| Taylor Swift as Supergirl (Fake)
DrVillain 2013/3/18 2:37
6355 2
Based on the old 2009 rumor of Taylor Swift playing Supergirl in a reboot movie, which was debunked by DC Comics.
However, regardless of her acting abilities (which I know nothing of) I do think that physically her youthful looks, sharp eyes, pretty face and petite, slender figure do resemble Michael Turner's version of the teenage superheroine, which is my favorite version of the character. I would love to see her in action wearing the revealing, skimpy costume.
Even though Supergirl is one of my favorite heroine characters of all time, this is one of those instances where I can let the fact that she's not an actual actress slide, since I think the movie should simply be a fun, light-hearted popcorn summer flick where the main character just needs to be a pretty eye candy and being sexy in costume on the big screen while pretending to be kicking ass, something that I think Swift might be able to do if she was given the chance and of course trained in some acting classes beforehand.
Not that it matters in any way, since it's just an old rumor after all.

Anyway the other post can be deleted off here. This one should work fine. I won't acidentally kick the switch under my desk and lose all connections this time. But I started this about three months ago here at my work. So during my hour of lunch I would add details and work on this here or there. I have stuff I am working on at home, but I can't bring it here, so I started this one instead. Plus I can dedicate a lot more time at home to stuff than here. But the Model is Marta from PhotoDrumm. She was already wet... he he he. Anyway. I wanted a rainy background. Found this one floating around plus it seemed to go well with her colors scheme of her body. I added all the Rain into the picture. I also added the rain hitting the body, and since clothing and body will get wet and saturated, metal first beads up when it rains, I tried adding beads in places as well to match the image. Didn't come out totally like I wanted it to. But its close enough. I am happy with the results. Take a look guys and let me know what ya think. Like comments as always. Thanks so much. |

| ROCINATE Presents ???????? Fire & Ice ???????? Issue 1
R_o_c_i_n_a_t_e 2005/4/11 16:07

I didn????????t want to get too repetitive with these covers so here is one that????????s a little different. I was thinking of doing separate Fire and Ice issues but they are such a great duo that I had to merge them. The thing about Fire and Ice as character is that just like powers they are totally opposite people. Fire is the confident extrovert while Ice is the shy quite one. This too has been demonstrated in the costumes. The 90????????s era Fire looked like a supermodel bike chick with lots of exposed skin. Ice????????s costume was a one piece suit with a shirt. Fire was voluptuously gorgeous, while Ice was small and cute.
I didn????????t want to go with any of their previous costumes with this one. The 80????????s ones were a bit cheesy and the 90????????s ones were too predictable. So I went back to their 80????????s costumes and re-imagined them. I combined the look of he 80????????s Fire costume with the biker attitude of the 90????????s and came up with a retro flame-job suit. For ice I took her 80????????s costume and made it look more like a wet suit.
Once again these were characters that didn????????t have symbols to represent them so I made up two that fit their new themes.
Enjoy!

| ROCINATE Presents ???????? PowerGirl ???????? Issue 1
R_o_c_i_n_a_t_e 2005/4/14 11:35

Hey guys here it is! I????????ve done so many PowerGirl manipulations that for this one I wanted it to be different. I????????ve made some minor changes to her costume like the belt and suit (this one is a bit more??????? supportive). I went through about have a dozen different models for the faces. PowerGirl is a tricky one. She has to be beautiful, yet strong and have a lots of attitude. I thing my choice here captures all that. ???????You want her, but you are afraid what she????????d going to do.???????
For the symbol I used a design that was part of her white/yellow suit. It is also incorporated in her belt.
I think that this is the last of this series. I may revisit it later but I think I got the major players out of the way (plus a couple characters I thought could use updating).
Enjoy, it????????s been a pleasure!

Screen legend Jane Russell as the golden age Wonder Woman. I used two different black and white shots of Russell and pieced them at the waist and colorized them. The lasso is a real rope and the eagle is from the back of a quarter. All other costume elements were drawn in Photoshop.

