rampaging mass of metal has other plans....

In the current EXPOSURE storyline that I'm drawing -- it's a FREE! serialized comic book over at exposure.keenspot.com -- Lisa and Shawna are on an adventure that's a parody of Scooby-Doo!
Dressed in a sexy style slightly reminiscent of Velma, Shawna has wandered down the stairs of a haunted house -- only to discover the house is alive and shattering the stairwell, plunging her down into almost-certain doom.

Wow...I posted this (I thought) two days ago but it didn't show up! So I'm doing it again...
ParaTech Research's lovely ladies Shawna Diaz and Lisa Shannon awaken on Halloween night to find themselves stripped and handcuffed -- locked into a sealed room with no easy means of escape.
What can they do to pass the time until they uncover a way out?
Art by me, colors by Katrina Mae Hao.
If you're not familiar with EXPOSURE, it's a free comics series online, sort of an X-Files-meets-Charlie's Angels type of fun adventure series. Check it out at exposure.keenspot.com

| BANZAI GIRL AND JASMINE: BANZAI GIRL 2.0! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/11/21 9:38 5280 3
I wanted to do a cute, full-of action scene with my daughter Jasmine and myself zooming through the sky, and this is what I came up with.

| BANZAI GIRL VS THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/9/9 22:18 5073 9
Football season is beginning, and a devout Pittsburgh Steelers fan asked me to create a scene with "Jinky playing football with the Steelers, wearing an abbreviated version of their uniform."
I kept working up different ideas for the scene, then finally settled on this one.
I loved 'em in the Super Bowl last year (yes, I watched it!), and I hope everyone enjoys my tribute.

| SUPERMAN & SUPERGIRL by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado DC Comics 2009/10/7 10:57 4812 7
Last month, I saw a wonderful 3D image here on Heromorph, of Superman and Supergirl being defeated by a gorgeous Kryptonite girl.
It really made me wanna try my own version of that same drawing, because I really haven't drawn that many mainstream super-heroes.
So, with a thank you and a tip of my non-existent hat to the original artist, here's my version of that scene. (Colorists are welcome!)

| BANZAI GIRL: Referencing JinkyCoronado Other Comics 2009/8/4 12:05 4809 6
Some of you have been asking me how much of my work is "made up" artwork, and how much is based on actual reference?
I think this is a good example to show you, from the line art from the first issue of my comic book.
In the big panel, my character is posed at her bicycle. My friend shot a photo reference of me with the bike. That was my starting point, but I learned early on that being "married" to the reference usually leaves artwork feeling too stiff.
So notice my changes in the drawing stage to make the figure more "alive": My (longer!) hair and skirt (and tie!) are moving, blowing in the wind...I've curved the body more, pushing out breasts and buns...made the legs pose cuter...added details...even did little things like show the front wheel/spokes of the bicycle better, even while simplifying and thinning down the tires to alter the type of bike.
Hope this helps letting you see the process!

Here's the completed version of my BANZAI GIRL: CUTE AS A BUTTON illustration -- art by me, color by Katrina Mae Hao.
I love making sure all my clothes are tailored to fit properly. I wouldn't want to embarrass my boyfriend by having my skirts too long or my blouse too baggy, and I certainly wouldn't want to be chastised by my teachers for dressing sloppily.

| BANZAI GIRL: MODEL BY DAY, WEREWOLF BY NIGHT! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2011/11/29 13:51 4557 5
Keeping with the same basic layout concept I used for the SNAKEMAN and the TIKBALANG images, here's a sassy-and-sexy one featuring a Werewolf! Art by me, color by Katrina MaeHao.
I tried for a lot of moody imagery with this one: Littered, filthy alleyway; Banzai Girl as the swooning damsel in distress; a furry, fearsome foe so frightening, not even heavy chains around his neck, arms, and legs could hold it! Plus, I added bats, the -- of course! -- full moon...
...and for sass and sexiness, my character's showing maximum leg and cleavage (I'm never too far away from my Victoria's Secret push-up bra, so pretty you have to see it!)...and Michelle is leaping to the rescue, in her skin-tight leather jumpsuit! Leather never looked that hot when it was mooing. :)
Hope you enjoy this!