Maybe this should be "Star Woman" since stargirl was a teenager... So.. this is my second... i think this turned out slightly better then the first... still unhappy with the realism of the drawings (staff, mask and gloves) but... with time i s'pose.
I hope the fairchild i'm working on now turns out alot better. Can't be any worse right?
Question though.. i've heard alot about this program called z-brush... think it's worth putting in the effort to learn? comming from someone who's never took an art class, and sucks at 3d....
Enjoy!

| HM/C2F crossover "Mirror Image" by Dark Knight & B
Dark_Knight_DK 2004/8/8 22:00
6434 12
B's comments:
I started out suggesting doing Batman and Robin for this collaboration (following the vague "teamup" theme suggested by Max and Mike), but I think neither of us wanted to manip a guy... so we ended up doing the same character twice. Sort of. Here's Daniela Petrova as Stephanie Brown (aka Spoiler) and as Stephanie Brown (aka Robin).
I did Spoiler. The costuming was done the usual way, the metal I did using Dan Perceful's new tutorial at C2F, the cape and hood were done from scratch. This is just my second attempt at a cape... I think it's a bit better than the first was. The hood I based on that in a Rembrandt painting of a monk.
This was fun! DK's great to work with, and a damn good artist to boot. I think our ideas for the pic meshed together quite well. Here's to the next crossover!
Dark Knight's comments:
The most difficult part was to smudge the skin of the girl without loosing the details, because we choose a pic with a low quality, other than that It was fun creating the costume, I'm very pleased with the mask, and the background (that lighting effect looks pretty cool!!). And it was great working with B. |

| HM - C2F Crossover: Quicksilver By Shaylinn & Flash By Aharmona
Aharmona 2004/8/10 20:28

Well Shaylinn worked diligently on her Quicksilver and patiently waited for my Flash to finally arrive. This was an idea I was very nervous about; with Flash being my favorite character, I wanted my first manip to be perfect. I think the crossover went very well and I had a fantastic partner in Shaylinn. I think our desire to use the same model allowed us to see our manipping styles and really push each other to better ourselves.
Shaylinn's original comments:
We decided if we were going to do a cross we would cross everything ;) So since aharmona is more of DC fan and I'm a Marvelite we decided to do a Flash/Quicksilver crossover and while we were at it did a crossgender as well. So for the manip itself.... aharmona provided the base image so I am unsure of the model. Started with a nude image and reworked and recolored both the costume pieces and the hair to match QS. The costume was done with three separate layers of recoloring and then cutting out the correct shapes. Then a couple of layer effects over and I was lucky enough to get the shine you see. Then since aharmona was going to have Flash on the Cosmic treadmill I thought I would have QS working on an "alien machine" to account for the pose. So I found a cool image on the net that I frankensteined into the device you see. The globe on the top was originally silver but a layer effect gave me the glowing orb look I wanted. Once that was set I had to slightly alter the position of QS's back arm and the back leg so they would rest on the machine. I also altered the angle and reworked both feet since in the original pic she was on her tip toes. And I shortened her hair a bit to something I felt was more appropriate for a speedster. The background is two images I found on the net worked together with lightning added to the Flash side and that side recolored to match Flash's dominant color. I was trying for a spacial rift sort of feel trying to make it seem as if they were working from their own universes to save both. |

Still keeping up the practice. I've gone with a more classic look (no texturizing) and still keeping up w/ some of the new costume's look.
This one was inspired by another pic of Superman standing atop the Daily Planet Globe. Again the model is Marisa Miller from SI.
I think I'm making some progress here. |

Ok so here is another one. I know the stitching on the side is messed up. But for some reason that?s where my mind kept putting and drawing it in, so at one point it was left there. Other than that I don?t think this came out too bad here. Originally this had a background more colored to the model, but I felt it took too much away from the character itself so I made it more dull shades that were in her coloring. This time I did go with a different method for skin clean up, and tried JR?s method, takes me a bit longer, but I do see where it can be worth it though. I had this sitting here for quite a few months and figured its time to get it out of my folders waiting to work on. Thanks for all those who look or comment, its always a geat help and so appreciated.
The model for this one is Bret Rossi, WonderGirl belongs to DC Comics, and the artwork is mine. |

You wouldn't believe the junk I had to make this image out of. Perhaps my most franked image to date. But, thanks to MissVee's fine art direction, I believe I've convincingly pulled it off (look up BG by MissVee in the Comic Art Gallery). I practically traced right over it.
It went pretty fast at first, but then after tying eveyrthing together and then texturing, it went v-e-r-y s-lo-w-l-y. Many parts had to be enlarged and painted over to restore resolution. I then used broad areas of color of different values to create a minimal sense of an interior.
I could probably work on this thing forever, but I'm not. |
